Alora’S POV.
“I love you.”
Three words and I’m hot and cold and unsteady. I wish I could put those words in my pocket just to touch them once in a while and remind myself that they exist.
I feel the same way for him. I love him. Maybe even more, but I’ve never told him. I have never said “I love you” to him, not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t have the courage to do so. I always say it in my mind, but he can’t read my mind… just yet.
Maybe when he marks me, I’ll let him read my mind so he’ll know I’ve been trying to tell him those words too.
No!
That’s not how it works. I have to say them with my own mouth. It’s not going to kill me.
Unconsciously, my fingers go over to my lips and slightly brush over them and I’m reliving every memory of his lips, his touch, his scent I had never known or had access to until last night. My entire body is humming with feelings so intense, it’s almost indecent.
This is just the beginning of it all. Tonight he is going to mark me. Who knows what that could lead to?
My skin suddenly gets hypersensitive just at the thought of it. I quickly shake my head and snap my eyes open.
“Don’t be such a whore Alora.” I murmur to myself and walk to the nightstand to pick up my phone. I need to call Tania to come over. She’s going to be my personal servant from now on. I want her to come over and help me choose what to wear for this outing. It’ll be my first time stepping out with my mate and I want to look as beautiful as I can be. I want to impress him with my looks.
I pick up the phone and dial her number. She picks on the third ring.
“Hello Luna Alora.” Tania answers respectfully over the phone. I like her a lot. She’s very soft spoken and diligent. We are going to be very good friends.
“Hi, Tania. Good morning. How are you doing today?” I ask with my sweetest voice.
“I’m doing okay, thank you.”
“I’m happy to hear that. Look, I know it’s quite early and I’m sorry for calling you right now, but I need your help right now. Alpha Jayce will be taking me out in a few hours time and I need you to help me pick a dress to wear. Do you mind?”
“Of course not, Luna. It’s my duty to serve you. I will be there at ten.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Anything for you, Luna.” I end the call and squeal in excitement. I clutch the phone to my chest and rush into the closet to start picking out the dresses I will choose from.
I’m so excited for this outing.
Jayce’S POV.
I get to my office and meet Reed alone. No sign of LLoyd and that’s shocking. Usually, I’ll come in and meet LLoyd and the two of us will have to sit and wait for Reed.
Seems like the tables have turned.
“Good morning Reed.” I greet and walk over to my seat.
“Good morning Alpha.”
“LLoyd seems absent.” I sit down.
“I called this morning, he said something about morning sickness …”
“Morning sickness? Is he pregnant?” I ask and chuckle. Reed does the same.
“He had a lot to drink last night.”
“So did we.” I say looking at him. He nods.
“Well, apparently, he’s alcohol intolerable, because he told me had morning sickness as a result of being hungover.”
The words “morning sickness” crack me up every time he says it. I’m sure LLoyd used a different word. Reed is just using those words to make fun of him right now.
“I see.” I nod my head.
“He said he sent you a text.”
“I haven’t even checked my phone this morning, but it’s fine. Tell him I said sorry about his health and you make sure he takes something to get better.”
“No I won’t! I’m not his nanny.”
And then again, I forgot who I’m talking to.
I calmly nod my head.
“Fair point.”
“I’m sure we are not here to talk about LLoyd and his morning sickness.” I burst into laughter. Reed is biting his lips and trying hard not to do the same.
Damn him!
I lean on my chair and try to keep a straight face.
“No we are not.” Laughter is struggling to burst out of my throat, but I manage to swallow it down and maintain my serious face.
“Good, because I’d very much love to change the topic. About what happened last night, I have a main suspect.”
“My step-brother.”
“Yyyeees! How did you know?”
“The same way you know.”
“So, what are you going to do about it?”
“Nothing.”
“What do you mean nothing?” He asks, irritated. I lean closer to him, looking straight in his face.
“Because I’m looking at a bigger picture. Jovan and his mum will set these petty traps to keep us distracted while they orchestrate an even more dangerous plan for both Alora And I. We can’t afford to let them have us in their net.”
“I understand, but this is still very annoying.”
“Trust me, I want to go over there and hit Jovan, which I will one of these days because he’s bound to step on my nerves again, but for now, what we have to do is watch them closely and see what they have in store for us. Reed, this is bigger than you and I see it. Jovan is furious about the fact that I found my mate. He wishes death upon the both of us and he will do anything to make that wish of his come true. It’s safe to say that both Aloraand are on his death list right now, that’s why we are to be very vigilant in this castle from now on. Things are about to get heated.”
“I can feel it too.” He nodded his head. “Shit’s about to get real around here.”
“That’s why we can’t let them divert our attention. You focus on your duties. Stop every investigation you started. I will deal with my brother.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Alright then.”
“Yeah. That’s what I wanted to discuss with you and LLoyd… and speaking of LLoyd, I’m just realising he was nowhere to be found last night.” Reed looks away from me. “Do you have any idea where he was?”
“You should ask him that yourself. It’s not in my place to tell you.” He rises from his sit.
“Right.” I purse my lips. I have a feeling that if I ask, I’m not going to like what I’ll hear, so I’ll just let it go. “I’m taking Aloraout tonight.” I announce.
“I have no idea why you are telling me that.” He says and starts walking away. I chuckle lightly as I watch him leave my office.
He’s growing on me.
