Alora’S POV.
I’ve been nervously waiting in the bedroom for the designers to arrive. I wish Alpha Jayce had told me about this earlier so I’ll have more time to prepare myself. This was too sudden.
I have no idea what I’m going to say or how I’m supposed to behave and most importantly, I have no idea how they are going to treat me when they realise I know nothing about fashion. They are definitely going to laugh at me and judge me cruelly when they find out how daft I am when it comes to fashion. I’m literally freaking out right now.
I’ve never gone shopping.
All the clothes I ever owned were hand me downs from other servants at Daphne’s house. I used to do everything for Daphne, but her shopping. I used to wish she would take me along one day for her shopping sprees so I could see beautiful clothes, but she never did. She always told me that even just seeing nice clothes in a mall was a luxury I would never be able to afford and that’s why she never took me. I know nothing about shopping for new clothes.
I’m totally going to disgrace myself in the presence of those designers.
I should call Alpha Jayce.
I should tell him I’m not ready yet.
But then again, the party is in barely three days. There’s no time. And also, he should be very busy by now with other preparations. I would only distract him right now with my call.
I let out a frustrated sigh and place the phone on the nightstand.
This is all so frustrating. I have no idea what to do.
I shake in fear when I hear a knock on the door. When I signal for the person to come in, the door is opened and one of the servants walks in.
“Luna Alora, the designers have arrived.” She announces and I freeze on my spot.
The designers have arrived.
They are here.
They are going to find out I’m a fashion misfit and laugh at me. This is the end for me.
“Should I tell them you’ll be coming down soon?” The servant’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts and I give her a quick nod. She bows and exits the room.
I rise to my feet and pace about, nervously biting my nails.
What am I supposed to say? How am I supposed to behave? Sweet Moon goddess, I need you right now.
And just then, a brilliant idea pops in my mind. I rush over to the nightstand and pick up my phone. I’m lucky I took Tania’ Number the day we had that long talk.
I feel comfortable around her. I’ll feel a lot less nervous if she’s by my side. I dial her number and she picks on the third ring. When I tell her I’d love for her to come help me choose my outfit for the welcome party, she squeals in excitement. She agrees to come over immediately and that warms my heart. I end the call and let out a heavy sigh of relief. I feel a lot better right now.
I rush into the closet to change my clothes. I have to look a bit sophisticated when I go down there to meet the fashion gurus.
When I arrive downstairs, I almost turn on my heels and take the stairs back to the bedroom. The Living room looks more like a shopping mall and there are about five flamboyantly dressed girls organising stuff here and there.
There are so many dresses and I’m confused. Am I supposed to choose one from this multitude? That would be an impossible thing to do!
I have never seen anything like this in my life.
“Luna Alora.” One of the women calls. She has on the most beautiful outfit I have ever seen in my life and her heels are so damn high. Do her feet not hurt?
And look at her slick blonde hair, all that nicely done make-up.
Standing before this woman makes me feel so little. So insignificant. So local. I feel ashamed. I almost bow for her.
“It’s an honour for me to serve you, Luna. My name is Cynthia and those are my colleagues, Edna, Jared, Sofia and Clint. We are here to help you choose your outfit for the upcoming party.” I swallow dryly as I look at the others. They all bow as well and all I can do is smile at them. My eyes travel to the area where the clothes have been set up and I’m totally awed.
Everything screams expensive!
“One moment please.” Cynthia nods and goes to meet the others. I dial Alpha Jayce’s number and go to the other end of the room. Right now I don’t really care if my call is going to disturb him. I need him to tell me what’s going on. When he told me designers would come over with clothes, I expected two to show up with about five dresses for me to choose from, but that’s the opposite of…
“Baby.”
That voice.
That deep, soft and enticing voice comes through and I close my eyes and exhale heavily to pack up the courage to talk.
“Alpha Jayce. What’s going on here?”
“Is something wrong? Should I come over?” He asks, alarmed.
“No, I mean… yes, something is up, but you don’t have to come over.”
“What’s wrong Alora?”
“The designers!”
“Oh… they came already?”
“Yes!” I whisper harshly. “There’s five of them and I think they brought an entire mall with them. How am I supposed to choose a single dress from all these…” my breath hitches. I let out a heavy sigh of exasperation. This is too much.
He laughs on the other end of the phone.
He fucking laughs.
“Excuse me. This is not funny. I’m stressed out.”
“Don’t be. You aren’t only shopping for the party, love. Choose as many as you want. If you want all, take all. They are for you.”
That makes me feel even more anxious than I was before I called.
“What do you mean take all? Have you seen how many there are? And they all look so expensive. I…”
“Alora. Alora… baby girl, calm down. Breathe.” He calmly instructs and I obey. “Forget about the prices and take as many as you want. Clothes, shoes, jewellery. Take anything and if you want more, all you have to do is ask. Have fun.”
“Alpha Jayce… this is too much.”
“It’s not. Nothing is too much for my mate. Go ahead and choose. I’m eager to come home and see you try on what you chose.” I can hear him smiling on the other end. It makes my heart swell.
I look back at the clothes and bite my lips. I also notice that Tania has arrived.
“Alright then. I’ll choose. Thank you.”
I’m definitely going to have a blast!
“Anything for you, love. Have fun. I love you.” I quickly end the call and smile so hard that my cheeks start hurting.
This is going to be so much fun!
