Reed’S POV.
They say I’m cold and mean and insufferable and many other names I cannot recall right now, but all I am, is honest. I say the truth as it is and before I always get offended because they do not want to be told the truth which I think is very sad and none of my business. None of their complaints about me will ever change who I am.
I’ll keep dishing out the truth to whoever and if they don’t like it, then they should behave better. The last thing I’ll do is hide my feelings, or lie.
I don’t lie.
I’ve been standing in this spot for almost thirty minutes now, waiting for someone. It’s a woman. I saw her go into the servant quarters a while ago and I have been waiting for her to come out so we could talk. She has been causing trouble and it seems no one has spoken to her. If Alpha Jayce isn’t going to do it, then I will.
I snap my head up to look at the entrance to the servant quarters when I hear footsteps. My jaw muscles twitch when I see who I’ve been waiting for. It’s Skye and she’s coming out of the servant quarters with a frown on her face.
I wonder what she’s pissed about.
Unfortunately for her, this conversation is only going to worsen her mood.
“Skye.” I call and start walking towards her. She stops in her tracks and looks at me, totally surprised. Ever since she was brought into the pack, we have only crossed parts a few times. She has greeted me a few times, but I ignored her greetings because I do not like her. I was never for the fact that Alpha Jayce chose her to be his sexual partner, but who am I to object?
When I look at Skye, all I see is problems!
She’s going to cause a huge problem if she keeps living in this castle. I can feel it in my gut.
“Omega Reed.” She calls respectfully and even bows to me, but I can see the animosity in her eyes. She hates me and it’s a good thing that I greatly dislike her too. Maybe even more. “What a surprise to run into you.” She flashes me a fake smile. I look at her, amused.
“This isn’t a coincidence. I have been waiting for you.”
“Oh…” She exclaims in surprise. I nod. “Is there something you would like us to discuss?” She asks, curious. I hold my hands behind my back and look straight Into her eyes.
“There are a few questions I would love to ask and a few things I would love to say to you.”
“That’s still a discussion.”
“I didn’t say it wasn’t.” She lets out a frustrated sigh and folds her arms over breasts. She’s already glaring at me like she knows this conversation isn’t going to be a good one.
Nice.
“What exactly do you think you are doing?” I start my interrogation. She squints at me.
“I… I don’t think I understand your question.”
“I think you understand, Skye. I’m referring to what happened earlier today with Alora. What do you think you were doing giving her warnings?” She chuckles and gives me a confident look.
The fake smile has faded and the forced respect she was trying to address me with is nowhere to be found on her face and that’s what I want.
I want her good girl mask off so we can have the intense conversation I was hoping to have with her.
“What about it? I was only speaking the truth, Omega Reed. Alora is not fit for the throne. She is a nobody. She doesn’t deserve to be Alpha Jayce’s mate. She doesn’t deserve to be the Supreme Luna.”
“And who deserves to be? You?” I give her an intense look. She takes a step back and looks around, before plastering her gaze on my face once more.
“I come from a prestigious background. I’m educated. I’m more sophisticated than Alora will ever be. I deserve to be the Luna of this Pack, not her!”
“Do you?” I ask, amused. She looks around, but doesn’t reply. “Too bad the moon goddess doesn’t see you good enough to put you in that position.”
“I can get there without the help of the Moon goddess.”
“I won’t let you. I promise.”
“You are a mere Omega. There is nothing you’ll be able to do when Alpha Jayce chooses me.”
“Bold of you to assume that you are ever going to reach that level.” She huffs in anger.
“You know what, I don’t want to keep having this very underwhelming conversation with you. I’ve had a very hectic day. I need to go to bed!”
“You must be exhausted after all the plotting you’ve been up to. I wonder who your partner in crime is. I hope you get a good night’s sleep, because tomorrow will be more hectic than today. Goodnight night Skye.” She storms away and I smirk.
She’s only going to replace Alora over my dead body. The chosen Luna will remain the chosen Luna.
I watch her till she disappears into the building before turning around to leave only to be greeted with the judging eyes of Lloyd, the famous Beta I’ve never gotten along with.
“Lloyd.” I call quietly. He smiles and steps closer to me.
“Was that Skye?” He’s still smiling and I hate it.
Nothing is funny.
“Yes, it was her.” I look back at the building entrance before turning to face him again. The smile on his face has disappeared. He is giving me a stern look now.
“What do you think you are doing Reed?” He sneers and I’m a bit confused, but I manage to stay calm.
“What exactly am I doing?”
“Don’t try to deny it. You want her, don’t you?” My eyes widen in surprise as I try to understand what he is talking about.
“Huh?” He chuckles yet again.
“I can’t believe you are trying to play dumb. You know exactly what I’m talking about, so stop trying to deny it.”
“I can’t remember saying no to anything and I most certainly have no idea what you are talking about. You’ll have to be more specific.” I know exactly what he is talking about, but I want him to mention it with his mouth so I can tell him he’s delusional.
“I see the way you look at Skye. You want her in your bed.” I almost burst into laughter, but I manage to keep my cool.
“Do I?” I ask in surprise.
“Stop trying to play dumb, Reed.”
“And stop being delusional.”
“You cannot have the woman your Alpha has been with. Find someone else!” He reprimands and the smile I have been trying to hold back finally breaks through.
“When exactly are you going to realise and accept that you cannot tell me what to do?” I ask with creased brows and he is completely taken aback. He opens his mouth to say something, but closes it and chuckles.
“You are getting more arrogant as the days go by.”
“My arrogance is my special charm. I make sure to reinforce it everyday so it doesn’t die down. It can only grow from now on. I’ll be a lot more arrogant in the coming months.”
“I’m watching you Reed.” He threatens and I nod.
“And I’m watching you too, Lloyd. May the best watcher win.” I shove both hands in my trouser pockets and walk away.
Lloyd and I will only ever finally be on good terms when pigs grow wings.
