Andre POV
I grabbed Olivia and pulled her close to me. The metallic smell of blood came from her mouth. I was worried. What was going on? What had happened?
I heard yelling and dashed back into the house. The sound came again, and I was able to pin the noise to this location.
I kicked the door down and saw my beloved on the ground, crawling to the door like a dying caterpillar.
“Olivia?”
I cradled her close. Her body was getting colder by the second. I looked at her dress and saw a spreading patch of blood.
My heart pounded loudly in my chest.
Our baby! Something had happened to it.
I hoisted her up and didn’t even take a moment to consider the twelve unconscious bodies in the room.
I gritted my teeth together. Jonas’ father and brothers were. Whatever that had happened to those bastards, they deserved it.
I knew that Jonas couldn’t be trusted. That deceptive bastard.
I carried Olivia out and gave an order for all my men to pull back.
I dashed to my car and placed Olivia carefully in the back. I knew now that I couldn’t trust anyone in this pack. They were all power-hungry bastards. I couldn’t trust to keep her in a hospital. I needed to find a place for her.
I called my associate in Elvis Pine and in a few minutes, I was given a private residence in a neighboring pack that had no affiliation with Elvis Pine.
I was given the coordinates and prepared to zoom off. I would handle the doctor later…
“Alpha!”
Sephora and Pierre rushed up to me. They seemed confused about finding me in my car.
“What is going… Oh my God! Olivia!”
Sephora was in shock as she saw Olivia sleeping in the back of my car.
“What happened to…”
“No time to explain,” I said, cutting her off. “We need to get medical personnel. I’m entrusting that to you two. I’ll text Pierre the coordinates of where you can find us. Send the men there, too. We will need all the security that we can get.”
They gave a nod, and I wasted no time in zooming off.
I was assured that they would be okay. We had defeated most of Jonas’ men, and his father and brothers were lying unconscious. It was uncertain, though, how long they would stay like that, but I was willing to bank on it.
I blazed down the asphalt as fast as I could. My heart was still racing, and every few minutes, I would turn around to check on Olivia. Her breathing was very weak, and her eyes didn’t even seem to flicker slightly. The blood on her dress continued to grow, and she was getting paler. She was losing a lot of blood.
Beads of sweat formed on my forehead. I hope Sephora and Pierre find a good doctor soon.
It didn’t take long, and I arrived at the residence. It was clean and well-hidden. The security cameras were functional, and it was in place that was not under the jurisdiction of Elvis Pine.
I carried Olivia out into the clean house. I heard the screeching of cars behind me and saw my men arriving one by one.
I was relieved and asked them to guard the house. Jonas could have asked someone to follow us. I wasn’t going to take any chances. I couldn’t lose Olivia and my child.
I carried Olivia up to a room and laid her on the clean bed. She was still bleeding.
I rummaged through the drawers and found bandages. There was only so much I could do for her through first aid. I only hoped Pierre and Sephora would be back soon.
Sephora was the first to return with an elderly nurse.
I had relaxed a bit as I was able to stop Olivia’s bleeding, and she was breathing better now. Her vital signs were still weak, and she was still quite pale, but she was going to live, nonetheless.
However, I wasn’t still certain about our baby.
“Alpha…”
I pulled Sephora aside and left the nurse standing alone in the living room with a few of my men watching her.
“…I brought this lady. She is a nurse and a very experienced midwife. I noticed Olivia’s bleeding earlier and I think that she could be of great help.
“Why is she old?”
“I figure that an elderly person would be easier to deal with just in case she ends up being one of Jonas’ spies.”
I gave a slow nod. I wasn’t still certain about the lady but Olivia’s safety was paramount to me.
I left Sephora in the hallway and went into the living room.
The old lady was still standing where we had left her. One of the men walked up to me and whispered that she hadn’t taken a seat since we left.
I was slightly impressed by her strength and vigour despite her advanced age.
“What is your name?”
“Alvida, Alpha.”
“Just Alvida?”
“I believe that is the only name that matters.”
I folded my arms.
“How do you know that I am an Alpha?”
The lady gave me a warm smile.
“I might be old, but I have keen senses. My senses also tell me that you have a bleeding patient who needs to be attended to. I noticed a blood trail on the ground outside, and I suspect that this person is very important to you, considering the security of this place.”
Her intuition frightened me a little but the calmness of her eyes and voice gave me the assurance that I could trust her.
“I sent for a doctor. We have to wait for him to come.”
“No need. I have as much experience as any doctor. Don’t let the ‘nurse’ title fool you. Come, we have someone that needs taking care of…”
