95 – Letting The World Know

Book:Alpha Stepfather Is My Mate! Published:2024-11-20

Olivia’s POV
I hurried upstairs to Andre’s room. My cheeks were burning with embarrassment. I didn’t mean for Jonas and Pierre to find me in Andre’s office.
I still couldn’t get the image of their bewilderment out of my mind. My heart was beating faster in my chest. Maybe I wasn’t ready. Maybe I wasn’t ready to tell the world that Andre was my mate.
I dashed into Andre’s room and shut the door behind me.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The sound of someone at the door pulled me out of my trance, and in my fright, I nearly slipped and fell.
The knocking came once more, louder this time.
“Who is it?” I called loudly from the bathroom. I listened carefully, but there was no reply.
My body went taunt, but my instincts kicked in, urging me to leave the bathroom with Andre’s towel wrapped around my chest.
“Who is it?” I called out again, fearfully clutching the towel to my chest.
“Miss Olivia, it’s the maid.”
I felt my blood pressure plummet to safer levels, and a smile of relief tugged at my lips. I walked to the door and opened it. Two maid servants stood outside with beaming smiles on their faces. I clutched the towel closer to my chest and chuckled nervously.
“Is there a problem? I don’t think I called for any servants.”
“We know, Miss Olivia. The Alpha sent us here to get you ready.”
My eyes opened wide.
“Ready? Ready for what?”
My head began to work overtime. Was there something that Andre had mentioned to me that I had forgotten? I don’t think he mentioned any party. I finally caught sight of the bag in the girls’ hands.
“Please let us do our job, Miss Olivia. I think the Alpha is in the best position to tell you the details.”
They came in, and I closed the door behind them. Their giggling made my stomach churn. I felt so clueless. What exactly were they preparing me for?
The maids wasted no time and took me to the bathroom to help me wash my hair. I felt my cheeks grow hot. I still wasn’t used to the maids helping me get things done.
However, the wash was relaxing. The way their fingers massaged my scalp nearly lulled me to sleep.
They dried my hair and took me back to the room to get my hair styled.
“I think an elegant bun will really make your alluring features stand out.”
I was about to reject it, but they were already working on the bun. They pulled the hair on my scalp taunt and tied it into a tight ponytail.
My head was in pain, but I didn’t say a thing. Whatever they were preparing me for, I’m sure they knew exactly what to do. I never really did much with my hair. I wanted to impress Andre as soon as I walked in.
My make-up was soon done, and I was helped into a sleek black dress with sequins that sparkled like stars. The fabric clung to my body, revealing my curves, but I wasn’t bothered by the tightness; the dress was quite comfortable.
Finally, the maids stood back, admired the work they had put in on me, and began to swoon in admiration.
“Oh! Miss Olivia! You look stunning!”
“The dress really brings out your eyes!”
I blushed and stared at myself in the mirror. I looked beautiful. I almost couldn’t recognise myself.
“Thank you so much. I still want to ask what all this is for. What am I getting ready for? Is there a ball that I wasn’t aware of?”
The maids simply shrugged.
“We really wish that we could tell you, but the Alpha only gave us instructions to get you ready. He didn’t say what it was for.”
I sighed and gave a gentle smile. I was already grateful that the maids had transformed me into a belle.
They bowed and took their leave. I was alone in the room. I could feel my heart pounding wildly in my chest. I twirled in the mirror again and looked at my dress. It was beautiful. I only hoped that Andre would…
Knock! Knock! Knock!
I abruptly turned to the door, and I was lucky enough to see the shadow of a pair of feet standing on the other side of it.
“Who are…”
A note slipped under my door, and I heard the feet walk away and fade into silence.
My blood ran cold, but it didn’t stop me from walking to the door and picking up the note from the ground.
“Oh no!”
The handwriting on the note was just like the ones I had received in the previous notes. My stalker was back on my trail.
“You seem to be quite good at stirring the waters.”
I read the words out loud, and my hands began to tremble.
“No!”
I gripped the paper hard.
“I have had enough of this!”
Crash!
The door flung open, and my heart leapt out of my chest.
“Andre?!”
He stood at the door. His lips were broken and was oozing blood. He had scratches on his face and arms in places where his shirt had been ripped.
He walked in, grabbing his arm in pain and smiling like all was well like it was normal for him to come back battle-ravaged.
“Kitten.”
“Andre!”
I rushed to him and touched his arm softly.
“Are you…”
“Hey. I’m fine.”
He walked in, and I closed the door behind him while he took a seat at the dressing table.
“What happened to you? You look a mess.”
My voice was filled with worry, and I instantly forgot about the note I had received. However, Andre brought my attention to it as he picked it up from the dressing table and glanced through it with suspicion in his gaze.
“I’m fine, but this note is one of the others you have gotten previously.”
I shook my head.
“I just got this a few minutes ago. Just a few minutes before you came in, in fact.”
“Does the handwriting match the ones that you have previously received?”
I nodded; it was exactly the same. I felt worried, but Andre was unfazed and glared at the paper with laser focus.
“I came up here, and no one was in the lobby. It was empty.”
I felt a fearful shiver ripple through my spine. How could the culprit avoid being seen by Andre when he had just delivered the note a few minutes before he came in?
“Look kitten”
Andre put the note down and cupped my cheek softly.
“In a few minutes, no one will be able to question us or gossip about our relationship.”
I stared at him in confusion. What was he talking about?
“Andre, I…”
He silenced me with a kiss, and when he pulled away, a look of pride and raw joy brightened his face.
“Let’s go, Princess. It’s time to let the world know you belong to me…
