Andre’s POV
“What do you want?”
My fists were clenched tight, and I was sure that I was seconds away from losing it. The smirk on Jonas’ face wasn’t making things any easier for me.
Instead of answering my question, he began to pace around my office as if he owned the place. I saw a flicker of greed in his eyes as he surveyed the room and touched my expensive desk.
“Well, before we start, I think you might want to double-check to see if the door is locked. We wouldn’t want any… interruptions.”
He sat on my desk with a relaxed look on my face. My every instinct told me to bury my fist in his face, but I stiffened and controlled myself. He was a bug crawling under my skin, but I wasn’t going to let him get the better of me.
“I can see that you are getting right at home here, making yourself comfortable and lavishing on amenities made available to you.”
Jonas chuckled and smirked again.
“What can I say? You’re a great host. I’m ‘thoroughly’ enjoying your hospitality.”
I gritted my teeth and snarled lightly. He was a real pain, and the worst part was that I wasn’t sure he was getting out of my hair anytime soon.
I exhaled and pulled the conversation back to the matter on the ground.
“I’m not one to repeat myself, but I will ask again: what are you doing here?”
Jonas looked cocky and arrogant. His brow was raised in the most annoying way. I was almost at my wit’s end with him.
“Oh! You asked me a question. I’m sorry. It must have slipped my mind. Considering how much younger I am, it’s such a pity that I forgot. Considering your age, the Goddess must have blessed you with an incredible memory.”
My jaw clenched tightly, and I felt a vein in my forehead nearly pop. That son of a…
My eyes followed him as he stood up and went around my desk. He finally settled in my chair, and to my annoyance, he kicked his feet on the table and reclined into the chair comfortably.
“I know that you have a lot of questions for me,” he uttered cockily. “So I decided to save your old ass the time and make myself available for questioning.”
He crossed his legs, placed his hands behind his head to cushion it, and looked at me.
“So, here I am. Ask away, Alpha Andre.”
My face was doing a great job hiding my frustration and anger. The bastard was cocky and disrespectful. It was a miracle that Olivia hadn’t yet seen his true hues and was putting up with him. She really thinks he’s a gentleman. He must be a really good actor when he’s in front of her.
I took a deep breath. I had to be in control. I couldn’t let him get to me.
“I want to thank you again for saving my mate. As I said earlier, state your price, and I will make sure that you are paid handsomely for your troubles.”
He seemed unfazed by what I said, and his silence was a go-ahead for me to keep talking.
“I would also like to tell you that your visit here is limited to three days. At that time, my insurance company will settle the damages to your car, and you will have your ride back. So I suggest that you say what your price is and soon.”
Jonas pouted sarcastically and switched the way his feet were crossed.
“Three days? That’s such a short time. But Olivia told me that I could stay as long as I wanted. Do you want to upset her by throwing me out?”
My fist began to shake, but I placed it in my pocket. This bastard was testing my patience.
“You know something, Andre? Olivia and I have grown quite close those past four days. She takes me as a brother. She trusts me a whole lot. You should respect that.”
I took another deep breath and tried to relax. I knew the game he was playing. He was trying to bait me, but I wasn’t going to fall for it. It still bothered me that Olivia had spent four days alone with this man. Speculations spurred up in my mind, but I pushed them all aside. Olivia said she didn’t do anything with him, and I’d rather believe her than this arrogant son of a bitch.
“I suggest that you take your time and watch your words”
I adjusted my cufflinks and glowered at him again.
“else I won’t be able to assure you that you will leave here with all your bones intact.”
The air stopped moving around us. Jonas took his feet off the desk and fixed his gaze on me.
“You have some nerve,” he growled lightly. “Do you really think that your old bones can handle mine? I’ll reduce you to a pulp in sec…”
I couldn’t help it. My body moved at lightning speed towards him, and before I knew it, I punched him three times in the face. To hell with control! I was going to teach this bastard who was really in charge here!
I watched as blood oozed from his nose. He wiped it with the back of his hand and even seemed surprised at the colour of it.
“You hypocrite. I can’t believe Ollie said you were a gentleman.”
My eyes grew wide.
Ollie?! He called my mate Ollie?!
I could tell that he had picked up on my rage, and his lips curled into a bloody smile.
“Oh! You seem a little surprised. Yes, I do call her Ollie. I called her Ollie the day that I saved her from those men, and she was sobbing on my shoulder while I comforted her.”
My face began to feel hot, and I felt my wolf hungry for blood.
“You should have seen how scared Ollie was. She needed someone to comfort her, and I happened to be just the right person.”
I lunged towards him again, but he counted and punched me in the stomach. I retched in pain and took several steps back.
“You were lucky on your first shot, Old Man. Don’t even think that you might be lucky again.”
I glared at him, lunged again, and we began a brutal brawl. Wood smashed under the weight of our fists, and we dodged and parried each other’s blows.
I was thoroughly impressed with how well he was keeping up with me. I put my hand up to block his blow, and the force of it nearly shattered my arm. I was patient. I got an opening and swung with all my might.
I caught him in the stomach and sent him flying across the room into the wall. He fell to the ground weakly, and I walked over to him. I looked down at his crumpled and bruised body and adjusted my time.
“Don’t you dare think that you can challenge me again? Next time, I won’t go easy on you. I don’t care what you call my mate; you have forty-eight hours to leave my pack.”
He tried to get up and attack me again, but his body was frail, and he could barely stand on his own two feet.
I grabbed him by the collar and threw him out, slamming the door behind him.
I turned around and looked at the state of my study. It was all because of him. I swore I was going to make life hell for him if he dared to look at my mate wrong.
I punched the wall angrily, and my fist began to bleed.
It was a promise. Jonas better watch his back.
