Olivia’s POV
I rushed to the back of the store. My muscles twitched with tension and anger. I was going to rip whoever touched her to shreds.
I reached the back aisle, and I was right. Olivia sat helplessly on the floor, and around her stood six men beaming at her lustfully, deciding what to do with her barely conscious body.
One of the men turned their attention to me, and the rest followed suit.
I snarled at them and felt my wolf bubble with agitation. Seeing Olivia lying on the floor helplessly made me furious.
I swung at the nearest unlucky mother fucker and sent him reeling to the floor. He sat up and wiped his face.
“Blood! Fuck you! Get him!”
The other five were hesitant, but they rushed at me. I was still taking in their movements for a while, and then my body acted. Every fibre in me was screaming at me to protect Olivia. I didn’t want any harm to come to her.
One by one, they all fell to the ground. My fists were covered with blood as I struck at flesh and bone.
I continued my onslaught, and soon, they were all on the ground. A pool of blood and groaning bodies were littered all over the floor, and they grovelled at my feet in agony.
I looked at the carnage around me and could feel my wolf slowly beginning to calm down.
A little whimper from Olivia had me rushing over to her.
“Olivia? Olivia, can you hear me?”
I shook her gently, but her eyes closed slowly, and I felt a wave of worry rush over me.
“Olivia, stay with me? I’m here. Olivia?”
She was unconscious, and beside her was a handkerchief. I picked it up, took a sniff, and coughed slightly. Chloroform. I sighed. She was going to be out cold for a while.
I took in her face and gently brushed away a strand of stray hair. No words could explain how happy I was to know that she was safe. I finally had her in my arms. She was where she belonged.
“Kitten, I’ve missed you so much. I’m here now…”
Her fingers were looking pale, and I began to worry.
“Pierre, tell all the men outside to distract that bastard waiting for her in his car. I’m going alone, and I’m taking Olivia with me. Once the job is done, I’ll tell you where to meet me.”
Pierre’s eyes seemed concerned.
“I should probably come with you, Alpha. I need to make sure that you’re okay.”
I growled angrily at his response.
“Do you really think that I can’t protect my woman?”
I didn’t wait for Pierre’s affirmation. I scooped Olivia in my arms and pressed her close to my body, trying my best to transfer my body heat to her and get her to warm up.
“Just capture the bastard outside and report to me once it’s done.”
I was grateful that Pierre wanted to help, but I couldn’t trust him at the time. I didn’t know what was wrong with Olivia, but her pheromones were overwhelming, and I couldn’t trust any other man around her.
I stood at the back entrance and waited for my men to swarm the black car.
“… You! Get out!”
Yells filled the air, and I could hear the sounds of guns being drawn and cocked.
That was my cue, and in a split second, I slipped under the cover of darkness and reached my black Bentley.
I laid Olivia gently in the back seat. She took a deep breath, and I felt relief fill me, but for a fleeting second.
Her skin was as cold as ice. I had to get her out of here. I turned on the car heating and got inside. Just as I was about to speed off, Pierre came to my window.
“I found this next to where Miss Olivia was lying. She probably did some shopping as well. I paid for it with your card, too.”
I nodded in gratitude as Pierre placed the shopping bag in the front seat and handed me my card.
He left, and I was racing down the asphalt in a few minutes.
My heart continued to pound in my chest, and I couldn’t help but check the back seat now and then. I would feel her skin, and I could tell that she was getting warmer slowly.
Her breathing was still weak, and her eyes remained shut.
We couldn’t stay on the road. For all we knew, that bastard could have asked men to tail us. We needed to stop somewhere and get some rest. I needed to attend to my kitten properly.
I checked the GPS for the nearest hotel and saw that it was about an hour away.
I sighed in relief. I had to get there fast.
I pressed my foot on the accelerator and zoomed down the road. Nothing mattered to me at this point except my mate. She had dominated my thoughts; all I wanted to do was keep her safe and be alone. I wanted her to open her eyes and stare at me with her bright blue eyes. I suddenly realised that I had forgotten how brilliant they were.
In forty-five minutes, I reached the hotel and parked in the parking lot.
I looked at the building and frowned a little. It was simple and not very luxurious.
“This is not exactly what I was going for, but I need to get her somewhere comfortable so that she can regain her consciousness.”
I parked the car and called Pierre.
“Pierre? Status report?”
His voice came strained over the phone.
“I am sorry that I couldn’t call you sooner. Whoever this guy is, he is a damn good fighter. He was able to subdue nearly half of our men.”
I gritted my teeth in anger. For Pierre’s sake, let him not escape.
“So where is he now?”
“We have captured him, Alpha. He’s been tightly bound. What are your next orders?”
I was relieved. Finally, it was all over.
“Take him back to the major city. Keep him locked in the hotel we were staying in. I want him heavily guarded.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
The call ended, and I placed my phone in my pocket.
I carried Olivia in my arms and took her inside. The front desk was empty except for a lady who sat there.
She turned to look at me, and her eyes grew wide in shock. She seemed even more stunned as soon as she saw an unconscious Olivia in my arms.
“I need a room for my daughter and me. She is really weak.”
The receptionist said nothing more and gave me the brochure of their rooms. I quickly chose the most expensive one, and she handed me the key.
Her suspicious glance made me uncomfortable. I couldn’t blame her. I would be suspicious if I saw a man carry a young lady into a hotel in such a state.
“Do you have a doctor as well? I need someone to attend to her. She passed out when we had a near collision with a truck.”
The receptionist’s suspicion immediately dissolved and was replaced with concern.
“I’m sorry. Yes, we do have one. I will send her to your room as soon as possible.”
I gave my sincere thanks and headed to my room. Olivia had become slightly warmer, and I felt my anxiety melt slowly. It was a good sign. I just hoped she would open her eyes soon.
As I climbed up the stairs, she whimpered and struggled slightly in my arms. I felt my protective instincts kick in and gently brushed her hair away.
“I’m here, Kitten. You are safe.”
I got into the room and saw that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I laid her on the bed and arranged the pillows around her so that she could be more comfortable.
There was nothing more that I could do. I sat on the bed and waited, stroking her hair and cheeks.
“Please wake up soon, mate…”
