Andre’s POV
Nicole was the last thing on my mind, and I quickly had Pierre on the important updates. I would deal with Nicole some other time.
“They lost him?! What the fuck do you mean by ‘they lost him’?!”
Just a few minutes ago, I had my hopes raised, thinking that I was going to find Olivia soon, and now they had lost track of the bastard that had taken her from me.
Pierre trembled again in fear and continued to press his keyboard furiously, trying his best to find what had happened to the man who had stolen my Olivia.
“How did you guys even lose him?”
“I… I… I think he knows that we are onto him.”
“There are five different routes that he could have taken, all unofficial. I think he ducked into one of them. We can’t find him anymore.”
I glanced at the map dismissively, “I don’t have time for this!”
“I don’t care what you do. Have men on all five routes. I want that car found and followed. I want Olivia found today. Our plan remains the same. We will track from behind and take the official route. If he took a diversion, he would still have to return to the main route that officially leads to the border. Did you hire the car I asked you to?”
“Yes, Sir. It’s outside.”
Pierre handed me the keys, and I grabbed my bag.
“Check us out and meet me in the car in two minutes.”
When I got to the car park, I got into the front seat. This was a matter of urgency, and I wasn’t going to let Pierre drive.
Pierre got into the driver’s side passenger seat, and we zoomed off.
Pierre pulled out his laptop, and we sped down the asphalt. The car purred like a kitten, and I put the pedal to the metal, pushing the car to its limits to compensate for the time we had lost.
“He had been spotted again, Alpha. He took a route 65.”
“Good. Don’t let him out of your sight. What about Olivia?”
Pierre pressed some keys and looked at the laptop screen.
“The car windows are heavily tinted, but one of our cameras was able to pick out her figure from the windscreen. She is safe. She is in the front seat beside him. But the image is blurry. He is pushing an insane speed of 300mph.”
My hands tightened on the steering wheel, and a growl rumbled in my throat.
The fact that he was sitting close to Olivia made my blood pressure skyrocket. But how did he know that we were on to him?
He drove like this was a high-speed car chase. No normal person drove at 300mph on the freeway. Or did Olivia know that I was after her, and she was deliberately trying to put as much distance between us as possible?
“Why are you trying to escape from me, princess?” I thought to myself.
“Fuck !”
Pierre’s exclamation made me jerk in my seat. He had never used a swear word before.
“I’m sorry, but the battery in my tracker is dead. We need to get new ones. I am still getting updates from our personnel. He just increased his speed to 310mph, but the car is in good shape. Nothing is going to happen to Miss Olivia. The roads are clear.”
“Good. Keep me posted. We can do without the new batteries.”
Grrrrr!
What? I glanced at him, and Pierre seemed slightly embarrassed.
“I’m sorry, sir. I have been too tensed to eat anything.”
My anger melted away slightly. I had been hard on Pierre, and my constant irritation had put him on edge. I wanted to find Olivia, but I couldn’t keep him hungry. I would never have been able to get this far without him.
I glanced at the car’s GPS and saw that a convenience store was an hour away. We could make a quick stop there.
****
We pulled up at the store, and I was filled with relief. I didn’t think I could bear to hear his stomach growl anymore.
“Take my card and get something for yourself.”
I handed him my gold card, and he took it.
“Excuse me, Alpha, but some of our men made stops at the store…”
I sighed and leaned back.
“Pay for everything with my card. I’ll wait in the car.”
I sat inside the car, waiting for Jonas. My hands tapped lightly and anxiously on the steering wheel. What was taking him so long?
I couldn’t count the number of times that I had stared at my watch.
My patience was slowly running out. Suddenly, a car zoomed in and pulled up in front of me.
My boredom and curiosity made me look, and I felt a gasp burst out from my lips.
A black BMW 7? No. It couldn’t be.
I held my breath and watched. The front door opened, and a lady stepped out, rubbing her hands together to save them from the nibbling evening cold.
“Olivia?”
I whispered to myself and watched her go inside the store. The man who had driven her was still in the car, waiting for her to return.
I caught another glimpse of her just before she entered the store. She was safe and sound, and he hadn’t harmed her in any way.
I took a deep breath and stared at the man through my tinted glass windows. That bastard had caused all this! How dare he lay his hands on her!
But one thing was certain: She wasn’t getting back into the car with him. She was leaving with me.
I was about to open my door when I realised we were parked quite close. He might recognise me and alert Olivia if I attempted to get out of the car.
No. I had to think of a better plan. I was still for a while, though every inch of my body was screaming at me to get out.
“Fuck!”
I got to the back seat and opened both doors to block him from seeing who was getting out and to confuse him on which side I was going to leave from.
I waited for a while and slipped out, crouching and slowly making my way to the side door of the mall. As soon as I was well hidden beside the mall, I locked the car doors and went inside.
As soon as I got in, Olivia’s scent filled my lungs. It was powerful and overwhelming, filling the entire store. I felt slightly dizzy, but I was able to steady myself.
The convenience store was huge. My mind was filled with only one thought: I had to find Olivia.
I weaved through the aisles and kept searching for her while my heart ached with longing.
Her scent was powerful and guided me through the aisles, but it worried me. It was too strong. It was not as strong as this when she was staying with me. Did something go wrong? Has that bastard done something to her? Had he hurt her?
I was exasperated, and my head began to ache. I couldn’t find…
“Don’t you dare touch me!”
I frowned. That was Olivia! Was she in trouble?
I moved towards the voice, and I could hear a slight commotion coming from the convenience store’s back door.
The shrieking became louder, and my heart began to thump in my chest.
Olivia’s scent still filled the air, but now I could smell about five or six guys around her.
“No!”
