Mollie gently shook her head, “I’m fine, thanks to Sylvia arriving in time.”
Almost everyone turned to look at them.
Lucille also saw Sylvia and her group. She smiled slightly and walked gracefully with Sabrina to Sylvia. “What’s going on, Miss Andrews? What happened?”
Sylvia narrowed her eyes slightly, glanced at Lucille, and then focused on the young actress. “Ms. Hogan, she bumped into my aunt. What do you think we should do about it?”
“Isn’t it simple?” Lucille smiled elegantly, raising her hand. “Take her away and blacklist her.”
The actress was so frightened that she almost fainted. She crawled to Lucille’s feet, pleading, “It wasn’t me. You can check the surveillance. Someone pushed me, really…”
Lucille’s expression remained indifferent, her gaze lofty. She bent down and lifted the actress’s chin. “I only see the result.”
Tears welled up in the actress’s eyes as she begged, “Please… spare me.”
“Sorry, that’s impossible.” Lucille’s smile remained gentle as she released her grip. Immediately, two men in black dragged the actress away.
“Is this result satisfactory to Miss Andrews and Clare?” Lucille elegantly took a towel from her assistant and wiped her fingers as if there were invisible germs on the actress’s face.
“Ms. Hogan, isn’t this a bit excessive?” Sylvia responded calmly, handing a piece of Black Forest cake to Mollie. “Auntie, have some cake.”
After being frightened, Mollie had no appetite for cake, but she still took it and nibbled on it.
She ate small bites of the cake while nervously glancing at the surrounding guests.
Everyone was talking.
Some people were trying to flatter the Hogan family. “It seems like someone doesn’t want Sabrina’s birthday party to be enjoyable.”
“No one got hurt, so why make such a fuss?”
“It’s disappointing.”
The Hipps family wasn’t as influential as the Hogan family now, so everyone quickly sided with the Hogan family.
Sabrina stood behind Lucille, jealously eyeing Sylvia’s exquisite face. Sylvia was like a masterpiece of God, with a perfect figure and aura that made her stand out at the party.
Sabrina’s spotlight was completely stolen by Sylvia.
Lara whispered in Sabrina’s ear, “Sabrina, I think Sylvia is deliberately causing trouble. You two used to work together… maybe she holds a grudge against you.”
“That seems unlikely.” Sabrina forced a smile. “She rarely goes to the hospital now, so we don’t see each other often. You might be overthinking it.”
Lucille had already instructed a dance troupe to liven up the atmosphere on stage. The music resumed, and the mood became lively again.
Lucille was always surrounded by followers. Seeing Lucille being surrounded by several big shots again, Sabrina lifted her skirt and headed to the drinks area with Lara.
Lara wore a dazzling gold dress, standing out in the crowd. In such events, women naturally competed in beauty.
“Look at that actress Lia; she’s dressed like a wild chicken.”
“Yeah, Lara looks noble and elegant.”
“Sabrina is also exceptionally stunning.”
Seeing them approach, several socialites gathered around to flatter them with various compliments.
Lara glanced at them haughtily, lightly swirling her wine glass. Her meticulously applied makeup was flawless.
She said nonchalantly, “Enough with the flattery; my ears are getting calloused.”
“We’re just speaking the truth.” A woman named Judith smiled ingratiatingly. “Lara, I heard you injured your foot recently. How is it now?”
This woman knew how to touch a sore spot! Lara thought of the humiliation she suffered from Franklin and her face darkened immediately. “It’s healed.”
Judith didn’t know how she had offended Lara and her smile froze. “Well… Miss Andrews is also here. Clare was frightened earlier; I’ll go… I’ll go offer them a drink.”
Hearing this, Lara glanced at Judith again. She looked at a nearby waiter and beckoned him over. The waiter respectfully held out a tray to her. “Lara.”
Lara handed Judith a bottle of juice from the tray. “Clare is pregnant and can’t drink alcohol, so take this juice instead.”
“Lara, you’re so considerate.” Judith quickly left with the juice.
The other socialites followed Judith towards Sylvia and Mollie in the rest area.
“When did you start caring so much about Clare?” Sabrina glanced at Lara. Lara raised an eyebrow and smiled elegantly, exuding the charm of a socialite. “Just being kind occasionally.”
Sabrina didn’t comment further.
They both looked towards the rest area simultaneously.
Sylvia and Mollie were surrounded by a group of socialites who were introducing themselves or making flattering remarks.
Sylvia remained indifferent while Mollie responded with an awkward smile.
At that moment, Judith opened the juice bottle and poured a glass for Mollie. “Clare, this juice is freshly squeezed and nutritious.”
Mollie took the juice without much thought and sipped it lightly. As she was about to take another sip, Sylvia stopped her.
“Freshly squeezed juice has high sugar content and can cause high blood sugar in pregnant women. It’s better to drink less.”
Mollie agreed with Sylvia’s advice. She always liked sweets, especially after getting pregnant when everything tasted bitter to her.
“Alright…” She reluctantly took another sip before putting the glass on the table in front of her.
Sylvia looked at her with clear eyes. “You already had a glass when you came in; you really shouldn’t have more.”
“You worry like an old lady.” Mollie sat there craving sweets. “Can I eat something else? If I can’t have sweets… can I have something salty?”
“There are plenty of lobsters and abalones in the seafood area; we can go there.” Sylvia stood up and held Mollie’s hand as they walked towards the seafood area.
The socialites started whispering as soon as they left.
“Sylvia seems so aloof.”
“Clare looks more approachable.”
“Did you notice? Their clothes… are designed by X designer…”
“So, Sylvia designed them herself.”
Jealousy and admiration filled their hearts.
One socialite also poured herself some juice and took a sip before spitting it out. “This juice tastes different from what I had before!”
“Really?” Judith’s breath caught as she quickly poured herself a glass and tasted it. “There’s no difference! Don’t talk nonsense.”
She glanced around before adding, “This is the Hogan family’s party; do you dare say their food and drinks are bad? Are you tired of living?”
The socialite stuck out her tongue apologetically. “My mouth always works faster than my brain.”
At that moment, a young girl in a white dress approached them. “Have you seen Miss Andrews?”
“Miss Olivia.” Judith noticed Olivia looked much better than before-spirited and healthy-unlike the girl who had been making headlines for attempted suicide recently.
Suppressing her surprise, Judith replied, “Miss Andrews went to the seafood area.”
Olivia smiled brightly. “Thank you.” She hurried towards the seafood area.
She was thrilled to see Sylvia at such an event.
She didn’t expect someone else would get there first.
When she reached the seafood area, she saw Carley already sitting with Sylvia and Mollie, chatting happily.
Olivia quickly walked over. “Carley, you came to see Miss Andrews without me.”
“I didn’t bring you because you came on your own.” Carley wasn’t afraid of her. “Come sit down.”
“Pregnant women shouldn’t eat crabs.” Sylvia tapped Mollie’s hand as she reached for a crab. “You can eat something else.”
Mollie reluctantly drank some juice instead. “I can’t eat this or that; what can I eat?”
“Eat this and this.” Sylvia placed some safe foods in front of her.
“Alright…” Mollie looked at them-foods she didn’t particularly like but were safe for pregnant women.
Sylvia glanced at Olivia’s well-dressed appearance. “When are you moving?”
“Tomorrow.” Olivia rested her chin on her hands, eyes sparkling with excitement. “I want to surprise my brothers.”
She hadn’t thought much about it; her small apartment was fully furnished with everything she needed. She just needed to bring money and some clothes for herself-a simple life that seemed wonderful.
Sylvia was about to agree when she heard a painful moan beside her. “Oh-”
Her heart tightened as she instinctively looked at Mollie beside her. Mollie was clutching her stomach in pain. “It hurts-Sylvia, it hurts-”
Sylvia’s face turned pale as she quickly helped Mollie stand up. “Auntie, don’t panic.”
She immediately checked Mollie’s pulse but found it erratic.
Anxious, she lifted the pregnant woman into her arms and hurriedly walked out. “Carley, notify my uncle!”
