Chapter 1144

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-11-21

Everyone was shocked, staring at Sylvia as she held the pale-faced Mollie. Perhaps finding the silver evening gown cumbersome, she took a few strides forward, holding Mollie with one arm while lifting her skirt with the other. With a swift motion, she tore the long skirt into a short, tight-fitting one, revealing her long, slender legs.
She looked both beautiful and fierce.
Sylvia then carried Mollie out quickly, her high heels clicking without hesitation. Mollie, in pain, had beads of sweat on her forehead and couldn’t help but moan, “It hurts…”
Clare, who had been discussing exercises with some colleagues from Sky Division, rushed towards Sylvia and Mollie upon hearing the news.
By this time, Sylvia had already placed Mollie in the car. As she started the engine, she heard footsteps approaching. Clare, Carley, and Olivia had arrived. Carley and Olivia got into their Porsche while Clare joined Sylvia in her car. The two cars sped out of the parking lot one after the other.
Back in the banquet hall, Lucille had received the news. She glanced coldly at her subordinate who reported to her and said sternly, “Find out who did this. If anything happens to the Hipps Family’s daughter-in-law, you’ll be held responsible!”
“Yes, right away,” the subordinate replied, quickly turning to leave.
Sabrina approached Lucille, flicking her newly manicured nails adorned with diamonds. “Mother, wouldn’t it be better if she miscarried?”
“What do you know?” Lucille sneered, her beautiful face filled with sarcasm and coldness. “If something happens to the Hipps Family’s daughter-in-law at our party, we’ll be the first ones suspected. Even though we didn’t do it, I won’t take the blame.”
Sabrina was shocked. It wasn’t her mother who did it. She had thought… it was her mother’s doing! If even she thought so, others would surely suspect her mother first. She broke into a cold sweat. “Mother… people will suspect you now.”
“Do you think I care?” Lucille’s eyes were icy. “Soon enough… it will be clear who is behind this.”
The hotel was filled with surveillance cameras; she didn’t believe anyone could escape her scrutiny.
At that moment, a man in black dragged a woman and threw her in front of Lucille. Sabrina looked down and saw Judith lying on the ground in a disheveled state. Her luxurious red dress was wrinkled, and her carefully styled hair was a mess.
Judith looked up at Lucille and Sabrina with a pale face, trembling. “Ms. Hogan, please believe me, I didn’t do anything.”
The Singleton family was a declining family with neither money nor power. Judith had some beauty, so Julius had invested everything in her, hoping she could marry a powerful man to support the Singleton family. Now she wondered why Lucille had caught her.
Julius saw his daughter Judith from afar and rushed over to apologize repeatedly. “Ms. Hogan, my daughter is young and may have offended you. Please be merciful.”
Lucille glanced at them indifferently. “Judith, did you put abortion drugs in Clare’s drink?”
“No, I didn’t,” Judith shook her head vigorously. “I didn’t do it. The drink was given to me by a waiter. It has nothing to do with me!”
She looked at Lucille in terror. “When the waiter gave me the drink, the lid was sealed. Other ladies can testify that I opened it for the first time.”
“Fine! Bring that waiter to me,” Lucille said with a smirk. “If I find out you’re lying…”
“I’m telling the truth! I didn’t do it,” Judith cried on the ground. “Sabrina and I were classmates; I wouldn’t ruin her birthday party.”
“You better not be lying.” Lucille turned to address all the guests with an authoritative voice that brooked no argument. “Mollie is in severe pain and has been taken to the hospital. Everyone here will be thoroughly investigated; not even a fly will escape! Bring that waiter here!”
“Oh my God! Will she miscarry?”
“Clare finally got married and had children; it’s not easy for him!”
“Yes!”
The crowd buzzed with shock.
“From Ms. Hogan’s attitude towards investigating this matter, it seems she didn’t orchestrate this.”
“She wouldn’t harm someone at her party.”
As whispers spread through the crowd, a man in black dragged a young girl in a waiter’s uniform to Lucille.
Judith recognized the waitress immediately and pounced on her, slapping her twice.
Caught off guard, the waitress’s face swelled like a bun as she screamed in pain. “What are you doing?”
Judith yelled angrily, “You wretch! Did you drug my juice?”
The waitress’s eyes filled with tears as she stubbornly denied it. “No! How could I? I’m a waitress; my job is to serve customers, not drug them!”
“Not talking? Fine!” Lucille waved her hand, and two men in black pressed the waitress to the ground. One of them pulled out a knife and stabbed it into the back of her hand.
The waitress screamed in agony. “It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me.”
In the crowd, Lara shivered at the sight and whispered to Louis beside her, “Uncle, this is too bloody.”
“What are you afraid of? You didn’t drug anyone,” Louis replied nonchalantly.
Lara’s eyes darted nervously as she wondered how Mollie was doing…
At the hospital, Mollie was taken to the emergency room for various tests.
Sylvia stayed by her side throughout, encouraging and comforting her. “Auntie, don’t be nervous or worried. The more anxious you are, the more stressed the baby will be. Your emotions directly affect the baby inside you; it’s not good for them.”
“Relax; I’m here. Everything will be fine,” Sylvia held her hand. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Mollie’s face was pale as her heart pounded with fear.
She loved children dearly and was overjoyed when she found out she was pregnant.
If she lost this baby, she would regret it deeply and blame herself forever for being careless at the party.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. “Sylvia, I’m scared… what if…”
“Don’t say such unlucky things,” Sylvia forced a comforting smile. “Everything will be fine; all your prenatal check-ups have been normal.”
Just then, a doctor approached with test results. “There’s a small amount of hawthorn in your system; you might have consumed something containing hawthorn. The amount is small and shouldn’t have a significant impact on your body. Stay in the hospital for observation for a few days.”
He handed the report to Sylvia. “Dr. Sylvia, please take a look.”
As Sylvia reviewed the report, the doctor asked Mollie, “Does your stomach still hurt? Is there any bleeding?”
“A little bit earlier, but it stopped,” Mollie replied nervously.
“Hawthorn and foods like crab can cause miscarriages; you must be careful,” the doctor advised before leaving.
Mollie looked at the IV in her arm and worriedly asked Sylvia, “Will these medications harm the baby?”
“They’re just for stabilizing the pregnancy; there won’t be any side effects,” Sylvia reassured her. “Have some porridge later to warm up.”
At that moment, Clare entered with freshly bought porridge. “Honey, how are you feeling?”
Mollie nodded and tried to sit up but was gently pushed back by Clare. “You should lie down; I’ll feed you.”
Sylvia noted Mollie’s still pale face. “You shouldn’t sit up for long; rest and take care of yourself.”
When Hipps Family members heard about what happened at the party, Queena, Mr. Hipps, and other family members rushed to the hospital late at night.
“Mollie!” Queena exclaimed anxiously as she reached Mollie’s bedside and saw her haggard face. “The Hogan family went too far! They almost caused my daughter-in-law to miscarry in public! I’m furious!”
“The matter is still under investigation,” Sylvia said thoughtfully. “I don’t think Lucille would be so foolish; someone else must be behind this.”
“Sylvia is right,” Clare said angrily. “I’ve already told Lucille that I won’t let this go easily.”
“Calm down everyone; it’s cold outside,” Sylvia urged Carley and Olivia to leave as well.
