Her last breath

**A few days later**
Amara stared at the test results, her face covered with sweat. How did this happen? It’s been a month since she last saw and talked to him so how come she was now pregnant?
Then she recalled the intimate moment she had with him the day before Catherine threw him out. She was really shocked and pained to find out that he had always been cheating on her so she forgot to take her after sex pills.
What is she going to do now? How will she cope when she has nothing? She couldn’t go back to Hector now since she had already lied that she had a miscarriage.
If she knew that she was pregnant, she wouldn’t have tried to framed Catherine. At least, a baby would secure her spot in the house. Also, why did she feed Hector those drugs?
Without those drugs, he would have been fertile enough to impregnate her but she was so disgusted to be touched by him talk more of carrying his baby and now, see the mess she had landed herself in.
She stood up shakily, ignoring the doctor’s advice on how to take care of her body as she was now carrying another human and slowly walked out. As she left the hospital, she couldn’t be bothered by the activities going on.
When she left the hospital’s building, she was startled by a loud horn that brought her out of her deep thoughts. The driver was busy cussing out at her for not watching where she was going.
That was when she realised that she was walking on the busy road. She held her tummy protectively and ran back to the pedestrian side of the road. After walking for a while, she sighted a bus stop and sat on the bench, in wait for the bus to arrive and take her home as she couldn’t afford a taxi.
She sighed deeply as her downfall finally dawned on her. When last did she ride a bus? Probably five years ago before she met Hector. Now, the great Amara Dyson couldn’t even afford her own taxi.
She stared at the test results again, her eyes filled with tears when she saw the words ‘One month pregnant’ written on it. Why did it have to be Andrew of all people?
Why didn’t she swallow in her disgust and try to make Hector impregnate her? At least, he has the money to take care of her and the child and he did really love her.
Andrew is a cheat and now, he’s broke. There’s no way she would be happy with him if she decideds to go look for him. She thought about staying with her mother but shook off the thought immediately.
Her mother had never been in supoort with her plans and warned her that if it backfired, she wouldn’t take her in. Also, they haven’t been in contact since the day she got married to Hector.
There’s no way her mother would ever take her in now. It’s now worse since she has another mouth to feed now. Even Richard Cartwright had cut off all contacts with her the moment she was thrown out of the company saying he had no use for her anymore.
Amara sighed in frustration as she thought of what to do and how to cope. She bowed down her head and the tears she bad been trying to hold in fell freely down her cheeks.
“Why is life so hard on me? Is it so bad that I wanted good things for myself?” She asked herself.
“They were too rich to even notice the money missing in their company so why now? Why did Catherine have to come in and ruin everything for me? I should have killed that bitch that day. Even if I end up in prison, I would still be happy that I had fully destroyed that family.” She muttered to herself.
As she was deeply engrossed in her thought, she received a phonecall from Andrew. Since the day that he was chased out of the house, he had always been calling her and was trying to make amends with her, saying he didn’t mean to cheat on her. Seeing his name flash on the screen, an idea came to her.
“Just because I failed to end her before doesn’t mean I can’t do it now. I have to kill that bitch before the hearing and I know who would help me.” She muttered to herself and wiped her tears before answering the call.
She told him she wanted to meet and asked him to send her his address. Andrew was surprised but happy at the same time that she finally decided to meet with him so he quickly texted her his address.
Amara used the last money in her purse that was meant for her dinner to order a taxi to the address, ignoring to unbearable hunger that she was feeling. At least, she would get to eat in his house.

She got to the address in no time and paid the taxi driver before coming out of the taxi. She stared at the building in front of her in shock, not expecting it to be this tattered.
It was almost the same as the last time she came here, except that the last time was much better. He had been living with the Dyson’s and stealing from them for almost two years but he didn’t ever think of renovating his family house??
Her face scrunched up in disgust as she walked closer to the house. When Andrew noticed that she had arrived, he ran out to meet her. She immediately changed her expression to a wide smile when she saw him coming.
“My love.” He called out when he got closer to her and attempted to kiss her on the cheek but she turned away and walked into the house, leaving him standing alone on the spot.
He was angry with her reaction but held himself back. At least, she came to see him so things would be better for him soon. With that thought, he followed her into the house.
As Amara entered the house, she frowned at the mess she saw inside. It was as if a pig lived in the house. The whole living room was turned upside down. There were pieces of packed food and his clothes lying every where.
She almost screamed out when a rat passed by her. The inside was much worse than the outside of the house.
“I know you don’t have the money for a renovation but can’t you at least clean where you live?” She asked Andrew, unable to hide her disgust.
“I haven’t really had the time to do so, but now that you’re here, you could help me..” His words were cut short when she gave him a death stare.
“Forget what I said.” He muttered and looked the other way. Amara was starting to regret why she had come to see him when she remembered the plan that she had.
“I need your help.” She muttered.
“What could I possibly help you with? I’m dead broke now.” He reminded.
“I know that but I just wanted someone to support me with the plan that I have. You wouldn’t need to spend any money because I’ll be the one paying.” She said.
Hearing that, Andrew’s ears perked up. “What’s the plan?” He asked.
“I need you help in ending that bitch Catherine.” His enthusiasm died down the moment he heard that.
“Why would you want to do that?” He asked.
“She’s the reason I was sent out with nothing from that house. I need to kill her to..”
“Wait.. wait… wait.. did you just say that you’ve been sent out of the house too? And worst of all, with nothing?” He asked, like he didn’t hear her the first time.
“So?? What does that have to do with what I’m saying?” Amara asked in anger.
“Do you have any money stashed somewhere like you used to?” He asked.
“How would I have when you spent all of them on that stupid jewelry you purchased for that bitch?” She asked back, referring to Catherine.
“So you’re dead broke and still acting like you have something to offer. How do you even plan to sponsor your plan to end Catherine?” He asked again.
“I.. I’ll find a way.” She stammered out. Andrew stared at her quietly for a while before he bursted out into laughter.
“What’s so funny?” Amara asked angrily.
“I’ve made a big mistake.” He muttered admist his laughter. He calmed down when he saw the huge frown on her face and said to her;
“Get out of my house!!”
Amara stared at him in surprise when she heard that. “What??”
“I said you should get out of my house!!” He ordered, a little bit louder this time.
“But, you were the one that sought me out first.”
“Yeah, that was when I thought you could help me but now that I know that you’re also broke like me, there’s no need for me to have this talk with you. Go and kill Catherine by yourself because I don’t want to have any business with you anymore.” He said and tried to push her out but she wouldn’t budge.
“I’m not leaving here, not after all of the years I’ve wasted on you. It’s all your fault that I couldn’t fully destroy that family.” She said.
“It doesn’t really matter now since we are both in the same pit.” Andrew said to her.
“Except that I am carrying your child.” She blurted out without thinking but that made Andrew freeze on his spot.
“What did you just say?” He asked as stared at her with eyes filled with disbelief.
“I am pregnant and the baby is yours.” She said again, but this time, with confidence. Her confidence died immediately when she saw the dark look that had replaced the surprised gaze on his face.
That was when she began to rethink her decision of breaking the news to him at that moment. Before she could do anything, he suddenly landed a hard blow on her face.
“Who said you could have my child when you have nothing to offer me??” He asked in anger, not minding that she had fallen on the floor due to the harsh blow he gave her.
Amara held her cheek in surprise, not expecting him to get violent on her. She tried to make a run for it but Andrew easily caught her and severely beat her while blaming her for his downfall.
Amara was beaten so badly that she started bleeding from her lower body. Realizing something was wrong, Andrew fled immediately, leaving the almost lifeless Amara on the floor with think layers of blood covering all areas of her body.
Due to the amount of beating she took and the fact that she was pregnant, she couldn’t survive it. As she drew her last breath, she slowly placed her hands on her flat belly and a lone tear left her eyes. Her child had been killed by it’s father, the man she loved.
