Even though what Rachel did today was wrong, I couldn’t let her die after knowing what was about to happen since she is Nicholas’ cousin; so I decided to take action.
“Where’s your phone?” I asked Nicholas, urgency laced in my tone. When he saw how serious I was, he didn’t ask any question as to why I was asking and gave it to me immediately.
His phone didn’t have any lock so it was really easy to get access to it.
“Where’s Rachel’s number?” I asked as I scrolled through his contacts.
“The number before yours in my call history.” He answered. I clicked on the call history and saw an unsaved number underneath mine. Thinking it would be hers, I dialed it. After ringing twice, she picked the call.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve to call me again.” Her annoying voice resounded from the other end.
“It’s me, Nicholas’ wife.” I ammouced. Even though I wasn’t with her, I could picture the deep scowl on her face.
“Why are you calling me? To humiliate me the more or to apologize?” She asked, anger laced in her voice. I sighed deeply, not enjoying the tone in which she was using to talk to me since I was much older than her.
But I had to do this, for Nicholas’ sake and because it is the right thing to do. If I know such an accident was bound to happen, I should help prevent it for humanity sake.
“Neither, I just wanted to warn you.” I said. I didn’t expect that sentence would sound threatening because she suddenly lashed out at me.
“You think I would sit still and let you do what you wish. I am Rachel Carthwright and I will surely get back at you even if it’s the last thing I do. I’ll never let peasants like you walk over me. Never!!” She screamed out angrily.
“Calm down, that wasn’t what I meant. I just wanted to warn you that it’s raining heavily right now.”
“So? You think I can’t see that too?” She asked rudely.
I sighed deeply and rubbed my temples; “Just get out of your car immediately if you notice an unusually heavy traffic on the road.” I advised.
“Why would I listen to the words that come out of your mouth? Are you a soothsayer??” Rachel asked.
“I’m not forcing you to heed my words and I’m not a soothsayer. Whether you choose to listen to me or not, that’s your problem. Goodbye.” I said and ended the call immediately since it was getting really hard for me to hold back my anger.
“Thank you for the phone.” I said to Nicholas and handed over his phone to him.
“What was that about?” He asked as he stared at me suspiciously.
“Just a nagging feeling I had. It usually comes when I sense that something bad is about to happen.” I lied smoothly.
“Really?” He asked, his suspicious gaze not leaving.
“Yes, it’s the same one I had earlier that made me rush down here when I’m not supposed to be back at this time.” I lied again and that was enough for him to believe me.
He nodded thoughtfully and stopped asking questions. I sighed within me when the interrogation was finally over. The lie I told now was easily believable than the truth of me being reborn.
I could already imagine his reaction if I decide to tell him the actual truth. I didn’t want him to look at me like I was crazy; so even if I feel really bad for hiding this secret from him, I would feel worse if I had told him.
I was about to head into the room and change my office wear into a more comfortable house wear when I felt Nicholas pull me back by my waist.
“Where are you running off to?” He asked as he made me sit on his lap while he sat on the couch.
“To change my clothes.” I answered.
“Don’t worry, I’ll do that for you. We need to continue from where we had stopped earlier.” He muttered, lust had fully clouded his eyes.
I chuckled softly and placed my hand on his cheekbones before leaning in to kiss him. He held the back om my neck and kissed me back passionately. Before I knew it, mine and his clothes were sprawled on the floor and he had taken us to the room.
?Later that evening
After our passionate time together, we both decided to make dinner together. After cooking, we served the food and ate together. When we were done, we cleaned the kitchen and both retired to the room.
While Nicholas was washing up in the bathroom, I was laying comfortably on the bed, my eyes glued to my laptop until I heard something on the television that drew my attention.
The accident that happened in my last life did occur today like I had remembered. The explosion was broadcasted on the news but I didn’t see much casualties like in my past life. Rachel’s name wasn’t even mentioned.
Nicholas cane out of the bathroom a few minutes later wearing just a towel. He was really surprised to see the news. Before he could say anything, he heard his phone ringing.
It was Rachel and she called, asking to meet with the both of us. I rolled my eyes, thinking about what that brat might want to say now. I still really happy though.
Happy that I was able to reduce the amount of casualties by warning just Rachel. Thankfully, I didn’t let my emotions cloud my judgment.

?Days later
I was currently at a Cafe. I was with Amara and my lawyer and we wanted to get Amara’s signature for the divorce papers. After she read all of the clauses on the paper, she frowned and slammed the paper on the table.
“There’s no way I’ll sign this agreement. I have been married to your father for almost five years and he didn’t leave a single property for me.” She grumbled, obviously dissatisfied with the division of assets in the divorce agreement.
“Well, if you didn’t share the bed with ny husband and stole funds from the company, you wouldn’t be divorcing him in the first place.” I muttered, making her face go red in anger and embarrassment.
She reluctantly picked up the pen and put in her signature in the places offered. When she was done, the lawyer collected the divorce papers and secured them in his briefcase.
“Now that we’ve settled that issue, I wanted to let you know that you have a court hearing this Saturday for all the crimes you’ve committed.” I announced.
“What?? No.. you can’t prove anything.” She stated in fear, making me laugh out loud.
“You know I can and if you try to run away, you’ll be caught and the charges against you will only increase so make the wise choice.” I muttered and stood up.
“Also, don’t forget to bring your lover since you both were in this together.” I added and left, feeling really satisfied.
