Earlier, I had parted ways with Nicholas so I wouldn’t be suspected of having an affair with him. I noticed the shock in Amara’s eyes when I stepped into the hall. The bitch wasn’t expecting to see me here. Too bad.
“What’s going on?” I asked with fake tears in my eyes as I stared at the large monitor.
“Cathy… I…” Dad stammered out, not knowing what to say.
I could see the concern written all over his face. He probably wasn’t expecting that I would catch my own husband having an affair at a very important and public event.
With tears dripping down my eyes, I ran out of the hall. “Catherine.. wait..” Dad called as he chased after me but I didn’t stop. I wasn’t done yet.
I ran directly to the room Andrew and Matilda were. With tears in my eyes, I placed my hands on the door knob and I was about to open the door when I saw Amara rushing towards so.
She was in panic because she knew what was going on in the room. Before she could get to where I was, I pushed the door open, revealing Andrew, naked and pounding into Matilda.
“Oh my God!!!” I screamed out and covered my mouth with my hands in feigned shock.
My loud voice was enough to make them come back to their senses. Andrew pushed Matilda away from himself and put on his clothes swiftly but it was already too late. A huge crowd had formed already and they all caught him in the act.
“Catherine..” He called and tried to touch me but I moved away from him immediately.
“What is going on here?? How dare you betray my daughter?!?!” My father asked angrily.
“What?? I would never do that to you Catherine.” He denied as he tried to step closer to me but dad stood in our middle, hindering him from coming closer.
“That isn’t what it looked like. Why are you still lying??”
“Please believe me. I never intended to to it. I wasn’t in my right senses.”
I moved dad aside and walked closer to him; “Yeah… you weren’t in your right senses when you were busy pounding into her like a fucking animal!!” I screamed out at him.
“She seduced me! She did this to me. Look at those candles..” He said as he pointed at the candles.
“She lured me here and made me intoxicated before she pounced on me. I wasn’t doing it on purpose.” He explained.
He sounded so sincere that the people around couldn’t help but believe him. Even the candles was enough reason for them to buy his lies. Amara took that chance and interfered into the matter.
“How dare you!!” She raised her hand and slapped Matilda. It was very hard that it made her fall on her knees.
“I’m so sorry madam. I was so jealous. I’ve always had eyes for your husband Andrew so I lured him here on purpose and drugged him so I could sleep with him. Please forgive me.” She pleaded as she tried to touch my feet but I moved away.
“You plead for forgiveness like it’s that easy. You almost ruined someone’s marriage. You can’t go scot free. As from today, you’re fired and don’t ever set foot in our mansion again!!” Amara said.
She bursted out into tears and kept pleading but all her begging fell unto deaf ears.
“Catherine dear.. I’m so sorry. If I had known that she would be this despicable, I wouldn’t have hired her.” Amara said to me but I just gave her a blank look.
“I need to be alone.” Was the only thing I said before I excused myself.
I went back to the hotel room I booked and switched off my laptop. After that, I sat down on the chair and scoffed angrily when I remembered what had happened.
Who knew they would pull a reverse card like this and put all the blame on someone else? I had them already. I already had an excuse to finally divorce that fool but he doesn’t want to let me go.
And Matilda, why would she take all the blame?? She just a worker under Amara but she would do anything for her even to the extent of loosing her job and dignity.
It seems like their relationship is deeper than it looks. I have to find out about that so I can be able to finally turn Matilda against Amara. For now, I have to think of my next plan.
I can’t divorce Andrew because of the excuse he gave. Everyone thinks he was drugged and me divorcing him would make me seem like I’m someone bad. Dad might not even appreciate the idea.
This plan hasn’t fully failed. I am able to draw a line between I and Andrew with this excuse and he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. Also, it seems like I have caused a rift between the two lovers.
I saw the jealous and angry look in Amara’s eyes when she watched the video. Things wouldn’t really be rosy between the both of them like it used to be. I was still deep in my thoughts when I heard a knock on the door.
I heard dad’s voice and resumed with my sad act then I proceeded to open the door for him. He entered and pulled me to sit next to him on the couch.
“You must be really shocked and feel betrayed.” He began, with my hands in his.
“Yes dad. I never expected he would ever do this to me. Our marriage might not be rosy… yes but this just too much. It isn’t my fault that I lost our baby.” I muttered as my tears resumed.
“I’m so sorry baby. I can’t begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Take heart.” He consoled as be patted my back lovingly.
“I’m trying to but I just can’t fathom being able to go back to the way we used to be. I can’t let go of the scene between him and th… that.. whore.”
“I know but you have to see things from his own perspective. Like he said, he was framed and drugged. He wouldn’t have done it if he was in his right mind.”
“Why are you defending him dad? You of all people should understand how I’m feeling now.” I complained.
“I do.. I do understand you but we also have to think logically. We can’t be biased in a situation like this. He was drugged Cathy.. he would never knowingly cheat on you.” Dad said.
I stared at my father in surprise. Is he really the person that’s saying this?? Like I had expected, Amara had gotten to him already but I didn’t know it would be this soon.
I recalled how dad treated me in my past life due to my scandal and it made me really mad. He didn’t care to listen to what I had to say but now, he’s here defending Andrew.
I should have never let Amara into our lives. She had him wrapped around ehr fingers and clouded his judgements to the extent that he doesn’t reason well like he used to.
“Alright dad.. I understand.” I muttered. I knew it was best to not argue with him as it wouldn’t get me anywhere.
“Good. Now, wipe your tears and tidy up yourself because we have to go back to the party. You are the heir to this company, you can’t afford to look weak in front of everyone.” Dad said as he cleaned my tears with his thumb.
I nodded and sniffed in my snot. I dried my tears and applied makeup to conceal my hooded eyes. I took in a deep breath before leaving the room with dad.
I know dad cares about me but he doesn’t really know how to go about it all because of Amara. I need to erase Amara from his life for good so he would go back to the way he used to be.
Right now, I don’t have much power as I’m nothing but just his heir. I need someone that would help me climb up that ladder. I was still deep in my thoughts when I suddenly had that feeling that someone was watching me.
I turned on my heels and saw Nicholas, his dark gaze not leaving mine. When he noticed I caught him staring, he smiled and raised his wine glass as a distant toast to me.
I smiled at his gesture and did the same too. He gave me one last stare before he disappeared into the crowd. That’s it!! With him as my patner, I would be unstoppable. I’m going to make him my ladder to victory!! He’s the key!
