It hasn’t been that long since Andrew’s scandal had been exposed to the entire guests in the hall but the party had gone back to the way it was. Rich people always know how to keep their composure even though something big was happening but that didn’t mean I wasn’t getting pitiful gazes from some people around.
Ever since I rejoined the party, I was getting more side glances than usual and people around were whispering amongst themselves anytime I pass by but they act like they weren’t gossiping about me the moment I turn my attention to them.
I was expecting something like this to happen so I didn’t really bother about them. All that was on my mind was to find a way to secure a meeting with Nicholas but that wasn’t bound to happen soon.
Every one knows that Nicholas and I are sworn enemies due to the fact that we always bump heads anytime we cross paths so meeting him now could raise suspicions. I just need to find a way to meet him without having to go to his company since it’s almost impenetrable for someone like me that’s the heir to a rival company.
I took a sip of my wine and stared around the large hall. As expected, Andrew and Amara were nowhere to be found. They were probably in a secluded place, cussing themselves out.
I smirked when the idea of the both of them fighting crossed my mind. It was surely going to be an entertaining scene to watch. I was still at my spot and just watching as all the guests interacted with one another when my eyes accidentally landed on him.
I wanted to look away but it was just so hard to. Even though he was in the midst of other rich people, he stood out the most. The way he talked softly but his eyes still had that sharp and dark look so the other men spoke with respect even though they were older so as not to offend him.
His composure as he talked to them. He was neither pompous nor did he act like he was below them. He acted normal but with just his powerful aura, one could easily tell he was no ordinary man.
Nicholas Armani is a very big shot in the business world. No one knew how he did it but he was able to climb up the ladder without a family name as his stepping stone.
Up to three years ago, the name Armani wasn’t even heard of but now, it’s the most feared name. No one wanted to cross him, not even my father because of how ruthless he was rumored to be. That was one of the reasons my father didn’t support my attitude towards him.
I smiled when I recalled how I used to treat him in my past life. Nicholas Armani… I thought he hated me… I thought he hated my guts not until he came to help me in my dire time of need.
Funny isn’t it, how life can be. My sworn enemy was the only one that cared enough to believe in me when no one else would. Even after everything I’ve done to him… the public insults I rained on him anytime we crossed paths but he still came for me.
I have to admit it, I was really immature in my past life. I did a lot of embarrassing things including how I treated him. I was so stupid but my eyes were finally opened during my last moments on earth.
I was still staring intently at him and deep in my thoughts when; “He’s really handsome isn’t he??” I heard and was pulled back to reality immediately.
I whipped my head to the direction the voice came from; “What??” It was a young lady who I must say is very gorgeous.
“I noticed you staring at him. Don’t tell me you’re one of his many admirers too.” She muttered as her eyes widened in surprise.
“W.. what?? No!! I wasn’t staring at him.” I lied, feeling really embarrassed that I was caught ogling at someone.
“No need to be so defensive. I clearly caught you staring at him.” She argued. Since this lady wasn’t ready to back down, I guess I have to play the only card I have now even though I wasn’t really comfortable with it.
“Why would I be staring at another man when I’m married?” I asked as I tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear. That way, I was able to discretely show her my wedding ring without having to point it at her face.
“I know you’re married.” She said as she turned her gaze towards the large monitor in the hall.
“Ohh..” I nodded my head in understanding. “You also watched the clip.” I muttered.
“Obviously. But don’t feel shy about what you did. Being married doesn’t stop you from eye fucking other guys… especially if you’re married to a scum like your husband.” She muttered the part where she insulted Andrew under her breath so I couldn’t hear but I did and I pretended like I didn’t.
“What do you mean by eye fucking??” I asked with a light chuckle as I palmed my cheek in embarrassment.
“The look you were giving him wasn’t a normal one. You were staring at him like you want him to just pounce on you here and now. It was so intense.”
“What??” She laughed out when she saw how embarrassed I looked.
“No need to be so embarrassed. You aren’t the only person that’s doing it.” She said and I stared around only to see more than half the ladies in the hall staring at him.
I turned back to stare at her. “What about you? Are you giving him the fuck me look too?” I asked.
She made a very nauseated face. “Me?? What?? Gross no.” She muttered as she placed her hands on her chest like she just finished puking.
“You make it sound like it’s very irritating.”
“That’s because it is.” She argued.
“I don’t really support you in that. I mean look at him…” I turned my attention back to him.
“… he’s very wealthy, smart and above all, sexy.” I don’t know what ever demonic spirit that had possessed my body. I just found myself describing him that way.
“Yeah.. I don’t see him that way.” She said after staring at him for only a brief second.
“What do you see then?”
“All I see is an annoying person with an annoying personality.”
I laughed out when she said that. “Seriously?? Do you know him personally?” I asked.
Her eyes flickered in surprise. “Wait.. don’t you know me?”
“Am I supposed to?” I asked back.
Her surprised look turned into an amused one. “Fascinating… I guess I have to introduce myself now…” She stretched out her right hand for a handshake.
“My name is Theresa Armani, Tessa for short.”
“Theresa Armani?!?! As in the Theresa Armani!! Nicholas’ sister?!?!” I said in shock.
“The one and only.” She said with a wide smile. My eyes grew wider and I quickly shook her outstretched hand.
“Oh my God!! Forgive me for all I just said. I didn’t really know who you are.”
“It’s fine. Don’t worry. I..” She wasn’t able to complete her sentence when she suddenly got a text message. She clicked on the message and stared at it for a while before she turned her attention back to me.
“My attention is needed somewhere else so I have to leave.” She announced.
“Oh no.. it’s fine. You can go.”
“I would love to speak to you sometime. If you don’t mind, can we exchange numbers?” She asked.
“Sure!!” I exclaimed and brought out my phone. We exchanged numbers before she bid me farewell and left.
I stared at the number on my phone and smiled. It seems like setting up a meeting with Nicholas would be much more easier than I had expected.
