Luna Mavana stormed into the library, breathing slowly and deeply.
The thought of not giving her husband the final honor of burying him sagged her shoulders. “I have to deal with them. I will not spare anyone… ” A sudden thought came to her mind, cutting short her statement.
That is exactly what Beta Fae’s father says whenever there is an issue of betrayal. Her goals and mission doubled, and her melancholy mood swiftly turned to rage.
Kill her parents’ killer, the witnesses, and the betrayers, regardless of who they are or how much power they wield. As she took a deep breath, each of her blinks flashed with determination and revenge.
Kill the betrayers of this pack, find out who sent those intruders, and rule this pack properly, she looked over the door, the doorknob twisting, indicating that someone was about to enter the room.
“Why is this thing locked?” When she heard a masculine voice, she recognized it as Gamma Loan.
“I have to hide from those monsters,” he muttered, pushing his weight into the door to open it. Luna Mavana dashed to a corner and hid well, intending to listen and discover who the monsters were.
With a loud creak and a thud on the ground, the door swung open, and Gamma Loan fell to the ground.
He sprang up and pushed the door shut, twisting the keys inserted into the doorhole until he was certain that no one could enter the room.
Unexpected tears welled up in his eyes as he sank into the cold floor, “I should not have listened to them; I should not have done what I did years ago; I should have been the better person,” he said in between his silent sobs.
“I am the worst; I deserve to die… If I had not given Damian’s father the wolfsbane, he would not have died, and late Alpha Damian would not have slumped after hearing the news, and he would not have needed any treatment if he had been poisoned. I am a useless old man.” He wails and scratches his skin with his fingers.
Luna Mavana gasps silently from where she had fled earlier, her hands flying to her mouth in shock.
“So he killed Damian’s father, and…” She mumbled, refusing to believe it; she knew Gamma Loan to be a powerful and emotionally intelligent man who would not be swayed by external pressures or threats.
Gamma Loan abruptly stopped the sobs and wails, and Luna Mavana’s eyes darted around, hoping to see what was going on without being caught.
Adrenaline rushed through her veins as she saw Gamma Loan convulsing on the floor.
“What on Earth is going on?” She muttered, rushing out of her hiding place and towards Gamma Loan. Her knees collided beneath her, beside Gamma Loan, whom she held in her hands.
Gamma Loan’s lips formed a sad smile as he raised one arm and shakily placed it on Luna Mavana’s shoulder.
“I got what I deserved.” “Your husband, Alpha Damian, will not die, he is not dead.” Gamma Loan stuttered, causing Luna Mavana to fix her gaze on him, puzzled.
” I exchanged the poison that was supposed to be given to him for an antidote I found in your room that same day; I did not want to take any chances and watch him die when I killed his father, and if he died, I would be indirectly one of his killers… The Elders, the evil ones in this pack, are still in contact with Alpha Damian’s cousin… ” His confession was cut short when his body began jerking violently, his muscles contracting involuntarily, his legs and hands strained, and a high-pitched scream escaped his throat.
Luna Mavana realized he had been poisoned; she needed to hear the final words from Alpha Damian’s cousin; she did not want to believe.
She rushed to the door, grabbed the key, twisted it impatiently in the keyhole, and the door opened with a small clack.
She needed to get the poisoning antidote she had kept hidden from everyone, so she dashed to her room, only to find it locked.
“What the..?” She yelled; her muscles contracting, and an unknown strength washed over her; she took a step backward before rushing forward again, her entire weight colliding with the door. The door detached from its frame and fell backward, revealing the room.
She heard some scrambling footsteps and dashed to the most suitable hiding place, where she discovered two maids trembling, fear lingering in each blink.
“What are you doing here? ” She inquired but was met with silence and the thudding heartbeats of the trembling maids.
Luna Mavana’s lips smirked as she let out a nervous laugh, “The next thing I will say to you girls is the order to slit your throats.” Her statement instilled deep fear in them.
“I am sorry, Luna, but we were ordered to come plant some wolfsbane in your room. They took it from the garden as well, and although we were shocked and refused, they intimidated us and persuaded us that it would benefit your health and the development of the unborn child in your womb.” One of them spoke up, unable to make eye contact with Luna Mavana.
She muttered, “The dumbest maids I have ever seen, How on earth will a wolfsbane be for a werewolf’s wellbeing,” and was about to finish berating them when she remembered why she had entered the room.
She hurried to her underwear cabinet and took out the antidote, a potion, as panic and anxiety took over her thoughts and affected her facial expressions.
She hurried to the library after saying, “Pack all the wolfsbane and covertly dump it back to your sender, not directly but indirectly into their room and see what will happen.”
As she entered the library, her steps stopped and she started to have trouble breathing because every time she inhaled or exhaled, a painful piercing followed.
When she saw the gore scene-a knife stabbed into Gamma Loan’s temples and another into his stomach-a blood-curdling scream escaped her throat.
When she saw the puddle of his blood beneath him, she retched and gagged in disgust as she saw a glimpse of his intestines outside. She immediately ran outside as she was overcome with disgust, agony, rage, and all other negative feelings.
“Who could have committed such a murder, or was it the Elders’ doing?” As she left without knowing where she was going, her thoughts drifted.
A push sent her butt to the ground, and as she sprang up her head to lash out at the person, she was startled to see who was in front of her.
” Daisy? ” She rubbed her eyes and called, only to discover it was all in her head.
