Ulric thought to himself that he just wanted to look, and definitely not interfere with anything.

By the time the clinic at the hospital had closed, Brandon, carrying Natalie in his arms, rushed directly into the emergency room to find a doctor. Rosalind followed behind, registering and paying the fees. It was fortunate that he came; otherwise, Rosalind alone would have really struggled to manage!
After examining Natalie, the doctor diagnosed her with acute gastroenteritis. Fortunately, it was not severe, but she still needed an IV infusion. After a busy flurry of activity, by the time Natalie was given the IV, it was nearly midnight. She lay on the hospital bed and fell asleep, while Brandon sat beside her, watching over her IV drip.
“Miss Ruell, why don’t you go back first? I’ll be here, and I’ll head back after she finishes her drip.”
“No worries, it’s not convenient for you here, and she is a girl after all. If she needs to go to the bathroom or something, you can’t follow her,” Rosalind, though somewhat tired, insisted on waiting until her assistant had finished her treatment before leaving.
The doctor mentioned that Natalie should stay overnight for observation and could leave tomorrow if there were no issues.
“That’s true,” Brandon said, trying not to look at her too much and forcing himself to look away. He had only recently joined Eastsun Corporation, so he had only seen Rosalind a few times before, and those were in places like meeting rooms. Now, being so close to her, he felt something stirring in his chest, about to burst out…
“You’ve been on a flight all day, why not go back to the hotel and rest?”
“If I leave, then Miss Ruell will be alone? It’s the middle of the night, and it’s not safe for a girl.”
The doctor said that Natalie didn’t need a caretaker and could leave on her own the next day if she wasn’t in pain, so she wasn’t assigned a room with a caretaker bed.
“I’m familiar with Jingtown, I’ll be fine.”
“Even so, during the day you are my boss, and I must listen to you, but after hours, I am a man, and how can I just leave a lady unattended?”
His tone carried a strong sense of righteousness, and Rosalind laughed.
This feeling of being protected was something she hadn’t experienced often as a child, but as an adult, many people said such things to her.
“Well, then, thank you.”
Natalie slept deeply on the bed, her medicine containing a sedative component.
Rosalind and Brandon, sitting together with nothing else to do, began to chat to pass the time. When the conversation turned to family, Brandon was surprised, “You’re married? I couldn’t tell.”
“I’ve been married for a long time.”
This time, Rosalind didn’t mention her children.
Primarily, she didn’t want more people to know about her children just now.
“Then your husband must really love you,” Brandon said, his tone tinged with a hint of loss.
Being a man, he hadn’t inquired much about Rosalind’s personal life, so he didn’t know she was married.
“Yes, he loves me very much.”
Just as Rosalind finished speaking, her phone rang.
She thought it was Lion, but when she checked, it was from a driver in Wayer City.
At this hour… What could he want?
Wayer City Driver: Sorry to disturb your rest! I just arrived in Jingtown and got lost, could you tell me the way?
Startled, Rosalind quickly made a voice call back and then got up to walk outside the ward.
Outside, the hospital corridor seemed endless.
Deep into the night, it was eerily quiet, filled with the scent of disinfectant.
