“…”
No one would believe him.
“Don’t always be on guard against me. I’m not some venomous creature. How could I possibly harm you?” Rosalind’s tone hurt him deeply.
He had pursued a girl with such sincerity for once.
“You can’t harm me.”
But you make things difficult for me.
“Didn’t we agree? I pursue you, and all you need to do is give me a chance. I should at least be able to show what I’m capable of!” Lion felt frustrated with her attitude.
Even if he wasn’t much, he didn’t deserve to be scorned by a girl to this extent!
“I don’t want to hold you back.”
“Don’t worry, you won’t.”
Lion hung up quickly, fearing she might say something else infuriating.
Rosalind stared at her phone screen and sighed.
In the evening, Rosalind’s two assistants arrived in Jingtown.
After all, she was the boss, so she didn’t start with work discussions. Instead, she took them to a local restaurant.
“This is delicious! I’ve been to Jingtown before but never realized they had such good food here,” Assistant Natalie said after tasting the food, praising it repeatedly.
“Eat more if you like it,” Rosalind said with a smile, pushing the dish closer to her.
The other assistant, Brandon, appeared much more restrained, being the only male at the table and new to Rosalind, unsure of her personality and management style, he was hesitant to speak or act too freely.
“Miss Ruell, I’ve organized the documents you sent me, shall we review them later?”
“Let’s eat first. We can talk after we return to the hotel. Traveling for business is exhausting; we need to fill our stomachs first,” Rosalind reassured Brandon with a smile, a gesture of goodwill.
Brandon nodded and began to eat.
Rosalind’s assistants were highly educated but fresh out of university, reminding her of her own early days at Prosperity Holdings.
“Miss Ruell, are you from Jingtown?”
“Yes, I grew up here,” Rosalind admitted openly, now fully reconciled with her hometown.
“Then why did you join Eastsun Corporation? People here usually move to Northville City. Didn’t you consider applying to W Group?” Natalie, naive and thoughtless, didn’t realize her mention of W Group made Rosalind pause.
“No opportunity there.”
“With your capabilities, not joining W Group is their loss! You don’t know, but while you were away on business in Wayer City, several headhunters were asking for your contact details. They even called me!”
Rosalind chuckled, “That’s just headhunters doing their job, not because I’m exceptional.”
“If you weren’t exceptional, why would they headhunt you? They don’t headhunt me!” Natalie blurted out, causing Brandon to discreetly tug at her clothes.
Rosalind noticed their little interaction and waved it off, “It’s okay, don’t be nervous, Brandon. It’s your first business trip with me; it’s normal to feel unaccustomed. You’ll get used to it.”
“Exactly! Miss Ruell is the best boss in the world,” Natalie said, giving a thumbs up as she ate.
“Let’s eat. We’ll talk business later when we get back. The boss has spoken; we shouldn’t shortchange ourselves on this trip. The company will cover everything.”
