Lion, having cooked breakfast for himself, surprised Rosalind.
However, she was not moved.
“You don’t need to compare yourself to Ulric.”
No one could match Ulric.
“I naturally can’t compare to him. In terms of family background and social status, I am far behind, but the one thing that sets me apart is that my parents won’t stop me from marrying anyone,” Lion said with a shrug, looking at her, “In their eyes, as long as I bring someone home to be their daughter-in-law, that’s enough, even a man would do.”
Rosalind didn’t believe this.
Their wealthy families were very exclusive.
Cinderella stories only happened in fairy tales. In reality, who wouldn’t want their children to marry someone of equal social standing!
“Lion, I’m definitely not the best choice for you, really, stop wasting your time on me.”
Suddenly, Lion’s demeanor hardened, his gaze fixed on the breakfast in her hand.
“Whether it’s a waste of time, I know best! I understand your situation, you just need to see what I can do for you.”
“…”
“Be careful on your business trip, and call me if anyone bullies you, no matter who it is, I won’t let them off,” Lion said with a smile, then turned and got into his car and drove away.
Rosalind stood there stunned for a while, then looked at the still steaming breakfast in her hand and sighed softly.
Lion had no chance against Ulric.
But the issue wasn’t about comparing him to Ulric; she just didn’t want to accept anyone.
…
After ten, Rosalind packed up her things and drove to the airport.
She had slept well last night, so she felt mentally alert today and planned to read some materials on the plane.
At the airport, Rosalind went to exchange her boarding pass and discovered, to her surprise, that she was in first class.
Glancing at her phone, a message from Lion popped up: “Don’t overwork yourself, first class is reimbursed by the company!” followed by a smiley face.
Rosalind felt helpless.
She thought, if she were a naive young girl just starting out in society, she might have fallen deeply for Lion’s enthusiastic pursuit by now.
After all, he was indeed wealthy, handsome, considerate, and impeccable in status and appearance.
Though compared to Ulric, he fell short.
Rosalind chuckled and replied, “Okay, thanks for the company’s consideration.”
“You should be thanking me!” Lion sent a pouting emoji, “Was the breakfast tasty? It was my first time cooking in my life. I tasted it before giving it to you, it’s edible and not poisoned.”
“Tasty, but don’t cook again,” Rosalind thought it was a kind gesture from Lion, and it would have been wrong to discard it, so she really did eat it.
The taste, however, was far from what Ulric could make.
“You’re clearly telling me it wasn’t good! Don’t worry, I’ll work on my cooking skills while you’re away on your trip, I’ll definitely impress you.”
Rosalind felt helpless but somewhat amused.
Lion, as a businessman, must be complex in his thinking, otherwise how could he manage and sustain such a large company? But his schemes never made her uncomfortable.
If it were about friendship, he was truly excellent, and from him, Rosalind had learned many life lessons. However, if it were to progress further, she really had no such intentions.
It wasn’t that Lion was not good enough; she just didn’t dare.
