Chapter 470: Youthful Dreams

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-11-18

An employee recognized Isaac. “That’s the only son of the Ellison family, Miss Marsh. Do you know him?”
“Is he handsome?” Callie asked, avoiding the question.
“He’s not just handsome, but also wealthy. Unfortunately, he’s married.”
“Marrying someone like him would be a misery.” Callie was irritated.
Later, it really started raining in Ylosea, with a torrential downpour over the dark sea.
News came from Isaac’s side that a helicopter had been dispatched to search.
Nelson had been very busy these past few days, practically living at Oconnor Group, holding meetings through the night while employees worked on plans. Callie didn’t know what he was up to but had a vague sense that Oconnor Group was planning something big.
When she called, Anthony was handing the final confirmation list to Nelson for review.
Nelson glanced at it quickly while answering his private phone.
Seeing the caller ID, he instinctively smiled and slightly raised his eyes, but his voice remained cold. “What is it?”
“… The weather has changed,” came the hesitant reply.
Nelson frowned and looked out the window at the pouring rain.
In the constant temperature of the office, he hadn’t noticed any change. He replied, “Yes, remember to dress warmly.”
There was no response for a long time, clearly dissatisfied with his answer.
Wanting to say something but unable to, Callie finally got straight to the point. “Regan is at North Mountain and can’t be found. Isaac is sending people to search. Did you know?”
“I didn’t.”
Indeed, he didn’t know. This kind of news wouldn’t reach Nelson.
So he guessed that after their argument, Callie wouldn’t call him rashly unless she needed something today.
“North Mountain is very dangerous, especially with the heavy rain. Can you…”
Based on his understanding of her, Nelson could guess what she wanted to say but pretended not to know and patiently indicated for her to continue. “Yes?”
It turned out she mentioned the weather change as a prelude to this request. Nelson’s smile faded.
To Anthony, who was waiting nearby, Nelson seemed slightly aggrieved, which was unusual for him.
Callie couldn’t bring herself to ask for help; it felt too much like begging, which was humiliating.
“Forget it.” Callie finally gave up.
Nelson sighed and put down his pen. “I’ll help you.”
In the last second, the man’s warm voice reached her ear, and Callie paused.
Nelson put down the phone and handed the document to Anthony, instructing him, “Send our people to North Mountain to support Isaac.”
“Yes.”
Shortly after Anthony left, someone from the secretary’s office brought over a file folder. “Mr. Oconnor, everything you asked us to investigate is here.”
Nelson pursed his lips and stared at the brown folder for a long time without moving.
“Who is that guy?”
“His name is Jamir Quinn. He had a brief love relationship with Callie during university. After a year, he went abroad to study and never came back.”
Nelson repeated the name silently, feeling it was familiar but unable to recall why.
He opened the folder, which contained more detailed information than what Jaquan had provided, including where Jamir was currently employed.
A Wall Street elite with a decent position.
“Mr. Oconnor, do you want to take any action against him?”
Nelson put away the information with a cold expression. “Forget it. Everyone has old feelings. No need to press it further.”
“Understood.”
Only a wall lamp was on in the office. Nelson lit a cigarette, his expression unreadable.
