Chapter 36
POV: Tamara Davis
The splashing of waterfalls filled her ears, but the vast cloudy fog made it difficult for her to see her way.
~ Where am I? ~ Tamara thought as her eyes moved around the place. It was so dark, and the thick fog wasn’t helping her at all. It was making her head pound a little bit painful inside.
“Hello?” She loudly called, but her sweet voice just echoed throughout the whole place.
Her heart was beating so loudly inside her chest like it was all suffocating her entire system.
“Is anybody here? Hello?!” She called once again but like the first time, it just echoed like she was in the middle of nowhere.
Chill started to run to her veins that made her feel the goosebumps in her skin. Her eyes moistened as if she’d been attacked by pure panic and nervousness. Her legs started to wobble, and she let out a breathy sigh to stop herself from shaking.
What if someone attacks her here again?
What if she had been captured by someone?
Bullets of sweat were visible now into her forehead. She was nervous as hell as she fidgeted her fingers.
Then, a loud giggle filled the place.
Tamara instantly looked around to find out where it was coming from. A shiver crept into her spine as she tried to determine who it was.
“Tamara!” A loud voice echoed and the cold wind whoosh making the trees around her swayed smoothly.
A loud giggle once again resonated in her ears. Her mouth went slightly agape as a lone tear suddenly escaped from her eyes. She didn’t know why her heart contracted painfully all of a sudden.
“Aren’t we still there yet?” A soft girly voice asked someone.
Tamara held her head, which throbbed so hard unexpectedly.
“Shhhh… The omegas might hear us.” Another girly voice shushed the other.
Her face was too blurry for her to see but she knew she was smiling at her from ear to ear. But she couldn’t recognize who it was.
Tamara held her aching temple.
~ What the heck was happening to me? ~ She wanted to shout, but nothing came out of her mouth. No voice came out from her, and she felt fear engulfed her entirely.
The splashing water was becoming more vivid in her ears. It echoed into her ears, and her head pounded horribly inside her. She groaned in too much pain and frustration and closed her eyes firmly to try to ease the anguish.
“There they are!” The girly sweet voice excitedly yelped.
“But it was my first time seeing them. Will they like me?” The soft voice hesitatingly inquired.
Her heart suddenly clenched by her tone of voice. It was like she felt the same way as hers. It was like she could feel the same pain hidden in her voice.
~ What the hell was that? Why would she feel that? ~ Tamara even in pain tried to open her eyes.
“Of course! In fact, they are dying to see you.” The other girl assuredly replied making her tremble in both nervousness and excitement.
“Mom and Dad would get mad. It was my first time going out of the tower. They always say that it isn’t the time to go out yet.” Her soothing voice anxiously stated.
Tamara could hear the other girl scoffed. They were still blurry in her vision, and she closed her eyes again.
“Why not? We are the Sacred Emissaries. We are just going to meet the reason why we are here.” She obstinately said and sighed.
“But-”
She held her throbbing head as the pulsating pain intensified.
Tamara didn’t know what the hell was happening to her, but she felt like she was being transported back to another scene again.
She sat on the ground ignoring the mud and dirt.
“Hey! You’re already here? Where is your brother?” The stubborn girl asked someone.
“Stop chasing him. He won’t like you.” A cold menacing voice resonated in the place.
She was dumbfounded as her heart was beating crazily inside her.
Her eyes instantly snapped wide open as she held her breath. Her eyes suddenly moistened with tears which she didn’t know the reason why.
She suddenly felt like everything was so familiar to her.
And it was frustrating her more.
She firmly closed her eyes as she tried to calm her raging nerves. But she held her mouth shut to prevent a loud gasp escape from her lips the moment she saw those soulful cold pitch-black eyes.
Tamara wasn’t sure, but she was looking at those particular eyes of a young boy… which was so familiar to her.
Could it be?
She ignored the intensifying pain inside her head. It was like her eyes had been glued to that particular young boy who was coldly looking at that kid.
Her vision suddenly turned vivid, and she blinked the tears away from her eyes.
“Nonsense! We are the ones who are destined for each other! He shouldn’t do this to me…” The hardheaded little girl with wavy auburn hair.
She couldn’t see her face because she was facing her back.
“So, you brought her here…” The young boy suddenly said while his eyes were directly looking at her.
Tamara swallowed hard at the intensity of his gaze.
He’s…
She held her ajar mouth as confusion built inside her head.
Those eyes…
Tamara trembled in mixed emotions she couldn’t comprehend.
“You shouldn’t do this. It isn’t the time yet. You must go!” His voice was deep and intense making the hair at the back of her head stand out.
“Oh, right. Tamara!” The young girl with auburn hair called her, and she smilingly turned.
Her eyes widened as she saw who she looked like.
“S-Shahara…”
Her voice came out low and her world trembled in shock as she saw the kid walking slowly towards her.
But before she could even raise her hand to her, a loud scream suddenly shook the entire place making all the resting birds flew away from their nests.
She was held captive, and fear filled her entire being.
An ear-piercing growl made her mind go blank.
“F*ck!” She faintly heard the young boy curse and everything just turned blurry for her.
Her head was spinning, and her vision turned pitch black.
“Tamara… Hey… Wake up. Hey!”
A soft worried voice had woken her up.
She gasped for air as she stared at the same almond-shaped eyes and got up to look around she was in her room. Her vision suddenly spun, and she held her aching temple.
“Hey, are you okay?” Shahara worriedly inquired as she sat on the edge of her bed.
Tamara was still in the middle of her bewilderment.
She didn’t know what the heck that dream was all about. She was still confused as to whether it really happened or not although she had a hunch that it might be true.
No.
It was like it happened to her.
She held her heart, which was still beating wildly inside her chest.
Tamara intently stared at Shahara, who was watching her with her worried face.
“Care to tell me what is happening to you? You seemed like you’re having a dream. I am trying to wake you up for about ten minutes now.” Shahara suddenly inquired when she couldn’t take it anymore.
She let out a deep sigh as she ran her fingers across her wavy burgundy hair and bit her lower lip. She didn’t know whether she needed to voice out her dream given that she saw Shahara on it and all.
Or was it?
What if she wasn’t?
But it was impossible, she saw Shahara, and she was positive that it was her.
Tamara pursed her lips together and stared at Shahara, who was waiting for her to spill the beans.
She harshly bit her lower lip as she tried to calm her speedy heartbeat. She didn’t know how to tell her. She was hesitant whether she wanted to know or not.
But the conviction inside her to know the truth was to the moon. Her insides suddenly shook in doubt and fear.
Was she ready to know?
“So?” Shahara curiously inquired as she stared at her.
Tamara clenched her both fists as well as tightened her jaw to stop herself from shaking in fear.
She let out a breathy sigh before staring eye to eye with Shahara who had this confused look on her face.
“I have questions to ask…” Her voice was strained and gruff.
Shahara’s forehead creased urging her to continue her words.
“Did we already meet when we were kids?” She curiously asked making Shahara’s eyes widened in shock.
“If yes, why didn’t you tell me? Why can’t I recall it? Or… rather, why am I dreaming about it now?” Tamara frustratedly told her.
Shahara looked away, as if trying to dodge her questions, but she didn’t know how.
“And… what exactly is a Sacred Emissary?”
With that, Shahara gaped at her like it was the most ominous thing she had ever said to her.
Her heart was beating so loudly at the mere sight of her reaction. But the eagerness inside her to know the truth about herself was to the moon.
Although she knew that she was still searching for the courage to face whatever reality she might be discovering now.
She just wanted to find out.
No.
Something inside her was urging her to dig deeper into her own identity.
She must find out.
Who was she?

POV: Shahara Vikesh
Her heart was beating crazily all of the sudden the moment she heard Tamara’s questions towards her most especially the latter one.
“Uh… W-Where did you get those things? In your dreams?” She tried to act cool although she was failing miserably.
She knew this moment would come, but she didn’t know how to address it or rather, she didn’t know how to explain it to her.
Tamara unconsciously raised her brow.
She was at it again.
Her expression when she was up to something, and the tension was killing her.
Shahara let out a deep sigh, for she knew there was no way she could let this one go anymore. She could see Tamara’s pure resolve to find the answer to her questions.
And she knew that if she wouldn’t answer her questions, she’d find it in any means she could. IF she found out the truth from other people it would be more dangerous for everyone, especially to their pack.
“I didn’t want you to know at this time, Tamara. This information is too dangerous.” She worriedly said and looked away.
No one ever speak of the Sacred Emissary.
Especially since…
She mentally shook her head as the immense angst suddenly engulfed her entire system.
It’s been years since she last felt this kind of fear. And she knew sooner or later, she would still have this fear especially that the pack had Tamara now.
But no matter what it was she needed to find her courage to spill out the truth.
She deserved to know the truth.
Tamara gently held her hands and her gaze laid on her.
“I wanna know, Shahara. Please don’t leave me in the dark. My parents are gone now, and this dream suddenly came to me… I am terribly confused. Are the things they talk about me… all fake? Who am I, really? I wanna know, and you’re the one I trust the most. Please…” She weakly begged.
Surely, that dream she experienced had all shaken her up to get up to this point of interrogating her. She wasn’t surprised, though.
Having that particular glimpse into the past was certainly a huge leap of uncertainty.
Shahara bit her lower lip thinking of how to deal with this.
“What was your dream all about? And how do you know about the Sacred Emissary?” She agitatedly asked.
Tamara started to tell her about her dream, and she didn’t even notice that she was already holding her breath as she spoke of it.
Shahara, on the other hand, gasped in shock as she felt a shiver down her spine.
She didn’t know that it was the memory she had ever feared.
A memory she’d rather forget.
A memory that ruined their family.
The very reason why she didn’t grow up with Tamara.
“What do you think, it is, Shahara? Is it true? Does it really happen before?” Eagerness and curiosity were visibly heard in Tamara’s voice as she asked her that question.
Shahara nodded her head as she firmly closed her eyes.
And when she opened it again it turned into a deep darker shade of crimson red.
For a moment Tamara felt that she needed to brace herself. For what she was about to know was far more worst than she could imagine.
