Chapter 37
POV: Tamara Davis
She was waiting for Shahara to speak the words that might hunt her forever. She was hopeful that all of this wasn’t true, yet devastated at the same time, for she knew that it was the reality which she needed to face.
Shahara swallowed hard as she let out a defeated sigh. She knew that no matter how she evaded this thing from happening, but she also knew that it would eventually come out. And it would have been for the better if it came from her instead.
“I really didn’t know what to say or how to explain it. This thing that you need to know can really make you whole or break you mercilessly into pieces, Tamara.” She softly spoke.
There’re more to her voice that she didn’t know how to address, but she just knew one thing and that was to know the truth, regardless of how painful it was.
All that she could think of right now was to know the truth about her. Maybe, crossing the bridge when she got there was what she’d been thinking of. Whatever truth was behind her identity, she must know.
“Sacred Emissary is a lost word in the history of all wolves, Tamara. It is never spoken, especially after what happened ten years ago. Right, after you are lost.” Shahara carefully explained causing her brows to furrow.
“Lost? What do you mean?” Tamara perplexedly inquired.
Shahara firmly closed her eyes and let out a breathy sigh before staring softly into her dark brown almond-shaped eyes.
“Sacred Emissaries are believingly the ones called by the Moon Goddess to fulfill some special missions. They could be a destined warrior, a sacrificial lamb… or a Royal Bloods’ mate.” Shahara seriously replied making her eyes bulged in shock.
Her heart began to beat erratically again so as her inner wolf.
“R-Royal Bloods’ Mate?” She stammered as she repeated the words.
Shahara nodded her head.
“Queen Hadia, King Hades and Prince Raven’s mother, is part of an Elite Pack called The Moonstone Pack. She had a mark of the Moon Goddess, and that’s why she was destined to marry King Reeve. She is a Sacred Emissary that is destined to be the Royal Blood’s mate… the king’s mate, to be exact.” Shahara looked away as she said those words.
“She has a crescent moonlike shaped mark on her left shoulder. It is believingly the mark of the Moon Goddess.” Shahara carefully added making her bit her lower lip to prevent herself from gaping at her words.
Then, she remembered the small mark on her left shoulder. It was a crescent moonlike shaped.
She always thought that it was just a birthmark and that it was her lucky charm. Well, that was what her parents had told her, too.
Could it possibly be?
Her head started to throb once again. This entire thing of knowing her secret was certainly wearing her out.
“She is lucky that the king fell in love with her. Because if not, she will forever be alone because of a Sacred Emissary that is fated to marry a Royal Blood, and if it isn’t fulfilled, she’ll die.” Shahara bit her lower lip as she stated those words.
Tamara gasped as she unbelievingly stared at her.
Her mind was filled with too many questions that were running into it, and she had chosen to ask the most crucial thing that she had in her mind right now.
“Am I a Sacred Emissary, Shahara? Are we?” She hesitantly inquired.
Shahara’s moistened eyes moved into where she was. It reflected the pain that she’d been feeling at that moment, and it was making her heart clenched in pain, too.
Something about the truth had triggered something in Shahara, but she couldn’t find it in herself to stop.
No.
Not now.
Not now that she was so close to discovering her real identity.
Shahara nodded her head and held her both hands firmly.
“Yes. We are both Sacred Emissaries destined to marry a Royal Blood, Tamara.” She wearily confirmed and pulled her off-shoulder dress a little bit down on her right side.
“But I am not destined to be the King’s mate, but only to Royal Blood. Because my mark is on my right shoulder.” She explicitly explained.
“And you, on the other hand, had it on your left, right?” She prudently stated making her feel a little bit uneasy.
Tamara’s eyes turned a little bit darker as she stared at Shahara.
“You are destined to be the King’s mate, Tamara. It is written in the prophesy. The very reason why a lot of wolves’ packs are after you. The very reason why you didn’t grow up here and that you were sent away because your life had been at stake ten years ago.” Shahara weakly smiled at her.
“So, this is the reason why they are after me? And that my parents were killed? Why now? Why are they not killing me now? My identity is revealed. So, why?” She frustratedly asked.
Shahara slightly shook her head.
“It’s because of the competition, Tamara.” Shahara automatically replied making her brows furrowed.
“Because of the competition, all the packs believed that the King had already forgotten about the Sacred Emissary. And that it can build a fair and just Luna Queen. However, the other packs are always trying to play tricks, especially on you who seemed to still be a threat to them. They just need to stay low in harming you.” She continued with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
“W-What should I do now?” Tamara faintly whispered, but Shahara heard her and stared at her with those soulful tweaked wood-colored eyes.
“You should be careful not to confirm that you are a Sacred Emissary, Tamara. Not for now. Not until the competition ended. Well, that is the last resort that you can use for the competition. I am hoping that you’ll gonna make it until, then. Because the moment that you stepped in into this place, your life is already at stake. It is just a good thing that not everyone has recognized who you really are. So, you need to be strong. You must do your very best to win, Tamara. This is your destiny. You are fated to be the king’s mate.” She gently told her.
She already had that tiny clue of who she was but hearing it from Shahara’s mouth it was a confirmation that she was trying to uncover.
And the emotions lingering inside her were so intense that her eyes moistened because of mixed emotions.
She truly belonged here. Her dark brown eyes slowly turned into a lighter shade, then a darker one and it continued to shift from those colors for that couple of times.
Her feelings for the king might be reciprocated now. Her heart was like a fluttering in the air.
Then, the happiness she felt after knowing that she was a sacred emissary was short-lived for there was still a pint of doubt inside her head.
What if the king wouldn’t choose her?
If that happened, she’ll lived in misery and in pain or worst, she’d eventually die.
The thought of it sent a shiver down her spine.
Then, she suddenly thought about her parents’ deaths, she mentally shook her head. She still needed to fulfill her promise to avenge their deaths.
And her mind wandered to the king…
Did he know that she was the sacred emissary?
Did he?
And if he did then, would it just be the reason why he was into her?
Her heart suddenly sank at that thought.
Tamara bit her lower lip and mentally shook her head to stop herself from thinking so negatively.
Whatever it was Shahara was right, she needed to stay strong.
For herself.
For her parents.
For the King.
She must be suited to him to be his queen… to be the Luna Queen.
“But there’s more about you that you still need to know, Tamara. And I am truly hoping that you can accept this secret and find it in your heart to forgive.” Shahara lowly said.
The anxiety and agony mirrored in her eyes making her brows move closer towards each other.
Her heart started to beat crazily again.
There’s more?
“It’s about your real identity…” Shahara cautiously stated, then caressed the back of her hand using her thumb.
She could feel her slightly tremble, but surely it was also reflecting her fears. Her eyes were like talking to her, but she couldn’t grasp what it was. Her heart began to beat a little bit faster than usual.
“You-”
Then, her door suddenly banged wide open causing both of them to flinch in shock. Then, her mouth went slightly agape to Beta Benson, who was leaning against the door frame.
He was panting so hard, and his face was flustered. There was a huge bleeding wound on his arms and his pants were ripped she knew that he was now covered with bruises. His left eye was turning purple as well as his cheek and jaw.
“What happened to you?!” Shahara shockingly stated as she went towards the injured beta.
Her heart suddenly attacked with fear, and something had clench it painfully.
Beta Benson coughed with blood, and she immediately went near them, even though her legs were trembling with nervousness and anxiety.
“A-Alpha and L-Luna…” Beta Benson lowly whispered, and blood instantly came out of his mouth.
She could feel Shahara’s wolf at bay.
“What happened? My parents?!” Shahara angrily spat.
Her canines immediately bared.
“I-Infirmary…” Beta Benson weakly whispered, and he was left unconscious on the floor.
Shahara instantly ran out of her room while Tamara was so shocked, but she needed to snap herself out of her wits. She checked the beta’s pulse and his breathing. He might have been too exhausted that he passed out.
Without any second thoughts, she swiftly followed Shahara. She stopped for a moment to order the guards to bring Beta Benson into the infirmary, too.
Her heart was pounding so hard inside her chest.
What the heck happened to Uncle Lorenzo and Aunt Rania?

POV: King Hades Pierce
“M-My K-King…” Arlan’s trembling voice broke the silence in the throne room as he walked to where he was and bowed his head while panting hard.
As usual, that was his favorite spot. The throne room where he could see the enormous lofty trees outside the castle through the huge glass window. The solemn view was totally making his nerves calm.
His brows furrowed by Arlan’s tone and that his eyes went to where he was standing.
“An ominous incident happened.” He tried to get himself together as he stared at him.
“What is it?” His voice thundered in every corner of the room although it was just too low.
“The Alpha and Luna of the Lunar Pack… They’ve been a-attacked.” His voice shook in shock, but the king’s face didn’t show any tinge of emotion on his face.
King Hades was just waiting for the additional information that he was looking for.
“They are in critical condition now.” He finally said, and he clenched his hands while holding the armrest of his golden throne.
“Does Raven know about this?” His deep voice slightly rose making Arlan flinched a bit, for he was already sensing his arising anger.
His aura darkened and intensified that Arlan bowed down a little bit more and couldn’t even look at him anymore.
“Uh, P-Prince R-Raven already go t-there, My K-King.” Arlan nervously stuttered.
“And who the heck did this?” His voice was deep, yet it was threatening.
“Dillion and Shimuel are already investigating what happened, Your M-Majesty.” His voice slightly broke.
King Hades with his darkened aura walked towards the door.
So, their enemies had been steeping into his line now, huh?
He clenched his jaw and let out a perilous smirk.
Maybe, they also needed to take a huge step if the enemies were this aggressive.
He didn’t wait for Arlan anymore and he rapidly ran towards the woods heading to the Lunar Pack infirmary.
Well, he still needed to talk to Raven.
And he also should pay a visit to that little stubborn red head.
