Chapter 29
POV: Kage Esmeray
Tamara went uncontrollably chilling and trembling that they needed to tie her up in her bed. She gritted her teeth and hunched her back, then forth while lying in her bed.
After a few moments, she was burning with fever that her eyes went to the back of her head. Her canines bared and she growled in both frustration and pain making Kage and Dreyson more nervous and scared of what was happening to her.
The good thing was it only lasted for about fifteen minutes, and she was now peacefully sleeping. But the chaotic feeling Tamara arose a while ago inside their mind and the raucous emotions they felt was to the moon.
Kage harshly combed his hair with his hands while his other hand rested on his waist. He was walking back and forth in front of her bed waiting for Dreyson, who went to Shahara’s room, just beside Tamara’s to check on her, too.
His head shot back at the door when he heard it open. Dreyson, with his forehead creased, entered the room, and he immediately went near him to inquire.
“So, how was she?” Kage’s voice was laced with concern and desperation.
Dreyson pursed his lips together.
“Something was also injected into her. She was also having the same condition now. But I didn’t know whether this was a good thing for either of them or not. The tranquil condition they were in now may have worsened and could lead to something critical.” Dreyson’s voice was filled with exasperation and worry as he gently massaged his temple with his left hand.
They both knew that this was something that was getting out of control. But they were also in despair for not knowing how to deal with it. These two women were undeniably close to them, and they were extremely anxious about them.
Luna Rania also lost consciousness the moment she heard the news about what happened to Shahara and Tamara, that Alpha Lorenzo had given them the responsibility to look after them and hopefully cure them.
Additionally, he had also a tiny hint of how important they were to the Pierce Clan a huge obligation if he may add. Kage harshly combed his hair for the nth time. Their luck was out of their hands at this moment and time wasn’t on their side either.
“Don’t you really recognize who’s the one who injected something into them?” Dreyson suddenly asked.
He desperately shook his head frustrations still visible on his face.
“He was wearing a huge black hood. And I couldn’t see his face either. And the odd thing was when I was about to move towards him, I…” He stopped and licked his lips, then bit his lower lip harshly.
“Then what?” Dreyson encouragingly asked him, but his curiosity was also visible in his voice.
Kage shook his head.
“Then, I couldn’t move. I don’t know what happened to me. I was as if stuck to where I was standing.” He couldn’t hide the
bewilderment in his voice.
Until now, he was still shocked about what had happened to him. It was his first time experiencing it and it was creating a deeper frustration inside him. He was just mentally shaken up that he couldn’t comprehend what had just really happened.
Imagine, what the hell would have made him stopped his tracks?!
Dreyson’s forehead creased while staring at him like he was the weirdest thing he had ever met. Kage scoffed and then let out a frustrated sigh.
“Believe it or not, but I wouldn’t say it twice. Even I couldn’t believe it, but it’s true.” He was starting to get annoyed.
Dreyson heaved a deep sigh and slightly shook his head.
“This was all getting on my nerves now.” He said with pure desperation in his voice, as the good doctor harshly brushed his neatly comb hair with his hands.
This was the first time I’ve seen him like this. Well, he couldn’t blame him, though. He couldn’t even find the right words to describe this situation that they had now. He couldn’t apply the things that he had learned being one of the well-known and brilliant salutary wolves.
“How about Elder Zeparu?” His desperately asked after a few moments of silence.
He was currently thinking about whether the elder of their pack had a plan or solution to this. He was their teacher in medicine, and he was quietly hoping that he could help them deal with this.
But his hopes slightly crashed when he saw Dreyson slightly shook his head.
“He already knew about the situation. Unfortunately, he couldn’t check them right now because he needs to attend the meeting. The other members of the Were Elders’ Council were planning something. And I bet it has something to do with the competition. They were abruptly taking their steps, faster and more dangerous than we thought.” Dreyson answered while gritting his teeth.
His jaw clenched. No one could ever do this to the Vikesh and to Tamara, but the Darkwood Clan only. No one could ever dare but them.
But what was mere suspicion and hearsay without proof?
The enemy was now on the move more swiftly, and they were crossing the line when they had the chance. And he was so devastated knowing that he couldn’t do anything to protect those who were dear to him.
He clenched his both hands for the deep frustration he felt.

POV: King Hades Pierce
“It wasn’t fair to wait for the other candidate to wake up. I believe that it is what you have been saying all this time, the moment we start the competition. So, we were asking now that we needed to move on with the next round of the competition.” Elder Mondar from the Night Walker Pack seriously uttered as he crossed his legs and intertwined his fingers, then placed it on top of his knee.
He wasn’t smiling, but the smug look on his face was saying all his words had something behind it.
King Hades clenched his both fists as it was holding the armrest of his golden throne. He was trying to get a grip of himself because of the situation the Were Elders’ Council was proposing right now.
His jaw moved in deep annoyance, but his face remained plain and stoic. He wouldn’t give a damn about these bunch of idiotic greedy old wolves.
“Why are you so agitated in continuing the next round now, Elder Mondar?” Arlan asked with his lips curled up but he could smell the intensifying anger inside him.
It was hard to control their raging bulls right now because of what happened to the heiress of the Vikesh Clan, and to Tamara. And these sick greedy old men were pushing him to his limits.
They were now using the current situation to get the upper hand. He clenched his jaw, and he was thinking of any way out of this suffocating conversation, but his mind was clouded with the innocent face of the crimson red-haired woman.
“Because I heard that she was in critical condition now. I believe it would be a futile to wait for someone who could have been on the verge of fighting death.” Elder Mondar mockingly stated.
King Hades scoffed in annoyance just by hearing those words making everyone in the room filled with undeniable fear and silence.
“How would you know? Only the Vikesh Clan and we knew that information. Aside from that, not everyone in their pack knew the current situation. So, how come that someone outside their pack, like you, Elder Mondar, knew that sensitive and confidential information?” King Hades couldn’t hide the intimidating and perilous tone that he had in his voice.
A deafening silence embraced the entire room. No one dared to speak, and everyone stilled their breaths.
Elder Courdamus cleared his throat.
“W-Well, maybe not everyone who was near to them was loyal enough, huh?” He tried to reason it out and dipped his cigarette stick into the ash tray placed on the table just in front of him.
King Hades let out a sarcastic laugh making the were elders and even Arlan chill down their spine. His eyes laced with ferocity while his lips still curled up with unhumorous cockiness and pure menace.
“So, are you saying that someone had sabotage the representative of the Lunar Pack? What a great enlightenment. Tsk! Tsk! Very well, then.” His voice turned into something more ominous.
The other members of the Were Elders’ Council went into shock while looking at him.
“Arlan,” King Hades called his second in command, and he ruthlessly stared at him, who swallowed so hard because of the intimidation and fear intensifying inside him.
“I wanted you to investigate deeper into what happened to the Lunar Pack representative. Maybe, Elder Courdamus here had a point.” He smugly said, and mockingly looked at the Were Elder of the Dark Wood Pack who was now clenching his jaw in annoyance because the tables were now turned briefly in just a matter of seconds.
“Maybe, someone had sabotaged her, right? And the competition wouldn’t resume if this case isn’t solved yet. I don’t want to be addressed like an incompetent king. This is an order. So, whoever denies this, you make sure to end their life.” King Hades with his most ruthless and merciless stoic voice stated.
With that, no one dared to say a single word.
Everyone in the room kept their thoughts. No one ever tried to reason it out for they knew how serious he was now.
“Do you understand, Arlan?” He uttered those words with visible fury and cruelty.
“Y-yes, your Majesty.” Arlan stammered and nodded his head.
King Hades stood up.
“Meeting adjourned.” He seriously said and turned around to walk out of the room.
And a mischievous smile escaped from his lips.

POV: Tamara Davis
She was probably walking in the dark tunnel for hours now. She was so tired and all she wanted was to sit down and rest. But her entire body was still walking and walking and walking and she couldn’t stop it by herself.
Tamara was yelling at herself to stop because of too much exhaustion, but her mouth wouldn’t utter a single word. Her words remained inside her head.
Her breathing was unusually slow by the moment passed, and her vision was now blurry. Her head started to throb hardly that it was making her dizzy by every step she took.
Until she saw the blinding light in front of her.
It was so bright that she needed to raise her hand to cover her eyes.
Then, her body started to tremble uncontrollably… and she felt the burning sensation inside her. It was so hot, and then it became cold, that she shouted hoarsely.
The coldness that enveloped her once again turned into something that was scorching, and it crept into her entire body like she was being burned alive.
Tamara bit her lower lip as she moved a step towards the end of the tunnel. She slowly opened her eyes and the magnificent night sky welcomed her.
The full moon was soothing to her. It calmed her nerves and she growled so loudly breaking the deafening silence.
Her raging and eerie growl echoed in the middle of nowhere and everything went black.
