His tone, his manner of speaking.
It was exactly like he was cautioning a girlfriend.
Rosalind’s mouth twitched slightly, and she laughed dryly, “Thanks for the concern, boss.”
“…”
He could blur the lines between personal and professional, so she could always remind him of their actual relationship.

As night fell, Rosalind returned to her hotel to take a bath. After a video call with her daughter, she opened her laptop to begin working.
Lion had sent over the documents for the new project. She glanced over them briefly. The due diligence shouldn’t be too difficult, mainly focusing on the qualifications of the partnering company.
Typically, with secondary processing industries like this in agriculture, there would be some tricks with the product certifications and the business bureau, but as long as nothing was too outrageous, there wouldn’t be major issues. She had to ensure her team conducted thorough due diligence to uncover any hidden risks, to avoid tears when it was time to sign the contract.
Before diving into the details, she took out her phone to order a coffee delivery.
Suddenly remembering something, she quickly opened Whatsapp and found a chat.
Rosalind: “Hello, I will also be leaving Wayer City next week. Do you have time to pick up the original invoices before then? Or I can leave them for you to collect.”
She already felt quite embarrassed for having deleted him before, so she had to accommodate his need for the original invoices for reimbursement or whatever else. It was her duty.
After placing her coffee order, the reply came.
“Where are you going.”
“…” Rosalind paused, her fingers hesitating on the screen before typing.
Rosalind: “I’m heading to Jingtown, not sure when I’ll be back.”
“So, you will return to Wayer City.”
Rosalind: “Yes, my work here isn’t finished, but it might take a long time. Are you in a hurry for the invoices?”
“Not urgent, I’ll wait for you.”
Reading the text on the screen and sensing the tone of his words, Rosalind truly couldn’t connect this conversation with the driver who had bumped into her!
He seemed like a reserved person, sparing with words, yet not cold, since he replied promptly.
If she didn’t know he was a middle-aged driver, she might have thought he was similar to someone else.
His replies always ended with a period, as if commanding that the matter was settled.
And as if an extra word would kill him.
Rosalind tugged at her lips, patting her forehead.
Why did sending a Whatsapp to the driver make her think of that person? She must be losing her mind lately.
She had no idea if Johnny had spoken out of turn to Ulric, nor what Ulric’s expression might be after hearing it.
A flicker of melancholy crossed Rosalind’s eyes.
But she quickly concealed these emotions! Then, opening the documents, she began to review and note down key points.
She didn’t have time to dwell on these thoughts now! She needed to focus on her work. Everything else had been decided four years ago; there was no need to waste more time on it now.
While reviewing, Rosalind quickly booked her flight to Jingtown and informed her two assistants to meet her directly there, saving them a trip to Wayer City.
