Ulric raised his hand to rub his temples, convincing himself it was just curiosity. Or perhaps, he was simply concerned about her injury, one that occurred during the project, and as the president, it was only right for him to show some concern.
That’s right.
…
Rosalind glanced at her phone to confirm that the other party, the driver, hadn’t messaged her back before she focused on the meeting. She had impulsively deleted his contact, thinking there wouldn’t be any future interactions, especially after leaving Wayer City, making contact even less likely. Yet, he had sent another friend request.
This made Rosalind somewhat embarrassed. It was as if she had been caught doing something wrong. She hadn’t thought much about it; she simply didn’t keep unfamiliar contacts, and she figured the driver wouldn’t have any reason to contact her again.
“Miss Ruell, is there anything else you would like to add?”
Mr. Wong suddenly directed the conversation towards her. Rosalind quickly smiled and then presented the PowerPoint she had prepared overnight. “Currently, our construction site has some safety hazards that need to be emphasized. I’ve already discussed these with the person in charge of the amusement facilities. Next, we need to focus on the main building and strengthen the inspection and rechecking of facilities, ensuring that all workers wear safety helmets.”
“Exactly, you’re absolutely right! When I visited the site yesterday, I saw two individuals without safety helmets. Who would be responsible if an accident occurred? Who would bear the negative impact on the project?” Mr. Wong nodded in agreement. “I meant to mention that too but forgot. Lucky you reminded me, Miss Ruell.”
His words were thick with sycophancy. Who couldn’t hear it? With the project manager speaking like this, the other employees quickly nodded their heads and lavished praise, “Understood! Miss Ruell is also doing this for our benefit. We should be thankful!”
Rosalind frowned slightly, wanting to say something, but then didn’t know how to express it.
After the meeting, she didn’t leave immediately but called Mr. Wong aside, “Mr. Wong, a moment please!”
“What is it? Was there something you didn’t mention just now?”
“No.” Rosalind waited until everyone had left before she spoke, “This project in Wayer City, you are the overall in-charge, and I’m just assisting. I hope you won’t pay too much attention to me in the future, I’m concerned it might lead to misunderstandings.”
Mr. Wong laughed and waved his hand dismissively, “You’re overthinking it! We’re all here to work for the company. Yes, I’m the person in charge, but you were personally recommended by Lion! We’re supposed to help each other, and naturally, I’ll take your suggestions seriously.”
“… That’s not what I meant!”
“I understand! I’ll try to be more mindful in front of others, don’t worry.” Mr. Wong was called away just as he finished speaking.
Rosalind could only rub her temples in frustration as a headache started to form. She knew Mr. Wong wasn’t really respecting her-it was her boss Lion he respected!
Yet, she and Lion were simply not possible…
Rosalind walked back to her temporary office on the construction site in her high heels. The office was crudely set up for handling simple tasks. On normal days, it was fine, but during windy days, the sand and dirt from the site made it impossible to see through the windows, which is why she usually worked from a hotel. She hadn’t been to this office in a while.
