Ulric remembered when Cedric had told him about Tilda having a daughter. This must be that child’s hand.
After all, they were as close as sisters, so it was normal for Rosalind to post pictures of Tilda’s daughter.
Ulric scrolled down obsessively, opening every company picture and post. It was as if by doing so, he could learn more about her life over the past four years.
It was clear that Rosalind’s work kept her busy. She had few posts, and even fewer about herself. He exited the interface and saw that Rosalind had replied to him.
“Rosalind: Okay, I will try my best to cooperate with you.”
Ulric stared at the message for a moment before immediately calling Cedric.
“The driver I used in Wayer City before, can you contact him?”
“I think so. I’ll find his number and get back to you,” Cedric said, not understanding Ulric’s intentions but following orders.
A minute after hanging up, Cedric called back. “Mr. Walters, I’ve contacted the driver, but he’s no longer in Wayer City. He’s out of town now. If you need a driver, I can arrange another one for you.”
Cedric assumed Mr. Walters was planning another trip to Wayer City.
Ulric frowned. “Have him return to Wayer City in three days and stay there.”
“Okay, should I book a flight for you to Wayer City in three days?”
“I’m not going.”
“…”
“Give me the driver’s number; I’ll talk to him myself.”
Cedric was stunned but said, “Alright.”
He couldn’t understand why a driver from Wayer City would be so fortunate to speak directly with Mr. Walters. What could they possibly discuss?
Cedric sent the number, and Ulric dialed it immediately.
The driver answered quickly, “Hello!”
His tone carried a bit of the Wayer City accent.
“This is Ulric.”
The driver paused before responding quickly, “Mr. Walters, I remember! Is something wrong?”
“I’ll have my people contact you shortly to set up a voice modulation system,” Ulric paused. “Five hundred thousand dollars will be transferred to you immediately.”
Five hundred thousand dollars!
That was a sum most people would never see in their lifetime!
The driver was taken aback by such generosity, wary of potential scams.
“What do you need it for?”
“You don’t need to know.”
“I’m just concerned…”
Ulric frowned deeply. “What do you have that you’re afraid of losing?”
“That’s true… I just want to know what my recording will be used for.”
“Remember the car accident I asked you to cause? I need to communicate directly with the owner of that car.”
The driver got smart this time. “Is it inconvenient to use your own voice?”
“Yes.”
“Got it! I’ll cooperate fully!”
After hanging up, Ulric instructed Cedric to handle the matter immediately.
With everything arranged, he glanced at the phone on his desk. The screen still displayed his conversation with Rosalind.
Pressing his thin lips together, Ulric felt disgusted with himself.
Was this what giving up looked like?
Years of unwavering determination had crumbled completely in front of Rosalind.
