Chapter 439: With Him Around

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-11-10

Ben had just finished a surgery when he received a call from an old friend. “Ben, what’s the best way to relieve menstrual pain?”
He asked seriously, and Ben blinked in confusion. “Say that again.”
The man on the other end of the line was a mix of calm and restrained, repeating his question patiently.
Ben understood and gave a playful smile. “Isn’t it possible that I’m a surgeon, not a gynecologist?”
“… We’re all doctors.”
Ben laughed heartily. “You seem quite interested.”
“If brown sugar water doesn’t work, use alcohol. Pour half a bottle into water and soak your feet for half an hour.”
Nelson believed him and frowned slightly. “What kind of alcohol?”
“The higher the alcohol content, the better. Trust me.”
Nelson trusted him.
Callie, who had guessed the purpose, felt a headache coming on. As a woman, she had never heard of such a method.
But she didn’t dare to reject it and covered her stomach, actually soaking her feet for half an hour.
Nelson was on the balcony working on his laptop. After a while, he checked his watch and walked into the room. “Feeling better?”
Not really.
Callie got up, emptied the water basin, and opened the window to ventilate the room filled with the smell of alcohol.
She asked, “What kind of alcohol did you use?”
She wasn’t very knowledgeable, but from the smell, it must have been expensive.
He had brought it for her… to soak her feet.
Nelson didn’t answer. He stood there, looking at the spot where she had been sitting.
Callie looked over and gasped, rushing to block his view. “I-I didn’t mean to!”
A small red stain had bloomed on the bed sheet.
Her face turned even redder. Callie was frustrated and saw the man’s lips curve into an amused smile.
“Don’t look!” Callie, flustered, covered his eyes with her hand. “You’re so annoying!”
The man paused with a smile, then grabbed her wrist, pinning her down on the bed.
He kissed her lips passionately, ignoring her embarrassment.
In the end, she curled up in his arms, her eyes filled with tears from today’s fright.
His deep, husky voice whispered in her ear, “It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s all over now. I’m here, don’t cry.”
Callie’s heart skipped a beat as tears slipped into her hair and disappeared.
The smell of alcohol in the air was intoxicating.
After the auction ended, Callie and Nelson returned to Paucaster Villa Complex. Soon after, news about Baxter came out.
Callie had a feeling that his fate wouldn’t be good because recently Nelson’s secretary had been poached by various big shots with promises of sky-high salaries. As an efficient assistant, everyone wanted him.
It took just one night for Baxter’s notice to come down. If things moved any faster, news of his downfall would be on tonight’s news.
As soon as Callie was taken away, evidence of Baxter’s corruption was presented overnight without hesitation. During this special period, he was made an example of and would spend the rest of his life in prison.
Everyone knew about these gray areas but no one would expose them to make enemies. However, seeing how intense this exposure was, it seemed like there was a deep grudge involved. So everyone knew he had offended someone.
Such a big event was enough to stir up widespread discussion and couldn’t be hidden. Within one night, everyone knew it was Nelson who did it.
