Cara’s pov
The leader of the feral rogues lunged at me, his bloodshot eyes gleaming in a vicious way. I saw my death flashing through my eyes, but at that moment i resigned myself to a gruesome death, everything around me seemed to com to a still, as a sudden roaring sound like heavy waterfall surged through my veins.
The familiar feeling of being overpowered came over me. It has been a long time since I felt it. Ever since my escape from Brian’s pack. I had thought that I will never come again but I as wrong.
My vision flashed white for a split second, and surprisingly the rogue leader that was coming with unimaginable speed before have now slowed down like an old grandma crossing the road. everything around me became clear, too clear. I could see the feral leader’s every movement, every twitch of his muscles, as if the world had slowed to a crawl.
My limbs felt alive, like i could lift tonnes of weight. my senss sharpened, making me acutely aware of every little detail, every breath, every heartbeat.
shoving everything aside, i focused on my imediate problem.
I stepped aside, narrowly avoiding his attack, using the little knowledge I’d gained from my training sessions with Emma and Emily to my advantage.
the rogue leader zoomed passed me as I stepped aside. his momentum carrying him forward, then turning back immediately i drove my elbow into his ribs while he was in the air, with all the force I could muster. There was a sickening crack, and the rogue leader staggered, gasping in pain.
I didn’t give him time to recover as I pounced on him, kicking him hard in the back of the knee, sending him crashing to the ground meters away from me.
It felt almost… easy. The immense power coursing through me made each of his movements predictable, sluggish. I stepped away from the now unconscious rogue. He had collapsed on the ground, and passed out.
Breathing heavily, I looked down at him, my mind racing. Did I just do that?, this was different, like I was controlling the power instead of the power controlling me. Finally it has shown itself, i had thought that after that day, it had left me completely with nothing but white hair, but i was wrong. My wolf purred out of excitement.
“Cara!” Emma’s panicky voice snapped me back to reality, and I blinked, the world speeding up once more. I blinked my eyes in confusion, ‘was it just in my head? the surge of power that had filled me began to fade away, leaving me shaken and breathless.
The sisters ran over, their eyes wide with a mixture of shock and admiration. “That was amazing!” Emily exclaimed, her voice high with excitement. “You took him down like a true warrior!”
Her expression was the one of awe, like a child with a candy, not like a child that few seconds ago took down a hefty rogue five times her size.
“Where did you learn to fight like that?” Emily asked, I could sense that she had a pinge of accusation in her tone.
I shook my head, still trying to process what had just happened. “I… I don’t know. It must have been luck,” I muttered, downplaying it as best as I could. “And I remembered a few things from the training sessions with you both.”
“You are a fast learner Cara, I thought you were a goner” she said chuckling
“Luck?…” Emily scoffed. “No way those moves are pure luck”
I was speechless not knowing what to say or how to answer her, ” ahh have your hair become brighter,” Emma shouted, breaking me from my thoughts
I laughed nervously from the eyes Emily was still giving me. She didn’t buy the luck bullshit and me, It sounded odd to my ears but that’s the viable explanation I could give them.
I shrugged, “I guessed should start going back to the pack, it’s almost midnight for the bonefire”
“That was pure skill! You moved like an Alpha! I could have sworn I saw your hair glow” Emily said
“Well,” I said with a forced laugh, “Maybe a little of what you taught me actually stuck?”
We were still talking when I felt a sudden chill run down my spine. Fromt the looks of horror from the girls, it was not a good situation. I turned around just in time to see the rogue leader, who I thought was unconscious, rising to his feet. His eyes were filled with rage and desperation, and he lunged at me once more with a snarl.
“Cara, look out!” Emma screamed, but I had no time to react.
I looked back just in time to see the crazy rogue almost on me, I could not move, I was paralyzed with fear.
But the sound of impact that I was expecting to come did not come as expected, the feelings of pain, didn’t come.
Rather the snarling of two wolves fighting filled the night.
“Are you alright?” the concern voice of Emily reached my ears
“Ye…yes i am alright, bu…but what happened, am i dead” i asked
“Someone saved you at the dime minute” Emily answered for me, caution in her voice.
“Who?” I asked peering at the bush where the sounds of fighting was still going on.
But The both girls shook their head, ” it happened so fast, we couldn’t see a thing” they both said in unison.
If the two girls, that have alpha blood could not see the movement of the new person, that means the newcomme is even more dangerous and deadly.
“We need to get out of here”, I said quickly motioning for the girl to follow me back, but they stood there like a statue, wih their eyes wide.
I turned following their gaze, but my eyes couldn’t help but widen at who I saw coming out of the forest.
