Cara’s POV
“What is it? Did you say rogues?” I whispered again, trying to follow Emily’s gaze.
“Rogues,” she repeated, her tone dead serious.
We reached a small clearing, and Emily crouched low, motioning for us to do the same. Her eyes darted back and forth, scanning for any signs of danger. I strained my ears, trying to hear whatever had caught her attention.
My heart skipped a beat. Rogues were dangerous. Unpredictable. They were the embodiment of everything wild and lawless, and I’d heard countless tales of their brutality. But so far, all the rogues I had encountered, Brian and his pack, Alexander and his sisters, seemed different. They were organised, focused. But these… something felt off.
Gathered around a small fire not far from us was a group of five ragged-looking men. At first glance, they seemed like ordinary people, but the wild red tinge in their eyes, their disheveled appearance, and the barely-contained aggression made them stand out like a sore thumb.
Emma leaned in closer, her playful demeanour gone. “They’re too close to our border. We need to take care of them before they cause trouble.”
“What… What do you mean by ‘take care’? We should go back and get help. We can’t take on five rogues by ourselves,” I warned, my voice tinged with panic.
“No, Cara. We can handle this,” Emma said, puffing out her chest in defiance.
“Yeah, we’ve been training for this our whole lives. It’s about time we show big brother we’re more than capable of protecting the pack,” Emily added, her eyes gleaming with determination.
“But… aren’t they like you? Why are they so violent?” I asked, feeling a knot of confusion in my chest.
“They’re not just any rogues, Cara,” Emily explained in a whisper. “There are two kinds of rogues. There are those like us, wolves without a pack. And then there are the ‘Ferals,’ the ones who have lost their sanity, who crave nothing but blood. They’re dangerous, beyond salvation.”
I nodded slowly, the gravity of the situation sinking in. “So, you want to take them down because they’re close to the pack?”
“Exactly,” Emily said, her eyes narrowing. “They’re up to no good. Ferals are always the bad guys.”
I swallowed hard, still unsure if I was ready for what was about to happen. But before I could protest further, the sisters sprang into action.
They moved like shadows, their bodies blending seamlessly into the darkness as they approached the rogue bandits. I hesitated, fear gnawing at me. ‘Am I really going to attack these people?’ I had been taught to protect, not to kill. But Emily’s words echoed in my head: ‘These rogues were beyond salvation.* I couldn’t let them threaten the pack.
We moved quietly, trying to maintain the element of surprise, but my clumsiness got the better of me, I stepped on a twig. The snap echoed through the still night, and I winced. The rogues immediately looked in our direction, and the element of surprise was gone.
“Dammit,” I muttered under my breath.
There was no turning back now. Emma and Emily didn’t miss a beat, they launched themselves at the rogues with a fury I’d never seen before.
The sisters weaved through the bandits with a deadly grace, their movements so fast that it was hard to keep track. Within seconds, one of the bandits was down, blood seeping from a fatal wound in his neck.
“Shit, we’re ambushed!” one of the rogues shouted in recognition.
They scrambled to their feet, trying to assess the situation, but it was clear that they were unprepared for the sisters’ swift and deadly attack.
“Why are you trespassing in our territory?” Emma and Emily demanded in unison, their voices ice-cold.
The rogues sneered, unbothered by the sight of two small girls. “Little girls, you’re not supposed to be here, but don’t worry, we’ll treat you well. And that pretty little Omega you brought along, she’ll make a fine prize,” their leader taunted, smacking his lips in a sickening manner.
A surge of anger bubbled inside me, and I clenched my fists, disgusted by his words. The feral rogues were truly sick in the head. They laughed as if their shouting comrade rolling in pain meant nothing to them.
“You’re not saying anything… okay, come to Daddy,” another rogue sneered, stepping forward toward the sisters.
There was a flash of light, and the sickening sound of a blade slicing through flesh. The rogue’s hand landed on the ground with a dull thud, twitching.
A scream tore through the air, and I stared in horror as Emily had cut off the man’s hand without so much as blinking.
“Anyone else care to underestimate us?” Emily asked, her eyes never leaving the rogue leader. Right now she doesn’t look like a fourteen year old girl, she loves like a refined warrior that has seen her own share of blood.
The leader gasped, recognition dawning on his face. “Alphas…”
But the sisters didn’t give him a chance to react. They bolted forward, and the deadly dance of combat began. I could only watch in stunned silence.
The sisters moved like warriors, their blades flashing in the moonlight. They twisted, dodged, and struck with the precision of seasoned fighters, their movements fluid and mesmerizing. It was like watching a deadly ballet, each strike calculated, every move purposeful.
I stood staring at the way the girls were fighting the now serious Ferals with grace I could never match.
I was still entranced by their battle when I felt a presence behind me. One of the rogues had slipped past the sisters and was now bearing down on me, his eyes filled with bloodlust.
“Cara, watch out!” Emily’s cry rang out, but it was too late.
Hahaha, you two are still small kids even though you are alphas, don’t worry we won’t harm any of you that much, when we are through with the three of you, we will sell you to the alphas looking for slave” the sick voice of the leader reverberated down my bones.
He was relaxed, taking his time stalking me, as he took his time to peer at me, locking his lips. ” this one is mine, it’s rare to see a beauty like this”
The sisters were already occupied with three hefty strong Ferals, even as Emily tried to overwhelm them with skills, the rogues were just strong and the sisters were just children, there is a limit they can use their strength even as alphas.
The rogue’s leader towered over me, his eyes gleaming with a twisted sense of pleasure. “You should’ve run when you had the chance, little Omega,” he sneered. “Now, you’re mine.”
I could see the twisted grin on his face, the way his eyes roamed over me as if I were nothing more than a prey. A shiver ran down my spine, my heat pounded in my heart.
I can’t die here! I can’t die here!
“Your shiny skills can’t save you now, don’t worry darling, we will have a lot of fun,” the leader said before lounging at me, with claws gleaming from the moonlight , and flashing a dirty set of teeth stained with blood from killing lots of people.
