43- Impossible

Book:Mavana; The Silver Omega Published:2024-11-6

Luna Mavana strode from her room, her thoughts fixed on her Alpha abandoning her to fight by herself in the pack.
She was not feeling well about it, despite knowing that the Alpha of a pack is required to follow his people whenever there is a war.
Suddenly, she felt irritated, her intestines twitching in tandem with the nausea in her chest. She felt her eyes close voluntarily, and her head spun so fast that she almost lost balance.
She gripped the edge of the wall with her face, drained of blood, and her retching became more intense. Her legs became weak and trembled as she tried to maintain her consciousness.
Her vision became increasingly blurry, leaving her disoriented.
With a soft sigh, she collapsed, her body colliding with the floor with a thud, drawing the maid’s and guards’ attention to her.
Her eyelids fluttered shut as darkness overtook her consciousness.
“Luna!” Her newly assigned personal maid was the first to notice her; in a sprint, she dashed over to Luna Mavana’s side and immediately went on her knees, attempting to awaken her.
“Attention, everyone. Luna Mavana has suddenly lost consciousness” She yelled, trying desperately not to cry.
The other maids and guards rushed to her side, helping Luna up and carrying her to her room right away.

Three guards rushed to the meeting room to inform Alpha of the situation on the ground.
“I apologize for the interruption, Alpha; the Luna just fainted.” One of them made an announcement as soon as they stepped into the meeting room.
Alpha Damian jumped to his feet, shocked, panic and fear pervading his mind; disregarding the looks of some of the elders, he rushed out of the meeting room after informing the beta to contact the royal doctor.
As soon as he entered the room, he waved off the guards and maids. His gaze was fixed on Luna on the bed, and he took a deep breath and strode closer. He moved closer to her and sat on the bed’s edge, holding her hands.
A smile crept up on his lips as if he understood what was going on; his mind flashed back to the last time he communicated with her via the mind-link. He vividly remembered feeling two heartbeats that day.
He kissed her hand lightly, not wanting to lose himself in those thoughts and create false expectations.
“What is wrong, Alpha?” The royal doctor asked, and he and one of his apprentices walked into the room right away.
“Come check her by yourself,” he said, standing up from her side while keeping a close eye on her and whatever the royal doctor was doing.
The royal doctor gave him a forced and fake smile before handing his apprentice his bag and gesturing for him to approach as he walked over to Luna’s side.
He placed his palm on her forehead, felt the heat, and quickly pulled his hand away, his face squeezing with confusion.
“What is it?” Alpha Damian inquired, having observed the royal doctor’s actions.
“It is nothing serious, Alpha; I was just surprised by the amount of heat emanating from her body,” he replied, continuing with his examination. He stretched his hand forward to his apprentice and a stethoscope was placed on his hand.
He fixed it in his ears properly and gently placed the flat surface on her chest.
“Thum, Thum, Thum.” He listened to her heartbeat, but there was also a steady beat in the background, albeit a low and slow one.
He removed the flat surface from her chest and looked over at the Alpha. He shook his head in disbelief and repeated the process, making sure his attention was solely on the heartbeat.
This earlier slow heartbeat gradually became audible and synchronized with Luna Mavana’s heartbeat.
He squinted his eyes in rage and irritation, glaring daggers at her, and removed the stethoscope, which he stretched back to his apprentice, who returned it to the bag.
“I could not put my finger on what caused her to faint, but I believe she is experiencing…..” His statement was cut short by a knock on the door.
Beta Frank and The Alpha’s mother entered. The Alpha’s mother rushed over to Mavana and sat beside her, her eyes filled with sympathy.
“What happened with her?” She inquired, turning her attention to the royal doctor, He gulped down the lump in his throat before opening his mouth to respond.
His face twitched with nervousness as he felt very uncomfortable with the Alpha’s mother’s expression.
“I believe she fainted as a result of stress, as evidenced by her pale complexion and my observations.” His speech came out more quickly than usual.
The Alpha’s mother batted an eyelash in suspicion, and a chuckle escaped her throat as she glared at him, stunned.
She grasped Mavana’s right hand and pressed her fingers against her wrist, feeling her pulse.
It strangely overlapped with a slower pace that differed from an adult’s.
A smile curled up on her lips.
“I am sure you did a thorough check on her, and I am not disputing what you said, but are you certain of what you are saying? Even without much observation, it is clear that she is pregnant.” The Alpha’s mother muttered and glared at the royal doctor.
Alpha Damian’s eyes widened in stunned silence, his lips parted in amazement, and his gaze never left his mother’s face.
He feels a mix of emotions: excitement, joy, and uncertainty.
“Oh my… wow!” He exclaimed softly, barely audible.
“Mother!, Are you serious… like really serious? ” He inquired, shifting his gaze to the royal doctor, who was overwhelmed with humiliation.
“Even a blind person can see that she is pregnant,” she said, rolling her eyes at the royal doctor, who opened his mouth to respond.
“Erhhmm, what happened is that Alpha Damian’s is impotent… He is unable to produce his child.” His words were like a hot dagger, piercing Alpha Damian’s heart.
His smiling face quickly turned sour, not because he believed the royal doctor’s claims, but because the words hurt.
The Alpha’s mother was in complete shock; she shook her head in disbelief, her gaze laced with curiosity as she fixed it on the royal doctor. “What do you mean?” she blurted out.
“The poison destroyed his reproductive abilities,” the royal doctor explained.
Alpha Damian’s eyes narrowed as his mind raced with various ideas.
“That is impossible,” he said, growling.
