Chapter 415: Guarding Against Her

Litzy worriedly asked, “Is this okay? Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
What she didn’t see was that just outside the door, the person they were discussing stood with a colder expression than before. He suddenly smiled mockingly.
From what she said, it seemed Nelson was not as good as Jaquan.
After Litzy left, Callie stared blankly at her phone.
There were many unread messages on Messenger, one of which was from Jaquan. His profile picture was a black square, and his message was as cold and mature as he was: “I received the news. How do you want to handle it? Suppress it?”
He had asked in the morning, but Callie only saw it now.
Thinking of his face, she sneered and typed: “Jaquan, do you care about me?”
He replied instantly with a question mark.
-That’s not how you show concern for someone.
Jaquan: Looks like you’re sober now.
Lost in thought, Callie was suddenly startled by a touch. She instinctively turned off her phone screen and held it close to her chest. To her surprise, Nelson was standing beside her.
His expression was calm, showing no strong emotions. He looked at her indifferently, “Why are you so flustered?”
Callie took a deep breath, “When did you come back? How come… you walk without making a sound.”
He had arrived so quietly that she didn’t even know how long he had been there or what he might have seen.
Nelson’s face was still calm. Callie guessed he had just arrived and quickly masked her surprise. “Do you want something to eat? I can ask Nancy to make it.”
Nelson looked at her, “I want to eat something you make.”
Callie was surprised, “Are you joking? There’s no time now; it’s too late to prepare.”
The man didn’t get angry. Instead, he suddenly reached out to take her phone. Callie’s face changed instantly as she gripped it tightly, “What’s wrong…”
Nelson didn’t speak but applied more force. She resisted.
In the struggle of expressions, she ultimately couldn’t match his strength. He unlocked the phone and handed it to her gently, “Be good, unlock it.”
Callie’s face turned to one of terror. Her heart pounded as she reluctantly used her fingerprint to unlock the phone under Nelson’s gaze.
Nelson wasn’t fond of the internet era and rarely chatted online. But now, he skillfully opened Messenger and found the conversation.
A quick glance was enough for him to understand.
Callie panicked, feeling her own inadequacy. “Nelson, don’t you trust me? What have I done to make you guard against me like this?”
The man turned off the phone and tossed it aside casually.
“Callie, there’s something I didn’t want to tell you. Do you remember Jett?”
Callie’s eyes showed fear.
How could she forget? He was someone she had painstakingly recruited into the design department but was transferred away due to some ambiguous relationship with her.
Nelson slowly unbuttoned his cufflinks, preparing to say something significant. “An insignificant person with a low status-so what? He touches what’s mine. He won’t get away with it. Guess where he is now?”
Callie clenched her fists. The last she heard of Jett was that he was in Ylosea.
“The quickest way to make someone give up is to take away everything important to them. Unfortunately for him, I have the means to do that.”
Nelson’s eyes narrowed slightly, sending chills down her spine.
She clenched her fists tighter. He didn’t just have the means; he had complete control.
As he approached, Callie stepped back, not daring to meet his gaze directly.
