“Five million dollars.”
Even if she sold herself, she wouldn’t have that much money. It seemed the other party knew she was Mrs. Oconnor and dared to demand such an exorbitant amount because of the Oconnor family’s backing.
“Mrs. Oconnor, I know you don’t want this identity exposed. To protect yourself, why not spend some money to avoid trouble?”
Callie took a deep breath. “Give me some time to think about it.”
She informed Litzy about the situation, and soon Litzy came directly to the Paucaster Villa Complex.
She had never been to Nelson’s place before. Despite her anger, she was still nervous as she approached.
No wonder it was a high-security area; there were many plainclothes guards from the entrance of the Paucaster Villa Complex, looking like passersby but exuding the same toughness as Nelson.
Before entering, they checked her identity, took her fingerprints, and called Callie for confirmation.
Callie seemed accustomed to this process. “Yes, let her in. She’s my friend.”
Only then was she allowed in safely.
Inside, the servants were very polite, bringing tea and snacks, and treating guests very well.
Callie sat in the room, staring at the photos on her phone. “Honestly, how did they take these pictures? They made me look so ugly.”
She wasn’t sober yesterday. Seeing the paparazzi’s photos reconstructing the situation now seemed quite interesting. Nelson hadn’t treated her badly; he often held her like that.
Litzy was already restless and furious. “Is that the point? They captured your face! What are these paparazzi thinking? If this gets exposed, it will have a huge impact on you!”
Nelson returned to the Paucaster Villa Complex at this moment, with Kieran following silently behind him. His face looked displeased, possibly because Marilyn had blocked his car.
“Where’s Callie?”
“Madam is upstairs with a friend.”
This was Callie’s first time having a friend over.
Callie couldn’t understand whether that company was out of its mind or just incredibly bold. “How dare they photograph Nelson?”
Litzy fanned herself with her hand. “Five million dollars! Why don’t they just rob a bank?”
Callie joked, “Nelson doesn’t lack that kind of money. We could give it to them, but I don’t want to make it that easy for them.”
Litzy was momentarily speechless. It seemed true. “After all, he is your husband.”
Callie put her phone on the table and sighed a bit. “Luckily, it wasn’t Jaquan they photographed.”
“What Jaquan?” Litzy almost jumped up in anger again. “You want to be photographed with Jaquan? That would cost more than five million dollars, and you’d be scolded to death.”
Under the light, Callie’s skin looked exceptionally good. She blinked indifferently. “That’s why we should be thankful it wasn’t Jaquan but Nelson. We’re already lucky.”
Litzy’s mouth twitched. “Does that make it any less serious?”
Callie’s fingers paused. “Jaquan is different…”
He was single, and his identity was not as sensitive. No one would care who he spent time with.
But Nelson was different.
“Don’t give them the five million dollars. Let them expose it. Before that, find a way to inform Nelson’s people. He will naturally buy it off. He won’t want any scandals at this time.”
Callie understood Nelson’s thoughts clearly.
Because he still needed to restrain the Ellison family, if Marilyn saw it, she would definitely cause a scene.
Thinking of this, her expression darkened a bit.
Litzy understood. “But… you’re calculating against Nelson.”
“He has calculated against me plenty of times.” Callie’s words were devoid of emotion. To her, it was true; many moments she felt happy were times he was calculating against her.
