Chapter 413: Caught in Photos

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-11-6

The day after getting drunk, Callie received a call from Litzy. There was a long silence on the other end before Litzy spoke, “What exactly happened?”
Callie hadn’t blacked out and vaguely remembered everything. After she got drunk, Nelson seemed to have come to pick her up… and they ran into Litzy… He directly carried her away…
Callie’s scalp tingled as she struggled to find the right words, “Uh… is it possible that he’s my distant relative?”
Litzy let out a cold laugh, “Your distant relative would carry you in his arms like you were a couple?”
The voice was so loud that Callie instinctively moved the phone away from her ear. Litzy continued to berate her, “I can’t believe your so-called disabled husband is Nelson! My God, Callie, you’ve impressed me, lying to me for so long!”
Callie silently endured the scolding, nodding and bowing on her end of the line, “Please don’t be angry. There were reasons I had to keep it a secret. I didn’t want to either.”
Litzy took a deep breath, “When did this happen, Callie? I knew you were bold, but I didn’t think you were this bold, to actually be with Nelson. No, more importantly, how did you manage it?”
Callie bit her lip, “Sometimes, you need a bit of luck, and I happened to be lucky.”
Litzy was silent for a while before saying, “I remember now. Those photos the media took were of you. I kept wondering why they looked so much like you. It wasn’t just a resemblance; it was you!”
“What’s your status now? Are you dating?”
Callie knew she couldn’t hide it any longer. It was better to come clean, “We’re married.”
A long silence followed.
“Are you okay?” Callie asked cautiously.
“My friend is actually the boss’s wife. It’s like a TV drama happening around me.”
“Well, not exactly, because it might not be for long,” she said honestly.
Litzy didn’t believe her, “Don’t talk nonsense. From the way Mr. Oconnor looked at you yesterday, his eyes were glued to you. He looked like he wanted to kill anyone who touched you.”
Callie paused, “Besides you, did anyone else see us yesterday?”
“Aden did, but he probably won’t say anything. Mr. Oconnor’s secretary warned him.” Litzy remembered something else, “So the people in the secretary’s office knew all along.”
“Wait, if that’s the case, why did you leave the design department? To avoid suspicion?”
Callie couldn’t tell her that it was Nelson’s punishment for her. “It’s a long story. I’ll tell you when I get a chance.”
“Where are you now?”
Callie had just finished freshening up when a servant brought her some hangover soup and mentioned casually, “It has ginseng in it. The old master sent it over a few days ago and specifically instructed us to give it to you to nourish your body.”
Callie nodded.
It had been a while since she last visited Nelson’s grandfather. She had been busy with complicated matters and her ambiguous relationship with Nelson made it hard for her to decide how to face him.
She felt very sorry for the old man.
While still on the phone with Litzy, Callie suddenly received a message with several photos. Although they were pixelated, it was clear that they showed Nelson carrying her drunk self into a car. The angles were tricky and made them look extremely intimate.
The key issue was that her face was visible in these photos.
The sender wrote: Pay up if you don’t want these leaked.
Callie’s heart sank as she replied, “How much do you want?”
