Chapter 249 Georgia’s Kinks

Wood’s words hit Lewis like a bombshell, leaving his mind buzzing with disbelief.
Her gaze sharpened as she fixed her eyes on Lewis’s aging face. “Lewis, I assume there’s nothing more you need to ask me? If not, I’ll just head back to rest.”
Lewis pressed his lips together, quickly averting his gaze from Wood’s piercing eyes before finally lowering his head.
What Wood had just said was a constant ache in Lewis’s heart, the very reason he had indulged her for so long.
Years ago, Sariah had indeed collapsed at the doorstep of Lewis’s home, covered in blood. Lewis had no idea what this woman had gone through, but he had noticed her beauty and an idea had formed in his mind.
Just two days prior, Lewis’s youngest son had passed away. His greatest regret was that his son had never gotten married, and his son’s only wish was to marry a stunning beauty.
In his grief over losing his son, Lewis also felt guilt for the sacrifice his son had made for the family. He had searched Inassea for countless beautiful women, but the moment the beauties heard they were to marry a dead man, they ran off in fear.
When he saw the unconscious Sariah, he made a decision. He would have her marry his late son, fulfilling his son’s dying wish. Thus, Sariah married into the Henderson family.
In the car, Greedy Wolf kept glancing at Kayden through the rearview mirror, noticing that Kayden had his eyes closed, seemingly resting. Each time he opened his mouth to speak, the words got stuck in his throat, leaving him in a state of hesitation.
“What? Do you have something to say?” Kayden asked, even with his eyes closed. He didn’t need to look to sense Greedy Wolf’s reaction through his own inner will, so he could feel that Greedy Wolf had something to say.
Greedy Wolf acknowledged him and then spoke, “Defender, I know I shouldn’t be saying this to you! But as someone older, I feel it’s necessary to remind you that being alone with Wood just now could raise suspicions. While you wouldn’t do anything to Wood, others might not think the same. They could assume that you both…”
He paused, clearly uncomfortable. Kayden opened his eyes, his voice steady, “Continue.”
Greedy Wolf clenched his jaw and added, “People will think you and Wood shared something intimate, especially since she’s currently attracting a lot of attention. If this rumor spreads, it could seriously damage your reputation. So, I hope you consider the impact on yourself! Wood is still your subordinate, and given the situation earlier, many were watching.”
Kayden scoffed softly, lifting his head to meet Greedy Wolf’s eyes in the mirror. “Are you trying to teach me how to conduct myself?”
Greedy Wolf flinched, quickly retracting his gaze, anxiety creeping into his voice. “I wouldn’t dare! I just worry that your lack of experience in social matters might lead to misunderstandings. For instance, if Mrs. Scott were to misinterpret things, it could greatly affect you.”
At the mention of Georgia, Kayden’s expression shifted slightly. He pondered the truth in Greedy Wolf’s words. If Georgia misunderstood their relationship, she would surely be upset, especially since she had questioned his ties to Sariah more than once. Taking a deep breath, he replied, “I understand. I know how to manage my affairs.”
“By the way, was Wood harmed by that organization?” Greedy Wolf changed the subject.
Kayden nodded. “They’re showing me their full capabilities.”
Greedy Wolf frowned, then said with a steely voice, “They’re digging their own graves!”
“It’s fine! Let them surface,” Kayden added.
“Should we investigate Wood further?” Greedy Wolf inquired.
Kayden took a deep breath, staring out the window with a distant look in his eyes. “No need.”
With that, their conversation came to an abrupt halt. Kayden continued to gaze out the window, contemplating, Bring it on! If danger is approaching, let it come fiercely!
Three of his trusted subordinates-Flood, Firefist, and Wood-had already been taken down.
He was aware of three. There were still unknowns: Gold and Liam. He wondered if they were still alive.
After a deep breath, Kayden leaned back against the seat, closing his eyes again.
A troubling thought flashed in his mind-how was Georgia faring? When he left, he had just settled matters at home, ensuring that his family wouldn’t bother her anymore. But would that organization target her?
Though it didn’t seem like their style, what if they did? What then?
With that thought, Kayden quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Georgia’s number.
In Hiphia, Georgia sat on the couch, her eyes glued to the television, seemingly engrossed. But in reality, her mind was elsewhere.
“I won’t stand for anyone slandering my wife. She’s not to be blamed for things she hasn’t done.”
“Old Mrs. Adams, my wife’s silence isn’t an invitation for abuse. It’s out of respect for you and the Adams family. But how have you repaid that respect? You’ve taken advantage of her kindness, even demanding more!”
“You’ve pushed her to the fringes, treating her like a servant rather than family. In your eyes, my wife’s life holds no value. What, because she married someone you deemed a fool, she deserves this treatment?”
“Handle the rest as you see fit! If she’s satisfied, she’ll stay with the Adams family. If not, I’ll create a brand new Adams family for her!”
Georgia couldn’t shake off Kayden’s words from yesterday. Since she returned, they had played on repeat in her mind. Each time she recalled them, a smile of happiness spread across her face.
When did Kayden become so caring? Such a side of him made it hard not to fall for him!
In this moment of inner contentment, Georgia found herself grappling with significant kinks over yesterday’s events.
How had Jamie become like this? He seemed fine, and then suddenly, he had broken limbs, looking rather pitiful. Yet, Georgia felt no sympathy. He didn’t deserve it! He had schemed against her at every turn, even collaborating with outsiders to endanger his own life-an unforgivable crime!
Ironically, Jamie’s fate seemed to align perfectly with the curse he had made.
He once swore that if he got his hands on the money, he would walk and break his limbs! It sounded absurd, but he truly had broken them-while walking!
Georgia didn’t buy into the idea of karma. She was educated and knew that this incident wasn’t divine retribution but Kayden’s doing! He wouldn’t allow anyone to bully her.
Her conviction that Kayden was behind it all was bolstered by the fact that only Old Mrs. Adams and she had heard Jamie’s vow, along with Kayden and Lara. Excluding herself and Old Mrs. Adams, the latter was too fond of Jamie to act against him.
Lara was typically aloof; she wouldn’t resort to such actions. Thus, it had to be Kayden-he was capable of such things, and Georgia firmly believed he had orchestrated it perfectly!
