“One last chance for you. Leave now and live, or stay and perish!” Billy responded.
“How about this? I’ll give you one chance to strike with all your might. If you can make me take a step back, I’ll release the Muir family immediately. How does that sound?” Duskreaper replied.
“But if you can’t make me retreat, you’ll have to go down and wait for them first!”
“As you wish!” Billy answered.
“Then strike!” Duskreaper commanded.
“Alright!” Billy responded.
As soon as he finished speaking, his aura surged to its peak. He then activated his bloodline power without hesitation, preparing to unleash the ‘Heaven Killer’ blade technique.
In truth, he had no confidence in himself. Although his strike was powerful, even Charity could easily withstand it, let alone Duskreaper. However, he believed that Sanaa wouldn’t send him here just to die; he just didn’t know how to proceed, so he decided to try his luck.
To Billy’s shock, just as he activated his bloodline power and before he could unleash the ‘Heaven Killer’ strike, the Bloodshadow Fury Blade slipped from his control. The blade flew out of his hand, shot straight into the sky, and a bolt of lightning flashed from its blade, piercing the clouds with a terrifying display.
In the next moment, the blade, along with the lightning, slashed towards Duskreaper, tearing a near ten-thousand-mile rift in the sky, capable of destroying everything in its path.
On the other side, Duskreaper’s calm demeanor vanished as soon as the blade left Billy’s control. He sensed a chilling aura of death enveloping him, and his face changed drastically, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints.
Without a second thought, he retreated rapidly. With his teleportation speed, he covered several kilometers in an instant. However, despite his incredible speed, it wasn’t enough. The blade seemed to have locked onto him.
Before he could stabilize himself, the blade slashed down near his head.
“Damn it!” Duskreaper’s pupils shrank again as he raised his hand to block.
The blade’s light fell, severing an arm that flew into the air with blood spraying everywhere. Duskreaper retreated several more kilometers in desperation. But to his dismay, the blade didn’t intend to let him go. It circled in the air and chased after him again.
“Stop! Make it stop! I agree to all your conditions!” Duskreaper screamed in terror.
“Sorry, it’s not under my control. I don’t know how to stop it!” Billy’s voice echoed.
He wasn’t lying; he truly didn’t know how to stop the blade. He was still bewildered by its actions. He had never known that the blade could act on its own and launch such a powerful attack.
Moreover, it had managed to sever an arm from a formidable opponent like Duskreaper in one strike-unbelievable! Although Billy didn’t know Duskreaper’s exact level of cultivation, he estimated it to be at least mid-to-late Supreme Source Realm or even higher. Yet in front of the blade, Duskreaper had no chance to fight back. It was astonishing!
Not only Billy but also Gideon Muir and Charity were equally shocked and confused. They could see that the blade was acting on its own without Billy’s control. They had heard of high-level weapons gaining sentience due to human consciousness being infused into them, but they never expected it to be this extreme.
After all, Duskreaper was a demon who had single-handedly wreaked havoc in a seventh-tier star domain thousands of years ago. And now, he was easily losing an arm to a blade! If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, who would believe it?
They were also intensely curious about Billy’s blade. What kind of master could make a lifeless weapon this powerful?
“Try stopping it with your spiritual power!” Duskreaper was almost in tears.
After being sealed for so many years, he was finally free today. He hadn’t even had a chance to enjoy the outside world before facing death by the blade! Could there be anything more tragic?
Moreover, he had a strong premonition that if his body was destroyed by the blade, his soul would likely perish too-utter annihilation!
Before he could finish speaking, the blade slashed again, severing his right leg which flew into the air.
“Damn it! What kind of cursed blade is this?” Duskreaper nearly went mad as he shouted and retreated again.
Unsurprisingly, the blade chased after him once more. With one arm and one leg gone, Duskreaper’s teleportation speed plummeted. In a breath’s time, the blade caught up to him again.
“Stop it!!! Make it stop…” Duskreaper shouted in terror but stopped mid-sentence as the blade halted at his forehead. Just half a foot closer and he would be obliterated!
“Mr. Blade… spare me…” Duskreaper pleaded with a trembling voice.
He didn’t want to die like this. After waiting for over ten thousand years, dying now would be too pitiful.
The blade remained motionless before him, but he dared not move or hope for mercy.
“Boy, tell it to let me go…” Duskreaper looked at Billy and continued, “I promise I won’t trouble the Muir family again…”
“That’s not enough!” Billy replied calmly.
As he spoke, he tried communicating with the blade using spiritual power but got no response.
From his perspective, if possible, he wouldn’t bother talking so much; he’d prefer to end it with one strike! However, seeing that the blade didn’t intend to kill Duskreaper outright, he couldn’t take charge.
“I also promise not to kill innocents anymore…” Duskreaper added.
“Still not enough!” Billy said again and then kindly reminded him: “Don’t you have any valuable items on you?”
Duskreaper’s mouth twitched slightly. He then produced a vest-like item and handed it to Billy. It was as thin as paper and its material was indiscernible.
“What is this?” Billy examined it and asked.
“Mr. Billy, this should be Demonhide!” Gideon Muir responded on behalf of Duskreaper.
“Demonhide?” Billy was puzzled. “What’s its use?”
“It’s a type of defensive armor,” Gideon Muir explained further. “Its unique feature is that its defensive strength isn’t fixed but related to the wearer’s cultivation level.”
“What do you mean?” Billy asked again.
“For example,” Gideon Muir continued, “if you’re currently at first-rank Prime Source Realm and wear it, it can defend against a full-force attack from a Returning Source Realm expert.”
“And when your cultivation reaches first-rank Returning Source Realm,” Gideon Muir added, “it might defend against attacks from the Dry Source Realm!”
“Is that so?” Billy’s eyes lit up slightly.
If true, this item was indeed valuable!
“I’ve only heard about it; you can ask him!” Gideon Muir pointed at Duskreaper.
“It’s true!” Duskreaper nodded in confirmation.
“Besides this Demonhide, do you have any other treasures?” Billy stored the Demonhide in his storage ring.
