“Let that Atrarian go for now. But Arthur, keep a close eye on him and don’t let him escape,” Angus said through gritted teeth.
“Don’t worry, Uncle Angus,” Arthur replied, hiding his disappointment.
“Let Satan be our witness as we pray for poor Rupert, wishing him eternal life,” Prince Devon raised his wine glass with a sorrowful expression.
“Satan bless!” The vampires chanted in unison.
A minute later, Prince Devon broke the silence with a somber tone, “Alright, let’s finish our wine and begin our mission. I believe House Lessane will achieve glory in our hands.”
“Praise Satan!” The vampires excitedly drained their goblets, except for Angus, whose face remained gloomy.
“Let’s go,” Prince Devon stood up, his large cloak casting a shadow.
“As you command, Your Highness,” the vampires rose and prepared to leave.
Just then, a lazy laugh came from outside the window, “Leaving without entertaining your guest?”
A human presence!
All the vampires were stunned.
“Who are you?” Prince Devon asked calmly.
Leo didn’t answer. Instead, he kicked open the heavy hall door and walked in with a cold desert wind.
“It’s you!” Arthur’s anger flared when he saw Leo. “He’s the Atrarian who killed my cousin Rupert!”
“What?!” The vampires were enraged.
“You dare kill my descendant?” Duke Angus roared, “I will make your death excruciating and show you the horrors of hell!”
Leo glanced at the dead young woman in the cage and sneered, “Which one of you saw me kill Rupert? I see you torturing the innocent.”
The vampires turned to Arthur, who scoffed, “If you didn’t kill Rupert, why hasn’t he returned?”
Leo clapped his hands and said, “Rupert, come out.”
At the door, Rupert appeared wrapped in a cloud of black mist, shocking the vampires.
They looked at Arthur again. Arthur was dumbfounded and stammered, “Cousin Rupert, how did you get involved with an Atrarian?”
Rupert looked at Leo with a mix of shame and urgency: Didn’t you say I shouldn’t show myself?
Ignoring Rupert’s gaze, Leo continued, “I’ll answer for him. Your Rupert has pledged allegiance to me. As a token of loyalty, he revealed the secret of King Solomon’s treasure.”
“What?!” The vampires were once again shocked.
Betraying the family was one of the top ten crimes among vampires. Pledging allegiance to a human was even more disgraceful.
“Angus, is this your fine descendant?” Prince Devon glared at Duke Angus with fury.
House Lessane had spent immense time, money, and effort to uncover King Solomon’s treasure. Now Rupert had given it away effortlessly!
Duke Angus was furious and humiliated. He pointed at Rupert and said through clenched teeth, “Traitor to Satan! How could there be such scum among vampires? How could I have such a descendant!”
“Today, you will face the family’s harshest punishment. Satan be my witness!”
Seeing his father’s murderous intent, Rupert felt fear but also reckless boldness. He sneered, “Dear father, want to kill me? Take care of yourselves first. None of you will survive tonight.”
“Do you know who this gentleman is? He is Leo from Atraria, the one who defeated Cedric!”
A wave of cold fear swept through the vampires.
Prince Devon glared at Arthur with fury: You fool! How could you provoke such a terrifying opponent!?
Arthur’s legs went weak. He wished he could slap himself two hundred times. He cursed himself for provoking this demon.
“Haha, esteemed guest from Atraria, welcome,” Prince Devon forced a fake smile. “What happened before was a misunderstanding. For Satan’s sake, please give House Lessane a chance to make amends.”
Leo shrugged and said, “I’m here because your Rupert wants you dead. That was his condition for pledging allegiance to me. He fears your retribution.”
Prince Devon’s last hope shattered. The vampires felt a chilling fear and immense anger.
Nine pairs of blood-red eyes glared at Rupert with murderous intent.
Rupert’s face turned pale. He forced a smile and said, “Don’t blame me. I can’t die for Arthur’s mistakes. So I had to sacrifice you.”
“Well then, gentlemen, it’s time to go. Take the secret of King Solomon’s treasure to Satan as my sincere greeting.”
Leo smiled elegantly as a terrifying killing intent emanated from him.
In an instant, the hall felt like it was burning with intense heat.
“Wait,” Prince Devon suddenly cried out.
“Any last words? Make it quick; I’m not known for my patience,” Leo’s voice was as cold as steel.
Leo’s words made Prince Devon pale.
Prince Devon knew that someone who could kill Cedric was beyond House Lessane’s capability to fight. If they resisted, House Lessane would be doomed.
Without hesitation, Devon gritted his teeth and said, “Mr. Bloomer, if you spare House Lessane, we will abandon King Solomon’s treasure and keep it secret forever. We will also not pursue Rupert’s betrayal.”
“Really?” Leo smiled indifferently. “I don’t trust The Devil’s Party’s promises. Besides, I believe only dead men keep secrets forever.”
Seeing that Leo still intended to kill them, Prince Devon felt utterly frustrated but couldn’t let House Lessane be destroyed under his watch.
“Mr. Bloomer, if you don’t trust us, we are willing to pledge allegiance to you through Soul Sacrifice!” Prince Devon said helplessly.
“Soul Sacrifice? What does that mean?” Leo asked curiously.
Rupert panicked and shouted, “Sir, don’t listen to them! Kill them now!”
