Chapter 1696: Presenting Facts and Reasoning

The four knights raised their cross swords again, their faces solemn and sacred.
This time, the Grand Elder Adrian joined the four knights in chanting.
As they chanted, a layer of white light quickly enveloped Adrian and the four knights.
The energy waves from the white light created an intense pressure that even Leo could feel.
Rupert, behind Leo, was shocked and shouted, “Sir, stop their chanting! They are performing a terrifying forbidden spell!”
Upon hearing Rupert’s words, Leo immediately acted, casting a talisman.
The talisman flashed with fire, transforming into a massive wave of flames that surged towards Adrian and the four knights.
Adrian and the knights ignored the flames, fully focused on their chant.
In an instant, the flames collided with the protective holy light around Adrian and the knights.
The flames began to dissolve the holy light layer by layer.
The closer the flames got to Adrian and the others, the stronger the resistance from the holy light became.
When the flames were about thirty centimeters away from their bodies, they could no longer advance and shattered with a roar.
At the same time, Adrian and the knights completed their chant.
“Power of divine destruction, eradicate the heretics completely!”
With Adrian’s clear shout, five beams of holy light shot up from his staff and the knights’ cross swords, intertwining into one.
Rupert let out a terrified scream, transforming into a black bat and fleeing as far as he could.
Despite acknowledging Leo as his master, Rupert wasn’t foolish enough to sacrifice himself in a life-or-death situation.
A powerful force locked onto Leo, making it difficult for him to breathe.
However, Leo showed no fear. He waved his right hand and cast another talisman.
This time, the talisman contained Leo’s immense spiritual power and the strength of the Nine-Leaf Ice Soul Lotus.
Two dragons of ice and fire emerged, charging towards the descending holy light with destructive force.
With a thunderous crash, the holy light was obliterated by the ice and fire dragons as the chapel trembled violently.
The dragons also disintegrated in mid-air, turning into sparks and ice crystals that floated down.
As the holy light was destroyed, Adrian and the knights screamed in pain, spitting blood and stumbling back, nearly collapsing.
Their faces were pale as paper, their breaths weak, no longer able to fight.
In contrast, Leo only took a step back, his expression calm and composed.
“Grand Elder, do you now have a deeper understanding of my strength?” Leo asked Adrian mockingly.
“Who… who are you to break divine destruction?!” Adrian’s tone was incredulous.
“I told you before, who I am doesn’t matter. What matters is that none of you are my match.”
“Adrian, stop resisting in vain. Hand over the treasure!” Rupert reappeared from somewhere, arrogantly pointing at Adrian.
Leo glanced at Rupert. “This is not your place to speak. Shut up!”
Feeling Leo’s killing intent, Rupert shivered and fell silent immediately.
“Grand Elder, I’m not fond of violence. Just tell me where the treasure is hidden, and we can settle this peacefully,” Leo said gently.
But Adrian shook his head firmly. “Don’t be delusional. As long as one descendant of Yelira lives, you will never get the treasure!”
“Are you willing to die for this treasure?” Leo’s patience was wearing thin with Adrian’s stubbornness.
“You are Atrarian. The treasure has nothing to do with Atraria. What you’re doing is no different from robbery!” Adrian tried to take the moral high ground.
Leo couldn’t help but laugh. “Grand Elder, you’ve lived this long and still so naive.”
“The treasure doesn’t belong to me, but it doesn’t belong to House Rupert either! From what I know, King Solomon’s treasure was mostly plundered from various vassal states during his reign. It’s not righteous wealth!”
“The law of the jungle is natural. My presence here means you no longer have the power to keep the treasure. So it should change hands!”
“You… you’re talking nonsense!” Adrian was furious but couldn’t find a reason to refute Leo.
“I’ll ask you one last time. Will you tell me where the treasure is?” Leo asked impatiently.
Adrian remained resolute, showing no fear in his eyes.
Seeing Adrian’s stubbornness, Rupert grew anxious. He wanted to use his vampire methods to torture Adrian into submission.
Leo frowned, deep in thought.
He wasn’t greedy for wealth. As a cultivator, he had little interest in riches.
He sought King Solomon’s treasure just as he had sought The Iron Guard’s treasure before-to offer it to his great motherland. That was the best use for it.
Leo felt helpless against Adrian’s obstinance because he had no deep hatred for House Rupert and wouldn’t kill indiscriminately.
After a moment of contemplation, Leo smiled. “Grand Elder, why be so stubborn? The reason your family has kept the treasure safe until now is because its secret hasn’t been leaked.”
“But now that House Rupert’s secret is out, your family can’t protect it against various forces. You’ll face disaster.”
“Even if I leave today, stronger forces will come. They won’t be as civilized as I am.”
Leo’s words hit Adrian’s deepest fears.
“What… what do you want?” Adrian trembled with fear and anxiety.
“I told you, I just want the treasure.” Leo shrugged. “If you hand it over, I’ll help you eliminate all other informed parties.”
“That way, House Rupert can still thrive in this world. How about it?”
Adrian’s face changed unpredictably as he silently pondered intensely.
