Chapter 31: Please, Remember

Book:His Unwanted Bride (Married by Mistake) Published:2024-11-1

Adrian Lester stood in his night robe and stared at Alice with an icy gaze. Why was she looking around like someone who was about doing something sinful?
“Ms. Alice, you should know your place in this mansion and stick to your duties. I don’t like people who are supposed to be elders and yet, have no brain in their skull” Adrian bellowed.
He has thought her grey hair meant that she’s wise and reasonable. What the hell is she doing with these good for nothing poor scumbags?
“This is Mr Leon and his wife, Ava’s parents…” Alice was trying to explain when he interrupted her.
“Like I care who the fuck they are? They can be whoever’s parents, what do I care? Get out of my sight and don’t let me disrespect you in any way further”
Sam Leon and his wife exchanged glances. He had watched this boy grow before him and he had always been reserved and doesn’t interact with anyone.
But he didn’t expect that he would now become so ruthless and disrespectful. Isn’t Alice as old as his mother? If he talks to her this way, how does he treat his wife, his own daughter?
“Adrian Lester” Sam Leon called and the latter leisurely glanced at the old skinny Sam Leon in front of him disdainfully. He looked at him and looked past him to the wheelchair and then his cheap dressed wife.
“Show some respect to elders in your utterance. You can’t talk to Alice that way. She’d been here since you were a kid…” San was correcting him when Adrian yelled into his face.
“Who the hell are you to tell me what I should do and don’t do? Who the fuck do you think you are Sam Leon to teach me morals and manners? Who gave the effrontery to step your poverty stenched body into my mansion?
You know morals and you are as poor and wretched like a cursed man? How much has your morality helped you in life? Why can’t you turn that sense of morality and manners to money?
Why don’t you teach your daughter that morality and tell her the implication of murdering someone? Why do you think you can pest my life and that of my family by forcing your miserable daughter on me?
The next time your luck brings you before my face and you utter such words before me again, I will give you a hard kick that you’ll die faster than when a bullet is fired into your skinny skeletal skull” Adrian snorted.
For the first few seconds, Sam Leon was lost for words. Is this the son Richard Lester raised? Is this the boy that he gave his most treasured belonging to save?
This boy can pass for a son to him. How can he talk to him like that? He said he was poor and wretched? That’s true but he also worked hard, he wasn’t a lazy man all his life.
He tried to live above poverty and he was content with his wife and daughter. Why is he reminding him that his body was indeed skinny and skeletal, not merely his skull?
Sam felt as if tears would drop from his eyes but he held back himself. But Clara is not so patient like her husband. She lashed at Adrian, a boy who owed his life to them and more than that, they gave him their daughter in marriage?
How can he say Ava was forced on him to marry when it was his grandfather who pleaded with them that Ava was already 18 and she could now be married to Adrian.
“Watch your words, you little boy!” Clara yelled into his face. She was going to continue when Anna replied to her from behind.
“How dare you raise your voice on my high class son? How dare you, Clara? How dare you yell at my billionaire son?” Anna Lester bellowed, walking over to stand before Clara.
Clara shook her head. It’s certain that this boy got his manners from his rude mother. How can a woman raise her son this way?
“Is this how you raised your son, Anna? To disrespect people and talk down to his father in-law?” Clara asked.
Anna moved a step backwards and glared at Clara. She ensured her body didn’t get into contact with Clara’s and she chuckled aloud.
“Yes, this is how I raised my son. Tell me how you raised that miscreant you called a daughter that made her end up in jail now?
Since you raised your daughter well, she’d learn to commit murder and she has been jailed. So the one who should cover her face in shame here is you, Clara Leon” Anna scowled and burst into laughter.
“Where did you say my daughter is?” Sam Leon asked. He doesn’t mind any of the words Anna was uttering. What caught his attention was where she said his daughter was.
“She’s in jail for close to a week now. She attempted to murder my grandfather. If you taught your daughter how to be a proper woman, she probably wouldn’t have been wealth thirsty to try to murder grandfather” Adrian replied, a smirk plastered on his face.
“My daughter is in jail…she tried to murder your grandfather…wealth thirsty…” Sam Leon stuttered. Now his body was shaking.
“What! You sent my daughter to jail? She cannot do it, she cannot hurt anyone”Clara defended.
“Well the dagger used, has her fingerprints and we saw her do it with our eyes. My grandfather is lying on the hospital bed, fighting for his life, not sure if he will make it or not and this is no thanks to your daughter!” Adrian thundered.
“No Adrian, please I beg you. For the sake of the favour my wife and I have done for you, don’t do this. Reciprocate our kindness and don’t forget about the past.
Ava cannot hurt a flea. She’s too fragile, she can’t do it, please, Adrian, spare my daughter. Something is wrong somewhere. Please Adrian, help Ava and let her out…” Sam pleaded.
Now he was breathing hard. Adrian’s bodyguards surrounded them. Alice refused to leave but stood by the sidelines and watched. At this time, her tears were trickling uncontrollably down her cheeks.
Clara went on her knees and clasped her hands together begging Anna. She bowed her head to kiss her feet and Anna hissed loudly and turned around, going back into the mansion.
“Anna please, spare my daughter. She can’t do it. I swear on my life that Ava cannot hurt anyone. She can’t even kill an Ant, how can she hold a dagger. Please remember the past, Anna. Remember, please remember…” Sam pleaded, the sickly man now had tears in his eyes.
