“My baby!…” Nancy Blake blurted. Her eyes were moist and the tears were threatening to trickle down her cheeks. She was confused. What happened? Babies swapped?
Simon now also was on his feet and he went to hold his wife. Everyone knows what happened on that day to the last child of Simon and Nancy Blake.
Their baby was still born and Nancy had refuted it over the years that she felt as if her daughter was still alive when she birthed her.
But Simon has gotten the dead baby and gone to bury her. He tried to convince Nancy that she was indeed dead and had been buried. But hearing the breaking news, Nancy felt like she would fly over the ceiling and get to the hospital.
“Simon, could my daughter have been swapped? I heard her cry when she was born and later I was told it’s a stillbirth. Maybe that dead baby was not mine after all…” Nancy blurted.
“It’s alright, Nancy. We’ll get to the bottom of this. But I need you to stay calm. I’ll make my findings at once” Simon promised.
“No, I want to go to the hospital at once. Maybe my baby is still alive. Take me to the hospital” Nancy pleaded
“Mom, calm down. We’ll find out everything about my sister. But stay calm and leave this whole thing to dad and I. We’ll give you information per time” Santiago assured.
“Santiago…your sister…she might still be alive…Santiago please…” Nancy stuttered. She’s confused. She only wants to hear one sentence: that her daughter was still alive and the dead baby was not hers.
“I promise you Mom. In fact dad, sit back. This is something that Jimmy and I can handle. Right Jimmy?” Santiago asked, shifting his gaze on Jimmy.
“Yes. Before midnight, dad, Mom we’ll give you the answers that you seek. So you both stay calm and relax. We’ll bring you news of the situations of things” Jimmy assured.
Santiago Blake is the eldest son of Simon and Nancy Blake. A tall and well built muscular man who would have been a perfect fit for the military. But he chose to go into business and exportation. And he indeed had succeeded as he owned several companies and industries in X-city.
But Jimmy Blake, the second son had no interest in such, hence he continued with Blake’s ancestral place in the military. Now a lieutenant with good records of honesty, a perfect representation of Blake’s dynasty.
Nancy nodded. She is really worried but she’s going to try to feign calmness and await her son’s findings. Oh she hopes her daughter is still alive and safe.
“I trust you boys on this. Get to business already. I’m an impatient man” Simon baritone voice ordered. Having served in the military, he has low tolerance for sluggishness and that involves his dealings with his immediate family.
The dinner abruptly came to an end. Nancy and Simon were waiting for whatever news that their kids would bring them. Nancy insisted that her baby was alive before she was being taken to the nursery. She never had a stillborn back then.
Now, Simon decided to listen to her. He said he hoped the four babies swapped, one of them was their daughter. And he earnestly hopes that she’s still alive somewhere.
The boys didn’t return until the parents decided to go to bed. Nancy tried to stay awake, forcing herself to be sober but Simon told her to take some rest, he would wake her up when the boys returned.
They waited until the next morning. When Nancy woke up, she was surprised that her husband also slept off next to her. She sighed, he was supposed to wake her up when the boys arrived and now, she ended up waking up before him the next morning.
“Simon” she tapped him gently. The latter opened his eyes and smiled. He felt guilty. He should have been the one to wake her up and now, she wakes him up instead.
“Aren’t you supposed to wake me up when Santiago and Jimmy get back?” Nancy asked, teasingly gazing at him as he yawned and stretched himself.
“You knew how tired I was yesterday, right? And to know that I dreamt of seeing our daughter, a grown beautiful woman who looks like you a lot walked into this mansion” Simon changed the subject of discussion.
A smile plastered on Nancy’s face and her eyes went moist. Simon is another Joseph the dreamer. If he dreamt about anything, then it’s definitely going to happen exactly so.
“I think you should take a bath and be ready for the good news. I know it’s definitely going to be good news” Simon assured her. Never had he dreamt that it wouldn’t happen.
And this is his own daughter they’re talking about here. His daughter would return home to her family and be united with them forever.
Meanwhile in New Jersey, Sam Leon insisted that his wife bring him to the Lester mansion. When they got there, he was given an easy pass because he was a former employee in that mansion and almost everyone loved him.
But he looked way different from the Sam Leon they used to know. The happy, chubby man, always smiling and planting love in people’s lives was replaced by some skinny, old looking man.
He looked pale and weak as if he would drop down dead any moment. He was bedridden and very ill, suffering from heart disease. But seeing him in such a condition, all the employees crowded round about him.
The warm reception and love shown to Sam Leon at that moment was enough to speak for him. An average person meeting Sam Leon and his wife for the first time would definitely know that he was a great man even if he doesn’t have a penny to his name.
When Alice heard that Sam Leon was around, she stepped out quickly and bent over, hugging him. He came, thank goodness he came.
Maybe he would be able to plead with his son in-law to release Ava Leon, his wife. No one can talk to Adrian. His mother is the worst person to turn to for help.
“Thank goodness you came, Sam. How have you been?” Alice asked, stepping back to watch Sam Leon on his wheelchair. He looked really in a pathetic state.
“I’m doing fine, Alice. How are you doing too?” Sam answered, smiling broadly. He feels terrible pain in his body. He was supposed to stay on the bed all day but for his daughter’s sake, he forced himself out.
Alice nodded, her eyes clouded with tears. He said he’s fine. How can he say so when he literally looks like a dying man. His daughter is just like him. They learn to be happy whatever comes their way.
“Alice,” Sam called quietly. He held her hand weakly and said “Where’s my daughter?” He knew something was wrong.
Alice wanted to answer but looked around first and her eyes locked with him, and she shivered. She pulled her hand off and stepped aside.
The devil incarnate!
