Clara sighed softly and came back to her husband. “It appears Ava no longer lives in the Lester family. Anna said so” Clara informed. She cannot tell him that she equally added that her daughter is a criminal.
“Where else could she be? She’s not there and she’s not here either?” Sam demanded, feeling his heart was beating fast with great difficulty. He was feeling very weak now more than before.
“Calm down. It’s late now. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be at the Lester family and request to know where Ava has been to. Adrian Lester is her husband, he should be able to give a distinct explanation” Clara assured her husband.
“No, I’ll go with you. Even if I’m so sick, provided I’m still breathing, I’ll go with you” Sam insisted. They raised Ava with so much discipline and love and she wouldn’t leave her matrimonial home without telling someone where she’s headed.
“If you insist on that, Sam,” Clara shrugged. She doesn’t want him to go because Anna said something like being a criminal. She just hopes they’ve not gotten her to the police station.
Ava can never do anything that would warrant police involvement. Except if the divorce had successfully got through and Ava is yet to inform them that she’d moved out of the Lester family.
“Yes, I do insist. I raised my daughter well. She can’t leave her matrimonial home and not be here. Where else does she have to go other than coming home to her papa?” Sam stuttered.
That same evening, Adrian stopped by the hospital to check on his grandfather. There isn’t any change in him yet. The doctor said he’s an old man and that might make his recovery a bit slow.
He was still on life support and he stood by him. As he stared at him, he promised himself that Ava would pay for what she’d done to his grandfather.
Lola accompanied him and stood by his side. She glared at old man Lester with hatred. Why would he just die and ends the fuck? What is he still living for?
“The dagger didn’t cut his heart too deep, otherwise he would have been dead” Lola blurted without thinking.
Adrian paused and shifted his gaze on her “The dagger? Who told you it’s a dagger and didn’t cut through his heart well?”
Lola was momentarily rendered speechless. She took Adrian’s hand and said “You told me baby. You told me it’s a dagger and grandfather’s internal structure was cut through…” oh gosh, she would sell herself out now.
Adrian thought through. He can’t remember telling her anything like that. In fact he didn’t know if what was used to stab grandfather was a dagger or a table knife.
He was going to probe her further when Lola quickly added “How about you check for the fingerprints on the dagger?” She shifted his thoughts from what she had said to something else.
“Yes, that’s right” Adrian agreed and immediately called Clem “I want the forensic report before me immediately” why hadn’t he even requested it?
Seeing Adrian Lester had forgotten about what she said earlier, she sighed softly. She almost sold the truth out.
When Adrian left the hospital, he dropped Lola Carrero off at her apartment and went home. As he got into his study, Clem sent the report from the forensic department to him.
There was one fingerprint on the dagger. It’s actually a dagger like Lola said. He probably must have told her then, otherwise how would she have known.
The fingerprints on the dagger match Ava Leon’s. He doesn’t need anyone to tell him otherwise, he already knows that his supposed wife tried to kill grandfather.
Getting this report is just a formality. But thank goodness, she’s gone away from his life already. What the heck! He cannot express how much of excitement he’s getting for not having to see her face anywhere around the Lester mansion.
That night in X-city, the Blake family were having dinner when a breaking news popped up. The Blake family is one of the three prestigious families in that City.
Simon Blake had served as a military President of X-city and the Blake third generations before Simon had all been ex servicemen. Their reputation is held in high esteem and they are a respected family.
Nancy Blake was the first who got attracted to the breaking news. She paused in her meal and listened. “… we regret to announce to the entire public that something awful happened…”
“Mom, the food will get cold,” Jimmy cautioned. Why is Mom interested in the breakfast news when there will always be endless moments of breaking news?
“Wait Jimmy, they are talking about the Hilltop Hospital” Nancy Blake replied. She hadn’t stopped listening to news about that hospital. Many years have passed but that hospital will forever remain in her memory.
“… they’re all babies born on the 12th of June, 19xx…” Nancy squinted. She glanced at her husband and Simon now seemed to be interested in what the breaking news was all about.
Nancy’s eyes welled up with tears immediately. How can she forget that day? She has never stopped wishing that the day never existed when she heard the next line of words.
“… four babies born that day were swapped and we request that everyone who…” the presenter was still announcing, when Nancy sprang up on her feet.
