An unexpected sight greeted Mireya as the body of a guard floated in the air and then landed pitifully in front of her. The guard struggled briefly before falling silent, blood flowing from his open mouth, indicating a painful demise.
Mireya clenched her mouth tightly. At the same time, Greisy’s voice could be heard speaking to her.
“It seems that Alpha Usher has really gone crazy this time, Madam. What are we going to do now, madam?”
Mireya could not answer the question. Honestly, she had no contingency plan. She had thought that everything would return to normal after Usher had drunk the willow tea, but obviously not.
Both of Mireya’s hands clenched. Her emotions flared uncontrollably, unable to be contained. It had been an exhausting day and now Usher was disturbing her sleep.
Mireya continued walking. She walked fast and hurriedly. But soon her steps stopped again. This time it wasn’t because another guard’s body had landed in front of her, but because Usher was standing not far from her current position, staring at her sharply.
There was something different about Usher, a feeling Mireya could clearly sense. She stood still, as if her body dared not move. She froze, her eyes constantly meeting Usher’s questioning gaze. What was happening to him?
“Madam.”
Greisy’s shaky voice made Mireya blink. She realized that it wasn’t just Greisy who was trembling at that moment; she was experiencing the same thing. This caused her to calm down quickly. Usher was a useless Alpha. He had no power anymore. He was weakened by Willow’s tea he had consumed. So why be afraid?
Strangely enough, the more Mireya tried to calm herself down, the more agitated she became, as if her instincts were warning her of potential dangers that could happen at any moment. Still, she held on to the belief that Usher was now a pathetic Alpha, powerless, especially since he was alone without anyone else. What else was there to fear?
Mireya wanted to step forward again, but suddenly Usher was standing in front of her. They were separated by a short distance and she could feel the intense heat radiating from Usher’s body. It felt like a blazing fire, making the air around them feel piercing and causing a burning sensation all over her skin.
“Usher, what are you…”
“Who are they all, Mireya?” Usher interrupted Mireya’s words. His voice was heavy and intimidating. The same was true for his piercing gaze, as if he wanted to cut his opponent alive. “What were you doing in my palace? The Frostholm Pack Palace?”
Mireya’s unease grew. Usher’s question was a bad omen, and it managed to silence her, unsure of what to say. “U-Usher, I-”
“Answer me, Mireya!”
Mireya’s eyes closed. Usher’s growl stirred the air around her. Her body swayed, she took two steps back, and fortunately she managed to keep herself from collapsing.
Mireya tried to remain calm, but suddenly Usher advanced with his hand, aiming for her throat. She had no chance to dodge, and Usher began to choke her violently.
“Tell me, Mireya,” Usher growled terribly. His eyes seemed to burn with rage. “What have you done to me? To the Frostholm Pack?”
Mireya could not answer. Usher’s grip prevented her from saying a single word. She could not even breathe. Moreover, Usher lifted her body from the ground. She struggled to regain her footing, her legs kicking in an attempt to touch the ground again. She tried to free herself, but to no avail.
Usher’s face hardened. He looked at Mireya’s tortured expression without mercy. It was because his mind replayed all the events that had happened so far.
Usher clenched his mouth tightly as many memories swirled in his head. Nausea crept up and surged in his stomach, almost making him vomit.
The anger reflected in Usher’s eyes intensified with disgust. His voice quavered as he spoke again. “You set me up, Mireya.”
Mireya blinked. With her mouth open, she tried to breathe and Usher’s words made her smile. “I-I set you up?” she repeated Usher’s words with a stuttering and weak voice. “Is that what you think, Usher? I don’t think so. Don’t pretend, Usher. We are a loving couple.”
“You.”
“You haven’t forgotten, have you?” Mireya’s grin grew wider. She returned Usher’s gaze with a mocking look. “You were always willing to do anything for me, Usher.”
“You wicked woman!”
At the same time, Usher pushed Mireya away. She floated in the air and then her body slammed heavily into the wall. Mireya fell to the floor in a curled-up position, her chest feeling like it was about to explode.
“Madam!” Greisy approached Mireya immediately. She helped Mireya to her feet. “Are you okay?”
Mireya gritted her teeth. She could taste the bitterness in her mouth, a clear sign that she was injured. But she did not have time to dwell on the pain. “Contact Alpha Torin quickly, Greisy. Tell him that Usher can no longer be controlled. Tell him to attack Frostholm Pack Palace immediately, and while we wait for his arrival, I and the guards will try to stop him.”
Greisy’s eyes widened. Mireya’s decision was risky, but it was the most sensible one. Finally, she nodded. “Yes, Madam.”
Greisy hurried away. She realized the situation was dire. She had to act quickly before things got out of control.
Mireya made sure that Usher’s attention was back on her. When Usher looked in Greisy’s direction, she exclaimed, “Ah! You disappoint me, Usher. I never thought you would forget the love between us so easily. I thought you were different than most men. Turns out you’re just like them.”
“Love?” Usher growled, the veins on his forehead bulging. Sweat sprayed, making his face look even more ferocious. “You really are disgusting, Mireya. I never thought you would stoop so low. Tell me, did Torin send you here? Did he tell you to sacrifice your heart and body just for power?”
Mireya’s face changed instantly. Usher’s words hit her hard, as if her heart did not want to beat anymore. Her fists clenched in anger. “You bastard, Usher!”
