“…”
“I’ve been irritating you over and over again these days, do you think I’m being particularly unreasonable?”
Paige smiled to herself, his figure having become a blur in her gaze.
But she just wanted him to touch, to hate her or to blame her, as long as he would use the medicine in a fit of anger …
But he didn’t.
He persisted in a way that emboldened her, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Enrico stood in front of the car door, his eyes lowered to the more than ironic curve of her lips, his heart felt like it was being cut with a knife, it hurt, “I didn’t think of it that way, I know you love me.”
“Know?” Paige laughed audibly, as if she had heard a great joke, laughed so hard that she laughed so hard that a tear slipped from her eye.
Suddenly, she blushed and sat up straight from the driver’s seat, glaring at him in near hatred, “You don’t know! You’ve never been one to get in or out when you wanted to! What do you take me for, Paige? A plaything to beckon and call?”
“…”
Enrico was powerless to fight against such a Paige.
“Enrico, I’m telling you, you can leave if you want, this game, I, Paige, am done!”
She raised the ring in her hand, then without any hesitation, she slammed the ring in her hand towards him.
The ring arced through the air and flashed with light.
Enrico stood as stiff as petrified, unable to move as he watched her throw the ring without attachment, it sliced past his ear and flew past.
She threw it just like that!
She just threw away the ring he’d designed with his own hands!
“Paige!” yelled out Enrico in a very angry low voice as he too became thoroughly annoyed and glared at her with his hands pressed on the passenger door, “I want to be with you for the rest of your life, but I don’t have the means! I just have AS schizophrenia gene, what can I do?”
His eyes were as red as they were drenched in blood.
He, Enrico, had never submitted to anyone, except for the AS schizophrenia gene.
He also knew that she was forcing him, but so what, he couldn’t be soft, he had been tormented by AS schizophrenia gene all his life, did he want their son to be tormented again?
In the distance, the crowd was still studying the many luxury cars and didn’t notice the mood of the two over here was off.
Paige listened, yes, he had no choice.
It’s all human, who wouldn’t want to live, he just didn’t have a choice.
But he didn’t understand, and she had no choice, no way to just watch him die in front of her.
Without saying anything else, she slowly turned back around and leaned back in her chair, quietly looking ahead and closing her eyes.
“Don’t throw it away.” Enrico said, taking a step back.
Paige opened her eyes and looked ahead, the bright light falling on her eyes, her long eyelashes flicking like butterfly wings.
As she looked out, the wall in the distance was gradually twisting, turning into a wave and then into a myriad of white lights, vaguely revealing a path to lead people through.
Paige lifted her hand and pressed her forehead, then lifted her eyes again, and those waves changed again, a circle of black, black light fluctuating, like the bloody mouth of a giant beast, fangs like a door was devouring everything …
“…”
Paige watched in stunned silence while one hand ghosted over the start button.
Enrico, you are so persistent, can you understand the feeling of the life of the person you like passing a little bit in front of you, can you know the cone of pain?
Enrico turned around and bent down to pick up the diamond ring on the ground.
The sound of a sports car’s engine suddenly came from behind him.
“…”
His pupils clenched abruptly, and the screams of bystanders came to his ears.
“Sister Paige-” Nick and Carrie’s group of people jumped over in panic.
Everything was in slow motion like in a movie, and Enrico could even hear the group’s fearful, garbled breaths, one above the other, stinging his eardrums in the night.
Everyone looked behind him in horror.
He turned his head with a ghastly white face to see the sports car in the white light rushing out like a bolt from the blue, Paige sitting in it, one hand casually leaning against the door to support her face, one hand on the steering wheel as if she were just casually driving for a ride.
But in the distance, directly across from her, was the wall.
Enrico rushes over to it without a second thought.
“…”
So loud.
Paige held the steering wheel in one hand, only to feel an extraordinary amount of voices streaking around her; they seemed to be shouting her name, so fearful and terrified.
“Master, you’re speeding! You’re not wearing your seatbelt! You stop!” Algo shouted out shrilly.
Stop the noise.
She wanted to be quiet.
She raised her hand to the screen and slapped it haphazardly as it went dark.
She stared ahead with misty eyes, straining in her delicate heels to step down, stepping on something she wasn’t quite sure what.
Everything in front of her eyes was distorted.
Trees dazzled.
Stars distorted in the distance.
She didn’t realize she’d driven the car askew, only that there was a cloud of white light waiting for her in the distance.
Paige propped her face in silence with her hands and peered forward, and in that light she saw her past, time and again, hiding in the little room of the the Clarkes family, watching the Clarkes have a big birthday for Molly, time and time again, dodging poisonous creatures in the woods of Wind Island… …
She sees herself falling off the upstairs swing and into Enrico’s arms.
She saw Enrico walking up to her, covered in wreckage and blood, in front of Gangnam Hall, and kneeling down.
She sees her lying on an operating table as the doctor walks up to her holding a tiny ball of Gabriel.
She saw Enrico, who had lost his memory, hiding in a cardboard box in the rain, and she went over to him with her umbrella and met his eyes as if she were seeing the teenager she had been when she was nine years old.
She saw Enrico with a broken shoulder bone carrying her all the way out of the snowy mountains.
There was everything in that white light.
There was everything and anything she couldn’t let go of.
Wasn’t it possible to go in there and live forever without ever having to come back out.
She wanted to go.
Go to the place where there was Enrico, where there was Gabriel.
With that thought, a smile floated in Paige’s eyes, and her foot stepped down again as the wind steepened around her, the white light close at hand.
“Paige, stop!”
“Paige, come to your senses!”
“I’m wrong Paige, I know I’m wrong!”
A voice so terrified that it broke the sound came, faintly, seemingly from a great distance.
It was so loud.
Paige’s head hurt from the noise, and she patted herself on the head.
The white light was getting closer.
It was bright and blinding.
She lowered her eyes, then looked up and forward again as a hazy, tall figure appeared in the white light.
She watched in a daze, beating the steering wheel ever forward, and gradually the figure became a little clearer in the white light.
Then she saw Enrico.
He stood there with his arms open, not moving, a handsome face white with light, a pair of fishy red eyes looking at her in near despair.
It was as if he was saying, Don’t.
Don’t, Paige.
“…”
Paige’s long eyelashes quivered as she looked at the figure that was becoming fully defined in front of her, and before she realized what she was doing, one foot went dead center on the brake.
