The white gambler smiled, feeling an eighty percent chance of winning.
Leo smiled and said, “Ten thousand dollars.”
Digger pushed forward ten thousand dollars in chips, but sweat was forming on his forehead.
The dealer looked at his hole cards and thought for a moment. “Call.”
The white gambler sneered, “Alright, I’ll call. Let’s see how you die.”
As the dealer was about to deal the fifth card, Leo’s powerful mind invaded, swiftly passing through the dealer’s card shuffler.
The dealer dealt the cards. Leo received a 6, the dealer got a 7, and the white gambler got a 9.
Thus, Leo’s hand showed 6, 7, 9, and 10.
The dealer had three 7s and an 8.
The white gambler had three 6s and a 9.
“Speak,” the dealer said.
The white gambler looked at his hole card with anticipation and said, “Ten thousand dollars.”
“I don’t believe you have four sixes,” the dealer said, looking at the white gambler and then at Leo. “I also don’t believe you have a straight. I call, ten thousand dollars.”
Leo’s mind scanned the hole cards of both the dealer and the white gambler, revealing a J and a K respectively. He couldn’t help but laugh. “I call, ten thousand dollars, and raise another ten thousand dollars.”
Digger’s hands trembled as he pushed forward twenty thousand dollars. This round’s stakes were huge.
The dealer and the white gambler’s faces changed. Could this Atrarian really have a straight?
The white gambler smiled bitterly. “You win. I’m out.”
He revealed his cards and left with nothing.
“Alright, I’ll take a chance with you. I call,” the dealer said through gritted teeth.
Leo smiled and gently flipped his hole card. The onlookers gasped in surprise.
It was indeed a straight!
The dealer deflated like a punctured balloon, staring at Leo’s hand for a moment before leaving with a bitter smile.
“This is yours, my friend,” Leo said, tossing a thousand-dollar chip to Digger.
“Thank you so much, sir! I knew you would win,” Digger exclaimed joyfully, feeling that God was on his side tonight.
After playing a few more games and winning big, Leo decided to quit while he was ahead.
At that moment, the original roulette dealer stepped aside respectfully as a new dealer took his place at the table.
“Why not play a few more rounds?” the new dealer suddenly said to Leo.
To Leo’s surprise, this new dealer had yellow skin and black eyes, speaking fluent Mheffada, suggesting he was Atrarian.
“Atrarian?” Leo asked with interest.
“Atrarian, Carson,” the dealer replied coolly.
A strange aura emanated from him, creating an invisible pressure.
Leo’s pupils contracted. This guy was an Esper!
Not wanting trouble while out for fun, Leo smiled. “I’ve won enough; it’s time to stop.”
“Maybe you can win more. How will you know if you don’t try?” Carson’s smile was encouraging but his words carried hidden barbs. “Or do you lack confidence?”
A provocation!
Leo sneered. “Alright, I’ll play two rounds with you.”
“It would be an honor,” Carson said with a cold smile.
“Sir, your money has been exchanged. A total of four million dollars,” Digger said as he squeezed through the crowd, sweating profusely.
“You’ve won quite a bit. Dare to bet it all in one go?” Carson suddenly asked.
“Four million dollars? Are you sure?” Leo’s eyes sharpened.
“Your principal is just a small amount. Losing it is nothing. But if you win, it doubles. What an opportunity,” Carson’s voice grew more persuasive.
“Fine, I’ll bet it all on 12,” Leo said boldly.
Digger’s mouth dropped open in shock.
The surrounding gamblers were also in an uproar. Four million dollars was an absolute high-stakes bet!
“Very good,” Carson’s eyes lit up as he scanned the crowd. “Anyone else wants to join?”
The gamblers sensed something was off and shook their heads; no one dared to join.
“Place your bets, friends. Let’s see your luck,” Carson said as he rang the bell and started the roulette wheel.
The red ball spun rapidly. After five seconds, its momentum faded and it began to slow down.
Leo’s sharp eyes fixed on the spinning red ball, his powerful mind calculating each rotation’s speed and remaining force precisely.
Slowly, the ball’s momentum waned and its speed approached a halt.
Leo predicted the ball would stop between 9 and 11, which meant he would lose.
So he used his mind to nudge the ball towards 12.
Carson noticed something amiss and his face changed color.
Leo suddenly sensed an invisible force pressing the ball towards 10.
To Leo, Carson’s Esper abilities were mere child’s play.
Leo’s powerful mind surged like a tidal wave. The ball hesitated at 10 before slowly rolling to 12 and stopping.
“Jackpot!”
The onlookers erupted in cheers.
“My God, it’s a miracle,” Digger laughed wildly, hugging everyone around him as if he had won himself.
Carson looked at Leo as if seeing a ghost before coughing up blood and staggering to support himself on the table.
“Gambling until you cough blood? How rare. Want another round?” Leo asked with a cold smile.
“Sir, you are truly skilled. We at El Dorado Casino concede,” Carson steadied himself with a dejected look.
“Then please give me my check; I’m leaving,” Leo said calmly as he stood up.
Under everyone’s gaze, El Dorado Casino, a world-renowned establishment, would never renege on its debts.
With the check in hand, just as Leo was about to leave, someone called out to him.
Leo turned around to see a burly man approaching him.
The man wore a black suit and held a cigar, looking like a wealthy boss.
“Is there something you need?” Leo asked with a frown.
The man smiled and said, “Sir, I’m Charles, the owner of this casino. May I buy you a drink?”
“A drink? Are you saying I can’t leave after winning money here?” Leo replied coolly.
Charles’ expression changed slightly before he quickly said, “Sir, please don’t misunderstand. Our casino is not only famous in Las Vegas but also worldwide; our reputation is impeccable.”
For a casino to operate successfully, besides having enough profit to sustain normal operations, reputation was crucial.
A casino without credibility wouldn’t attract gamblers.
Seeing that Leo remained unmoved, Charles added earnestly, “Sir, I sincerely wish to befriend you.”
“Alright, but I don’t have much time,” Leo agreed, curious about what Charles wanted.
Charles seemed relieved and gestured invitingly. “Sir, please follow me.”
