Rezso’s POV
My hands shook terribly as I entered His Majesty’s office. A sense of relief washed over me when I walked deeper into the office and no one was in sight, not even the King himself.
I shouldn’t be seen in this place when His Majesty was not here, but I couldn’t just go back without delivering Her Highness’s letter.
Everyone in the Villa was conscious of the beef between the King and the Queen and the only thing I could do to help her Highness was to help deliver whatever she wrote in the letter.
I held on tightly to the letter as I made my way to the office table, I carefully dropped the letter on top of the piles of files that lay carelessly on the table. I turned around to walk out of the office, but then, I felt a presence outside of the office.
Was that his Majesty? I felt my jaw dropped in shock as I glared hard at the door.
I made to hide under the table, but it was too late because the door twisted open before I could bend over to hide. I moved my gaze to the door, I was in a state of panic until a figure I knew so well entered the office.
His scent in the air made my wolf stir, making a healthy growl which made me let out a dry chuckle. It was no surprise, my wolf admired him as much as I did.
“Who’s there?” his hoarse voice barked, his commanding yells echoed through the room and I couldn’t help but feel my heart hammered against my chest as he spoke.
Yeah, that’s how much I adored the best warrior in the nation. His authoritative act over the rest of the warriors was what made me adore him the most.
“Hi… Um, I mean, I am the one in here.” I chuckled weirdly as I walked out to the inner office.
There stood Dixon, the best warrior and probably his Majesty’s favourite warrior, standing in the middle of the room with his dark gaze on me.
Even his posture alone could drive his opponent to wet his pants in fear.
“You?” he spoke rather in a low voice, he pointed his index finger at me, while trying to get a clear view of my face.
The moonlight shone through the window, filling the dark office with its shining bright light.
“Yes, the guard back there at Blue Moon Pack.” I smiled, completing his statement for him.
It won’t be surprising if a guy like him didn’t remember me, because I haven’t been able to strike up a conversation with him before, I was only able to get closer to him during our visit to the Queen’s pack and it was no surprising he didn’t know who the fuck I was that time.
Unlike him, I wasn’t popular at all.
“Oh, you’re that guy.” I sensed a bit of relief in his tone as he let out a deep breath. I didn’t know who he thought was inside His Majesty’s office, but whoever he thought, I knew he had planned on attacking whoever it was. But seeing it was me, and probably I wasn’t the type to cause trouble, he had to release a deep breath to show he was worried for nothing.
“Yes, the guy who helped you with the task the other day at the Queen’s pack.” I bit my lip nervously, I didn’t know what else to say to him and I was getting worried he might walk out on me without even spending the next minute with me.
“Great! You did a great job back there, what’s your name?” he asked, his eyes burning into mine as he had his gaze fixed on me.
“Rezso, I’m one of the Villa guards and I’m currently her Highness guard. She didn’t choose me but I think of myself as her guard.” I grinned, my lips were trembling as I spoke. I didn’t know why I was getting all anxious around him, but I couldn’t help but feel that way.
I had been waiting for the day I would be having a chat with the best warrior in the nation, someone who also happened to be my role model and it was no surprise I was feeling this way when I was finally having a conversation with him, in a place like this.
“Rezso,” he tilted his head before shrugging off his shoulders. “You have a great name, Rezso. Rezso is one fine name I like.” his lips curved in a smile and I wished I could just die right now so I could remember this moment forever.
Not only was I having a conversation with my favourite warrior, but he also said he loved my name. If I was to be a girl, I would jump on him and perhaps smack my lips on his. That’s how I felt right now and I couldn’t help my heart that was beating loudly against my chest.
“Thank you. Thank you! Thank you!” I cried out, my hands shook as I stretched my hand to touch his palm. I grabbed his palm and I felt my hands slide down from his as soon as my hand touched the rough skin on his palm.
Dixon smiled, stretching out his palm for me to shake. “I guess you want a handshake.”
I nodded my head like a toad. I was already dumbfounded that the only thing I could do was to move my head.
“Here.” Dixon chuckled, raising his palm for me to see.
“Ahh,” I hastily wiped my palm on my trousers before moving my hand to receive the handshake. It felt like I had just touched a naked wire, I felt a spark in my heart and my entire body shook as my palm met his in a handshake.
The feeling was bliss and I couldn’t help but withdraw my palm from his. I feared I might end up dying for real if I didn’t let go of his palm.
“So, Rezso,” Dixon called, sliding his hand back into his pant pocket. “Why are you here when His Majesty was not in his office?” he asked, I felt my heart beating loudly like a drum when he asked that question.
For a second, I had almost forgotten why I was in His Majesty’s office. Being up close to Dixon, alone at such an hour made my heart lept with joy that I didn’t remember if I was in there for a purpose or not.
“Ahh,” I gulped, hitching my nape before clearing my throat to speak. “Her Highness sent me to deliver a letter to His Majesty,” I confessed, There’s no reason for me to lie since I didn’t come to do anything bad, right?
“Letter?” His brows knitted in confusion while glaring at my hands, “Where is the letter?” Dixon asked, smirking down at me.
“Letter?” I groaned, trying to remember the fuck I did with the letter. Being with Dixon had scrapped my brain and it was so hard to remember anything.
“Yes, letter!” The corner of his lips curved into a smirk, he moved his eyes to the inner part of the office and that seemed to remind me where the letter was.
“Oh, yeah, it’s right there on His Majesty’s table. I left it for him there.” I smiled, letting out a drag of air I had been holding back since.
“Good!” Dixon mumbled, taking his eyes off of me. “Leave if you’re done, I will relay your visit to His Majesty,” he uttered, his tone was a bit cold which sent a chill down my spine.
“Yes, Warrior!” I mumbled, not believing he was discharging me already.
Dixon walked past me, his arm bumping against my shoulder, I felt that spark again as our body touched.
“Ahn, Warrior,” I called out to him before he could make his way to the inner office. I spun on my heels, turning to see Dixon had already came to an abrupt halt. His brows arched as he glared at me.
“Yes, want anything?” he groaned, I gulped down nervously before opening my mouth to talk.
I didn’t know if what I was about to say would make any sense but I hoped to the moon that Dixon would agree with me.
“Do you have a few minutes to spare, can we grab a drink at the town pub? It’s the day of…”
“No. I’m hella busy, royal guard Rezso!” Dixon cut me off, his tone was a bit sharp and I knew I had just passed my lane.
“Go alone for tonight, or perhaps you go with other royal guards. I would make it up to you some other time.” he waved his hand in the air before walking farther into the office.
‘I would make it up to you some other time’
His words kept ringing in my head and I felt my jaw dropped in surprise.
Was that a good response? I felt my wolf stir in joy. I punched my fist in the air before walking out of the office.
I didn’t just have a conversation with my role model, he also agreed to have a drink with me. I blessed her Highness for sending me here to his Majesty’s office.
“Thank you, Your Highness!” I howled, my cheerful howls echoed through the empty hallway as I raced out of the building.
