Nova’s POV
“Your Highness!” Hart, the little boy cleared his throat and I was forced to move my gaze away from Prescott. Dropping my gaze at whoever was calling me.
“Oh, you?” I chuckled, seeing the little boy on Prescott’s seat, wondering what he needed from me.
“The King left, right?” he arched his brows, clamping his palms together.
“Oh… Yeah?” I knitted my brows before sitting back down in the chair, staring at the boy who kept staring and grinning at Prescott’s drink.
“Wanna drink that?” I asked, pointing at the untouched drink in front of him.
He shook his head, resting his head on the table. “No. I don’t want coffee, as it is, I’m tired of it.” he groaned, brushing his chin on the plastic table and I chuckled dryly.
“Was that because you drink that every day?” I lowered my face and placed my chin on the table, staring into the little boy’s eyes.
“Your Highness…”
“Wait, how did you know?” I groaned, cutting him off from whatever he was about to say. He moved his chin off the table and stared into my eyes with his eyebrows furrowed.
“Know what?” he mumbled, propping his elbows on the table.
“About us,” I pointed to myself, and to the direction Prescott went. “How did you know about us being royals?” I was dying to know, although, everyone knew about the Lycan King, but it will take you a visit to the royal Villa for you to know what his Majesty looks like.
It took me a visit to the royal villa when I was six to know what the former King looked like. So, how could a little boy who wasn’t born into a wealthy or leaders family know about his Majesty and I?
“There’s not much to tell.” he shrugged off his shoulders, staring at the snack in front of me. “You both gave out a matching light aura that it would be a waste if you two were an ordinary couple,” he whined, plunging his head back on the table.
“Great!” I pressed my lips into a thin line, trying so hard to not blush at what he said.
How can a kid get blessed with such a sight? He sure knew what he felt.
“So, why did he leave? Did he dump you?!” Hart suddenly asked, banging his fist on the table which made an ear blasting noise.
What? Why would he think of absurd things like that?
“Ahem, well, not exactly!” I chuckled, tossing a strand of hair off my face. “We are actually married, and no, he didn’t dump me. He left to check something outside.” I smirked, biting my lower lip when I realised what I had just said.
Did I seriously confess that I was married to him? Why the hell did I say that?
“Oh, sorry.” Hart grinned, moving his palms to his mouth, pressing them gently to stop himself from laughing out loud.
“Is that him? Oh, my goddess, he has a car!”Hart gasped, I stared at him, wondering what he was talking about.
“Huh?” I moved my gaze away from him, staring outside to see the car parked at the front of the building with the royal driver stepping down from the car.
“Why is he back so soon?!” I groaned, not taking my eyes off him as he strolled into the coffeehouse with his restless gaze on me.
It didn’t take him a second before he spotted me in the shop, my table was the only set that was occupied in the shop. He moved closer and stopped right by my table.
“Your Highness!” he bowed to me, moving his gaze from Hart and back to me.
“Why are you here so soon? We’re not done here yet.” I said to him, staring from my remaining coffee to my almost untouched snack, and Prescott’s seat that the little boy had occupied.
“We need to leave!” he blurted out, staring at me with a gaze that told me something was wrong with him, or maybe not him.
“I can’t!” I argued, picking up my drink and gulping down the remaining drop, cooling my throat with a wild smile spread across my face.
“What?” the royal driver mumbled, his fist clenched to his sides as he gave me that uncertain stare.
“His Majesty just stepped outside and I can’t leave here without him.” I dropped my cup on the table, picking up my snack while giving Hart a soft glare as he kept chuckling at what I was saying.
“Oh, shit!” the royal driver leaned forward, moving his mouth to my ear, “the pack is under attack and I got an order from his Majesty to escort you back to the palace. He already left!” he groaned into my ear and I didn’t know when I dropped the snack to the floor.
“What the fuck did you just say?” I howled, my legs shaking terribly as I got up to my feet, “I dare you to repeat what you just said.” Tears shimmered in my eyes as I moved my slippery gaze to meet his.
“We need to leave…” he was trying to urge me to leave, but hearing what he said was happening at the pack made me want to be anywhere but at the palace.
I tossed off the chair and scampered out of the shop, I got to the parked car and tried opening the door, but my hands were trembling and I couldn’t get the door.
“Please calm down, Your Highness.” the royal driver said, opening the door for me, I rushed to the backseat, moving my teary-eyed to face him.
“Please get me out of here, take me to the palace, please.” I sobbed, tears streaming down my eyes and I tried to wipe it with my shirt.
“Yes, Your Highness.” he bowed before shutting the door, then walked over to the driver’s side.
I gripped my head in my palms, letting my tears drop to my thighs, ruining my pants with my tears as I couldn’t think straight at the moment.
The car started moving and I couldn’t bring myself to lift my face as the driver drove me back to the palace.
What the hell was going on in there? Why the hell would the rogue choose to invade the pack on a fine afternoon like this? Just this morning, everything was fine, and everyone was moving about happily. Just why would they rain war on us on a day when everyone was happy?
The car drove into the palace gate and I slowly raised my head to see everyone in their wolf form, sprinting and charging at the pack of wolves I had never seen before.
They were of any colours, but there was a blue glow around their neck and it dawned on me what they were.
“We can’t go any further, His Majesty asked me to tell you to seek refuge in his apartment, since it would be the only safe place for you. Please find your way to his apartment before any of the rogues notice you.” the royal driver mumbled, staring out of the window to see a rogue Wolf charging toward the car.
“I will take him, get out of the car as soon as I stepped out. Don’t look back until you get to the apartment.” he howled, gripping the handle of the car and I wrapped my hands around my chest, gulping down nothing as the driver passed the order to me.
With a last glance at me, he opened the door and landed on his fours, followed by the cracking sounds of his bones.
I lifted my hand to the handle, my hands shook as I pushed open the door. Landing on my feet with my gaze everywhere, I couldn’t run as I was too scared the rogues would notice me if I made a sound.
I clutched tight onto my shirt as I trailed quietly towards the apartment that was given to His Majesty. I shut tight my lids as I heard agony cries of my species in my head, I could hear their bones snapping and I gulped down the sudden lump that formed in my throat.
Suddenly, I felt a burning gaze on me and I flung my eyes open, only to meet with a pair of blue eyes of a giant wolf, staring at me. I gasped, taking a step backwards as the wolf ran towards me at a fast speed. I shut my eyes, taking steps backwards with my heart thumping hard against my chest.
The wolf let out a fierce howl and I squeezed my eyes shut as fear scrambled over me. A deadly howl at my face was what it took me to let out a throes scream.
Just then, I felt someone, or something pushed me down to the floor, and I fell on my side, letting out an agony scream as my head collided with a sharp object.
