Nova’s pov
“I will be leaving first,” Tamsyn groaned, pushing her seat back as she stood up from the seat. Mom arched her brows as she dropped her spoonful of rice back onto the plate.
“Is anything the matter with your sister?” Mom questioned, watching Tamsyn walk out of us after giving me a weird smirk.
“Why do you ask that?” I threw back a question to Mom, she picked up a glass of water and took a light sip.
“She has been staring at her food since she got here, she didn’t even touch her drink. It’s so unlike your sister to abandon her breakfast of cake and milk.” she shrugged, taking out a napkin and wiping her lips.
“Right,” I nodded, making sense of what she had just said, Tamsyn could literally kill for a breakfast of cake and milk, and now that it was served, she was not eating it. That didn’t make sense, right?
“Do you think something is bothering her?” I raised a question, picking up my glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, and gulping down a large quantity before dropping my fork in my almost empty plate of pasta.
“How would I know if something was on her mind? She hardly talks to me about her personal life. If anyone should know, that should be you, she tells you anything.” Mom sighed, tapping her fingers on the glass cup as she awaited my reply.
“Honestly,” I sighed, withdrawing my hands from the table. “I do not know what was going on with her.” I added, standing up to my feet, “Regardless, I will go and talk to her.”
“Okay, thanks for being a considerate sister.” I heard Mom whining as I walked away from the family breakfast of just Mom and me.
Dad filled in busy, that he wouldn’t be joining us for breakfast. Something he hasn’t done before. And now, Tamsyn abandoned us during breakfast, making it seems weird to be having breakfast alone with Mom.
I hasten my footsteps as I walked out of our building, hoping to get to Tamsyn before she was completely out of sight. Fortunately, I saw her walking up to a group of maids, she was slowing down her pace as if she has been expecting me to run after her.
The corner of my lips tugged into a quick smile as I hurried towards her, she was now standing in front of the maids, who seemed to be receiving orders from her.
“Tam,” I smiled, stopping when I finally got to her, she turned her gaze to look at me, her cold stare asking ‘what the fuck are you doing here’ before she slowly turned her gaze away from me as if she never heard me call her name.
“Tam, I’m calling…”
“You two can go. You, come with me.” She cut me off, walking away with a maid after she had dismissed the other two, ignoring me entirely as she walked away from me.
“What the hell just happened?!” I gasped, taking a step backwards as I stared at the back of her head until she was completely out of sight.
“Did Tamsyn just ignore me? Did she just act like I was invisible to her?” my jaw dropped as I turned my gaze to see if anyone was passing.
Luckily, a maid was passing and I waved for her to come closer to me.
“Can you see me?” I questioned, making sure I hadn’t gone invisible.
The maid chuckled lightly, her lips pouted as she gave a curt nod. “Of course, I can see you, my Princess.” she moved her palm to her mouth, stopping herself from laughing out loud.
“You may leave.” I groaned, she was the only one who found the situation funny, I didn’t think anything was funny about my sister ignoring me like we were sworn enemies.
Just yesterday, she was with me when I got back from visiting the two with his Majesty. She was still in my room until his Majesty came…
“Wait, the kiss!” I gasped, moving my palms to my mouth as I recollect what happened in my room yesterday.
“His Majesty fucking kissed me when I was having a conversation with my sister.” I groaned, slapping my cheeks before crying out.
“Ouch, it hurts.” I cried, caressing my cheeks as the realisation dawned on me.
Tamsyn was asking if anything was going on between me and his Majesty, and his Majesty had to enter that moment and kissed me out of the blue.
“Great!” I hissed, biting my lower lips, wondering what my sister must be thinking right now.
“Did she think that I was hiding my relationship with his Majesty? Oh, my gracious goddess!” I cried out, moving my gaze to see if I could see her anywhere.
“How low has she thought of me? Thinking I am now in love with his Majesty, that can never happen. Gosh!” I mumbled, turning on my feet to head back inside when I bumped into someone who seemed to have been at my back since forever.
“Boo!” Shayna yelled and I jumped back in fright.
“Oh, nice of you to scare me, Shayna!” I yelled, planting my palms on my chest, feeling my heart beating at such a fast pace.
“Why?” she chuckled, handing me a box of chocolates. “How can you not know I have been standing here for a while now? Didn’t you perceive my scent or was it hidden again?” she asked, putting her nose up, trying to check if she could perceive her scent in the air.
“Oh, great. I wasn’t paying attention to my surrounding.” I mumbled, taking out a wrap of chocolate, unwrapping it and shoving it into my mouth.
“That’s new.” Shayna chuckled wildly, taking the box from me as I slowly munch on the chocolate in my mouth.
“What are you up to?” I asked, hitching the upper part of my head, staring at Shayna who shrugged off her shoulders as if she didn’t know exactly what she was up to.
“I was on my way to your room before I met you here,” she pressed her lips into a thin line as she stared at me with a look I couldn’t read.
“What’s the issue?” I asked, taking another chocolate wrap from the box.
“When do you plan to go back to the royal villa?” she questioned, her brows knitted as she pierced her gaze to my eyes.
“Um,” I groaned, looking away from her before dropping the chocolate back into the box. The question came unexpected and I had suddenly lost my interest in the chocolate.
“Just thinking about it, I wasn’t planning on going back to the royal villa.” I blurted out truthfully, all that I had wanted was to bring the files to his Majesty so he could help my people. But being back to the pack I had known as my only home didn’t make me think of where I had come from. I felt welcomed here, and I didn’t want to leave anytime soon.
“I don’t know…”
“Your Majesty.” I heard voices, gasping ‘Your Majesty’ at the other side.
I trailed off, moving my gaze to where the voices were coming from only to see some maids, greeting his Majesty as he strolled towards a parked car.
I felt my lips tugged into a smile as I watched him walk towards the car with his cold gaze fixed on a piece of paper.
Suddenly, I remembered what he said to me before exiting my room the previous day.
‘The guy isn’t just any guy, he was one of the rogues.’ my face heated up in an appreciative smile, I didn’t know the guy was a rogue and I had foolishly judged his Majesty for killing the guy.
If not because of his Majesty, I would have been dead in the hands of the rogue whom I thought was only angry because of his jacket that I had muddied with my ice cream.
“Wait here, Shayna, I will be back,” I told her, rushing towards the parked car before his Majesty would enter inside.
The smile on my face kept growing as I rushed up to the car the moment his Majesty entered. I knocked on the window, panting heavily, hoping he would roll down the glass.
“I would just apologise for yelling at him, and thank him for rescuing me from the rogue.” I chanted, stepping back from the car while panting heavily to steady my heartbeat after running for a few seconds.
I was waiting for the window to roll down, Instead, I watched the door open and his Majesty stepped down from the car. Pulling up a quizzical look as he stared at me.
“My Queen?” he gasped, seeing how I was panting with my parted mouth.
“Are you going somewhere?” I asked, moving my gaze away from him, suddenly feeling shy to look at his face, recalling what he did to me the previous day.
“Oh, yes.” he smiled, moving his hand to my head, gently caressing my hair and I felt like a pet before him.
“Oh,” I gulped, biting on my bottom lip as I couldn’t bring myself to say what I had practised to say to him.
His Majesty retrieved his hand from my head, he sneaked two fingers under my jaw and he raised my face to stare into his face.
“Do you want to come with me?” he asked, his lips curved into a charming smile and I felt myself nodding to what he said, with my lips stretching in a wild smile.
