Nova’s pov
After the awkward breakfast with the Lycan King. I returned to my room, sitting on the edge of my soft bed with a book in my hands, a knock came on the door and I moved my gaze off the book.
“Yes, who’s that?” I asked, my brows raised as I stared at the door, watching it creep open with a head popping inside.
“Princess?” the voice called before entering my room fully.
“Hey,” I smiled, recollecting she was one of the maids from the dining room earlier. “Sorry for yelling at you. I wasn’t in my right sense at that time.” I uttered, giving her an apologetic look.
“That’s not a problem, Princess.” she let out a nervous smile, fondling her fingers.
“Why are you here?” I asked, closing the book in my hands before dropping it beside me on the bed.
She seemed to have collected herself as I asked that question, she adjusted her posture and inhaled before speaking.
“His Majesty, the King had asked me to call for you. He is currently at the front of the building, waiting in the car that would be taking him to the town,” she announced, her hands intertwined to the front with her head bowed.
“Oh, shit!” I gasped, rolling out of bed before rushing up to my closet.
I had forgotten about what he said to me during breakfast. He had told me that I would be showing him around the pack but I wasn’t paying much attention to him, now I regretted not paying attention when the mighty Lycan King was talking to me.
“Tell him, I will be with him in 5!” I yelled out to the maid, she gave a curt nod before dashing out of my room.
I ruffled through the closet, throwing out some dresses before settling down with a black backless jumpsuit and black heels. I hastily stripped and slid into the dress I had picked out.
I grabbed my black purse and rushed out of my room. I had already done my makeup and styled my hair before heading for breakfast, so I didn’t have to do it again.
I rushed down the staircase and didn’t meet either of my family in the living room. I walked outside to meet a familiar black car at the front of our building.
“Good morning, your Highness!” Rezso greeted, stepping down from the passenger seat.
I smiled, moving a strand of hair behind my ear. “It’s good to see you again, Rez. Did you sleep well?”
“Of course, I did enjoy my night. Only the annoying bell made me want to curse the minute I said I would escort your Highness here.” he groaned and I held my stomach, laughing at the face he made after saying that.
“You should have blocked your sense from hearing the jiggling of the bell.” I chuckled, fanning my face with my purse.
Rezso shook his head, hitching the back of his neck. “Yeah, I should have done that, but the bell jiggled without prior notice.”
“You!” we both heard an angry voice, coming from the parked card.
We briskly turned, glaring at the tinted car glass before the window rolled down. Prescott propped his face out, making it easy for us to have a better look at his angry face.
“Go help the royal warriors out with their task!” he groaned, Rezso gave a curt bow before scurrying away from my sight without sparring me another glance.
“Get your fine ass here, my Queen!” he smiled before rolling the glass window back up.
“Good.” I groaned, before marching towards the car.
The door opened from the inside and I got into the backseat, sitting beside the Lycan King. The car engine roared to life before moving out of the palace.
The car was getting stuffy as I sat beside his Majesty while holding my breath. Prescott stared at me, he shook his head before rolling down the glass of the car, letting fresh breeze enter.
I shut my eyes as the cool breeze fanned my face. The car was moving at a light speed and we got to the town after a few minutes drive.
His Majesty must have said something to the driver through mind link because he hastily stepped on the break, letting the car come to an abrupt halt.
“Let’s start the tour from here,” Prescott announced, stepping down from the car, and stretching out his palm for me to take.
I ignored his outstretched palm and got down from the car. He smiled and dumped his hands inside his pocket.
“So, this is what the town looks like?” he nodded his head, staring at the heart of the pack.
“Yes, Your Majesty!” I sighed moving my gaze from left to right, not knowing where I should take his Majesty to.
“Prescott,” his Majesty let out, taking out his hands from his pocket and taking my palm in his. “You can call me by my name for today.”
“Huh?” my jaw dropped in surprise, unable to understand why he was telling me to call him by his name all of a sudden. “Why should I call your Majesty by his…”
“Shh!” Prescott cut me off with a huge smile on his face, making his one-sided dimple to came out of his cheek.
“Now let’s check out your town.” he smiled, tightening his hold on my palm. I gulped, feeling a little uneasy with his Majesty’s suddenly discovered attitude.
“Let…” I moved my gaze around and my eyes landed on the store I usually visit to purchase books. My eyes lit up with excitement and I grabbed Prescott by our intertwined hands, pulling him towards the store that was across from us.
“Where are we going?” he asked, I didn’t say anything as I pushed the glass door open, entering the store with a broad smile on my face.
“Hello,” I smiled at the guy on the counter before dragging Prescott who groaned to my greetings to the clerk.
I released my hand from his grip when we got to the section I would be checking out my favourite books.
“Do you read books?” I asked, not moving my gaze off the shelf as I searched for the newly released books.
“No, I don’t read books, the only time I read is when checking out the paperwork at my desk.” he groaned and I nodded my head, there was no need to bring up a book conversation when he doesn’t read.
“Do you like ice coffee?” I asked, shoving my head into the shelf to check out some more books.
“Yes, why?” he groaned, tapping his foot on the floor.
“If you are a fan of ice coffee, I know some places that sell great coffee around this place.” I smiled, picking out a book from the other side of the shelf.
“Do you want to go to the cafe across from here after we are done here? They are the best when it comes to coffee.” I asked, moving my gaze to my side, only to meet empty space beside me.
Where did he go? Where the hell did he go? I groaned, dumping the books I held in my hands back on the shelf, stretching my neck to see if I would see him from the other section of the store but was nowhere in sight.
“Where the hell is his Majesty?” I groaned, moving away from the shelf.
I strolled to the other part of the store, to buy ice cream from the vendor. I got a vanilla flavour for myself and got a chocolate flavour for his Majesty.
The two were my favourite and if it turns out that he doesn’t eat ice cream, then I would have the two to myself.
I was walking back to where I was standing before his Majesty sudden disappearance, stretching my neck, looking everywhere to see if I would catch a glimpse of his Majesty but I couldn’t see anyone who looks like him.
I made to turn around when I bumped into a hard chest, I twisted my ankle and staggered backwards, the ice cream came flying from my hands and dumped on the guy’s shirt.
I regained my posture but was stunned to see a strong-looking guy in front of me with my ice cream on his face, while some were on his leather jacket.
“Ahh,” I gasped, pressing my hands on my mouth, realising what I had done to the man’s jacket. “I am very sorry,” I mumbled, staring at the cold stare on his face and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
“You double-crossing bitch!” the guy screeched, grabbing my neck and sweeping me off my feet, his palms wrapped around my neck, choking life out of me.
“Aah!” I cried out, struggling to free myself from his iron grip. I felt his fingers digging into my flesh, his strength overwhelming. I thrashed and fought, but I felt powerless in his grip.
I thrashed and writhed, but his grip was unyielding. I hacked and coughed, my lungs burning as he cut off my air supply. His sharp claws hovered over my neck, ready to tear into my flesh when suddenly, a fierce howl pierced the air from his back.
I coughed when I realized who it was, a sharp cry escaped from the guy’s mouth and he threw me to the floor.
I stumbled, my foot catching on a loose floorboard. I fell, my head smacking against the cold, hard floor. My vision blurred, and a sharp pain shot through my skull.
The cries stopped and I felt a hard ball roll to my feet, I moved my gaze towards my feet and I felt my body froze when I saw the guy’s head at my feet, with his blood streaming on the floor where his body laid on.
