Chapter 27
TRISTAN POV
The door was slammed so forcefully that it made me pause, and I felt angry. She had the nerve to have a conversation with Micheal, a public wh*re who had no time to get himself a mate but tons of mistresses. I exited the car and headed to my office where I still needed to sign some papers. My escorts greeted me, and a few servants were standing in a straight line.
“Welcome back, Alpha,” Juanita greeted me with a bow before glancing behind me, Trying to catch a glimpse of Davina.”
“Why didn’t you rush to the door when you saw we arrived?” I yelled, adjusting my tie. I don’t want to pass aggression onto them, but Davina really got me mad, really mad.
I’m sorry, Alpha Tristan. We will take her out of the car.
“From the car??? She’s not there.”
“Sorry?” Cassy gave a questioning expression. It took me a while to respond. I arched my brows.
“What’s with that look, Cassy?!”
“Not what you think Alpha. I apologize, I’m just surprised my Luna didn’t come back with you.”
I observed her for a while as silence settled around us. She was looking after Davina, and I could feel her heartbeat quickening. It was beating loudly and fear was evident on her face. It seems that Cassy is more affectionate towards Davina.
“She went that way,” I pointed in the direction she took. Cassy ran down the path I pointed.
“Huh?” That took me by surprise.
“I’m sorry on her behalf, Alpha Tristan,” Juanita apologized. I nodded in approval.
“Can we go after her?” Juanita asked.
“Of course! What are you still waiting for.”
They scurried off while I took the elevator.
Grey whimpered in my head, “You hurt our mate.
“I didn’t hurt Davina. Grey, she needs to be put in her place. I know this, so let me be,” I said conclusively.
“You didn’t talk to her about you and Michael not being on good terms. She had no idea.”
“That should not be an excuse to talk to a stranger. Previously, she knew I was upset when I saw them in the garden for the first time. She should realize that I will be upset if I see them together again. She doesn’t need a soothsayer to understand this, Grey. Stop defending her.
“Alright, do whatever is best. I can sense your emotions, and I know you want to relax around her, but your ego and past experiences are preventing you from seeing the good in her. You can choose to continue dwelling in the past, just reject her as your partner if that’s what you feel is right-
“Rejecting her is not an option for me. The pack needs a Luna, we both know it. Her duties keep amassing. She should resume tomorrow; when she gets busy, she won’t have time to talk to a random stranger!”
I got no response after, and the elevator dinged open. I headed straight to my room while unbuttoning my shirt.
The elevator dings behind me, and I turn to see who it is: my escorts.
“Seriously? Ten of you!”
“I only need three people. Two of you should stand at the door, one should stay indoors with me, and the rest of you should go after Luna. She’s somewhere around the pack. Keep an eye on her until she returns to the pack.
“At your service, Alpha,” they said in unison as I shut the door behind me. Pull out a bottle of wine and pour some.
“Where is Javier?” I inquired of the guard, who was just seven steps away from me.
“Beta Javier left the pack for a while now.”
“Okay, is this your duty shift for the day or did you have one earlier?”
“No Alpha, this is my duty for the night.”
“Okay, okay,” I said as I took a deep breath and finished the rest of the wine. “Go to my main office and pack up, the papers on the table in my office and transfer it here. I instructed, dropped the glass, and headed to my showroom. After leaving the bathroom, I went to my dressing room and put on my bathrobe. Then, I went to my small office, sat down, and started reading the town papers.
I found it hard to concentrate because I couldn’t stop thinking about Davina, which put me in a bad mood. I glanced at the wall clock – it was twenty minutes past ten. I assumed she should have returned by now. Despite feeling sleepy, I tried to focus and finish at least 30% of the work.
I remember the moment vividly, a quick memory at Alpha Zeus party: Davina had hold of Michael, swinging his legs in the air. I stopped and pondered how she could hold Michael, an Alpha, with her bare hands. It was quite amusing, considering she had never trained for it, right? How did she manage to hold Michael like that? Unanswered questions raced through my mind.
I rang the bell, and one of the escorts came in,
“Yes, Alpha,” he bellowed.
“The men I sent out to search for the Luna, are they back?”
“Not yet, Alpha. I will give you feedback if they do,” he added, and I nodded.
“Oh, that’s great. You may take your leave.” I glanced at the wall clock, feeling drowsy. They should be back by now, I thought, and focused on the papers in front of me…
FEW HOURS AFTER, {2:34 am}
“Alpha Tristan! Alpha Tristan!! Alpha Tristan!!” I heard my name. The voice sounded urgent. How long have I slept?
“Daddy!” That was my daughter’s voice. I still don’t know how long I slept or how deep it was. Tammy’s voice is always lively and active. My eyes snap open, sharp and alert.
She had a sad expression, with Davina’s girls and a few of my escorts behind her.
“What’s the matter, Tammy?” I asked. She was my only concern at the moment.
“Silly is not back?”
“Silly, who is Silly?” I asked, returning my gaze to Juanita, I scanned the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Davina’s face, but she was nowhere to be found.
“Where is Davina, and why aren’t you with her?” I asked, getting up.
“I-think the Luna is missing?” Cassy stuttered as she broke the news to me.
“Huh?? What do you mean missing?”
“How?!”
“Is she going to come back, Daddy?” Tammy’s trembling voice shattered my heart.
“How did you allow Tammy to find out?” I yelled, running my fingers through my hair.
“What….. fuck… damn it!”
“Carla!”
“At your duty Alpha!”
“Take Tammy to her room until I call for you,” I instructed, still trying to wrap my head around Davina being missing.
“Who is missing again?” I find myself asking because I believe I might have heard that wrong.
“The Luna. She’s nowhere to be found.” Cassy cried… I didn’t misheard it.
“What??? She’s what??? Who dares to pull a kidnapping joke on me?!
