Chapter 28
TRISTAN’S POV
I followed her scent in the air. She didn’t mask it, which was a good sign. For the first time in years, my heart raced. I was speechless when they broke the news to me. It’s only Tammy who makes me feel this way, but Davina? I was not sure. Maybe I was scared of losing another mate, or perhaps I was afraid of traumatizing Tammy because of the bond they were developing.
I can’t forget the way I reacted at Alpha Zeus’s party. I don’t want to believe it, but it feels like it’s the mate bond making me act out of character. The energy I had while getting dressed and leaving the pack compound was alarming.
Grey whimpered in a husky voice, “You hurt our mate.” I ignored his question. I ran into the quiet forest.
“Alpha, I have the Luna shoes,” Cassy called my attention as she rushed up to me, showing me a pair of heels.
“Is this what she had on?”
“Yes, this is what I picked for her,” Cassy’s voice weakened and became heavy.
“How did she end up here? I thought staring down the deep eerie forest, I decided to run the rest while my men as well did the same. Cassy shifted to meet up with my running pace, I turned to see her huge wolf, with brown fur, behind me, leaving my men behind her.
I halted suddenly and sniffed the air. My eyes widened. Davina’s scent, it’s a mixture of blood. Somehow, I shook in fear, Cassy whined. I half shifted and ran down the part where I could smell her, but that didn’t stop Cassy from following, I turned back and the distance between us was a lengthy gap but she wasn’t ready to give up.
Deep down in me, I was hoping and praying nothing should happen to Davina, Grey was sadder than I was, his emotions were running through mine, it’s more like, he couldn’t control his emotions. If Grey can be feeling this way,
“Grey calm down, we will get to her soon” I assured him but none of it was working out. Her scent got so close and close and the blood scent kept getting stronger and stronger. I stopped, after seeing her close to the stream, her big self, her white fur, with marks and blood stains, there she was, lying lifeless. I howled, in pain and agony.
My nose hurts, a rogue. A rogue did this, so I rushed closer to her. I tugged her close and tried to feel her pulse but it was silent. Huh??? I rechecked with a pounding heart, and then I felt it, the faint beats. I turned around, scanning my eyes through the environment, and I saw a laying wolf, from afar, I knew it was a rogue.
At this moment, Cassy arrived, she followed my gaze and walked close to the wolf, she howled, that was a good signal. The rogue was dead. Seconds, my men arrived seconds after. Seeing Davina in this position is not what I was expecting to see so soon. I carried her on my back filled with rage, while fully shifted, Cassy shifted back to her full self and hoped on me.
“What should we do, Alpha?” One of the men asked.
“Search around and get back to me. We will discuss this when it’s morning.” I instructed and turned away from there. Running my way back to the pack with a heavy heart.
GOLDEN STONE PACK.
I lay Davina, oh yes! on my bed because that was where the physician got settled, I took a few steps back while I let the physician do his job. I stood there, staring at her wolf self, refusing to shift back. Her maids were there, staring, assisting the physician to nurse her wound. I know she will heal back but I don’t know how long and how badly she was injured.
Grey was silent, which made me more worried about his sudden silence. My mind was not settled, I stood close to the bed, my gaze following the physician’s moves. Davina needs to be trained, to be able to defend herself in times like this before tge arrival or help because this was unexpected, I’m sure she just wanted to clear her head due to the fact we argued.
She became weak after fighting a rogue. Just one! “What if they were two rogues?” The thought came to my head as I shook my head in denial. “It was one,” I said to myself, turning the door knob. How did rogues dare step into the Golden Stone Pack? What an audacity and a death wish?! I fume, filled with a rage to wipe out as many as possible.
I sighed deeply as I carefully opened Tammy’s door, to see if she was asleep, and to my surprise was actively awake. Bossing Carla around, I thought I could leave quietly but Carla sensed someone was at the door. She quietly stood up and she brought her head a bit forward but couldn’t get enough.
“Where do you think you are going?” Came Tammy’s voice, Carla ignited it and took a few steps forward.
“I will have Alpha Tristan throw you out of the pack.” She threatened and I arched my brows.
“You don’t threaten workers Tammy!” I burst in, looking furious at her. She rushed to sit up.
“Is Davina okay?” She rushed to ask with a worried face, I ignored it and still had a furious face on.
“You don’t threaten workers Tammy!”
“I’m sorry Alpha Tristan?”
“They are pack members, without them a pack can’t be formed, so learn your words!!! And for Davina, she’s safe, but I need you to stay away from my room for a while. She’s laid there till she gets better, do you understand Tammy?”
“Okay, daddy.” She nodded with a smirk on her face. What’s she cooking up in her head? I wondered while still staring at her.
“Alpha Tristan?? Carla’s voice came behind me and I nodded in approval. Luna??? Is she okay? I’m worried.” She asked in concern. I stood up, heading to the door.
“Goodnight Tammy, go to bed, and don’t stress Carla, she belongs to Luna, not you.” That being said, I turned the doorknob and turned around, resting my gaze on Carla, who immediately bowed her head to avoid my gaze.
“The Luna is fine, she should be healed-
“Healded, was she- oh moon goddess. I’m sorry for interrupting Alpha. She rushed to her knees, apologizing.
“She should be up by morning,” I uttered conclusively and stepped out of the room, shutting the door behind me.
“Oh, Alpha Tristan.” I bumped into the physician while on my way back.
“How is she fearing?”
“She will get better, by morning or evening. She was exhausted and I don’t think she fought with just a rogue-
“Are you trying to say they were more than two??” I asked, looking dumbfounded.
“We can’t be sure if they were more than two. But it seems like the wounds are deep and sharp. She should heal up by evening and it might be fast and get healed by morning.” He uttered in a conclusive tone.
“Okay okay. Thank you, Lucas.”
“Oh! I forgot this. She might need you close to fasten up the healing process.” Lucas added and I hummed.
“Okay, thank you, Lucas.” I appreciate it and head to my room. I opened my door and I saw her girls. Still there, sitting on the floor while Juanita was a few steps away from the bed. My presence was noticed and they stood up instantly.
“You all can take your leave, I will call for you girls when she’s awake,” I instructed walking closer to my bed, they all left shutting the door. I stood up and locked it, taking back my seat. I watched her wolf self sleeping peacefully.
The slow rise and fall of her body.
“What could have happened between her and Rogue?” I thought about it, staring at her. I need to tighten my pack security and wipe out the rogues on my pack.
A while ago, I was scared to lose her, words can’t explain how I felt, how hoping and praying she was fine. Which was something I never did in years. Was I truly scared of losing her or it’s just an Alpha duty to take care of Luna? It might be the mate thing, I sighed deeply, feeling exhausted.
I lay next to her, calling Grey to take over, and it’s more like he was waiting for me to ask him. He fully shifts in, blacking me out, as I get down and sleepy in the warm void of emptiness.
