LARA’S POV
I watched them leave with so great an enthusiasm that I smiled within me. They were fighting for what they believed in. We are all fighting for what we believe in and hopefully, we will return victorious.
Dawn has willingly decided to do this for us. She is taking such a huge risk, one that if anything goes wrong, she will be an outcast for the rest of her life.
She is a beta wolf of Diamond Cut and thus, one of the upholders of their strength. She is one of the rocks on which Diamond Pack stood giantly.
But then we would need her strength for this.
Most of us going into the fight are untrained. We are going against trained soldiers of a great Pack, and the usefulness of a beta wolf can never be over-emphasized.
Everything is set now. Everyone knows what was expected of them and they are all ready for the fight.
I gathered the slaves with vampire’s blood and we all shifted and ran off. We are all going directly to meet the other werewolves who are already on the lookout for the intruders.
It was not long before we arrived at the borders of the Pack that the armies of Diamond Cut arrived.
For a brief moment, they were all taken aback by meeting werewolves at the borders of a wolfless Pack, waiting for them. But being the armies that they are, they immediately pulled themselves together and came to attack us.
This was the signal that we needed, an attack from them. Thus, we launched back at them and fought vigorously.
The armies charged at us with all their might, but we met them with even greater resilience, wading them off and tearing them to pieces one by one.
We might be no match for them, but the fortification prolonged our strength and shielded us from pain so we fought like tigers.
I fought with all that I’ve got, tearing so many of the enemies apart. I fought like I never believed I could. I fought for a land that I call my own. I fought for Scarlet, I fought for Rich.
I went for wolves that were almost overtaking our men, and I finished them up without mercy. My aim was to make sure that this fight never gets to the palace. Those in the palace must be protected.
A wolf came for me. It was a surprise attack. I was in battle with another wolf when it jumped on my back and used his pawns to pin me to the ground, hold tightly to my neck, and bite deeply into it.
I let out a deafening growl as I tried to release myself from its grip. It was a very strong wolf, and I could tell that it had long been targeting me and had attacked when he saw the chance to.
Not relenting, I continued to struggle and tried really hard to pull off but it seems as if the more I struggle, the stronger its hold gets on me.
I could see my blood flowing like a stream down my neck.
The soldiers must have realized that we were fortified, and thus have resolved to go for our blood instead.
It is no doubt that without the required amount of blood, any wolf would give up in no time. Not even the strongest wolf would last for a long time without the required level of blood.
I could feel my heartbeat begin to reduce slowly as there was not enough blood to pump. I shook my body vigorously, trying to summersault and get the wolf off me, but it did not even move. He was determined to see the end of me.
Everywhere was beginning to look blurry to me, and just when I was sure that I would not make it, I saw a wolf come for the one on my back and with a great push, it slouched against one of the trees and landed with a thud on the ground. He let out a growl for a while, and then everywhere was silent. He was dead.
At last, I was free, and in pain, I shifted to my human form, and slowly, everywhere became completely black.
DAWN’S POV
I was fighting with two of the enemy, or maybe, my Pack wolves when I saw Lara in agony. Her blood was littered everywhere and flowed endlessly like a river. I have watched her fight since the battle began, and I was impressed.
But who was this wolf that had pinned her down and was eager to see her die in its hands? In escalated anger, I flung one of the wolves, and as he got to a tree, the sharp edge of its branch pierced through its stomach. It let out a whimper and soon it was dead.
I made for the stomach of the remaining wolf, and as if it was just paper, I ripped it open and separated the intestines. Even if he were to shift, he would not survive it.
And then, I ran to Lara. If nothing is done now, this would be the end of her. With no blood, there is a thin chance of her surviving especially now that Scarlet is nowhere around.
I attacked the wolf and pushed it with great force, causing it to land on the big tree and his head ripping open.
I looked at Lara, she had shifted and was unconscious.
The enemies were doing the same to all our wolves, going for their blood. They already knew that this was the only way to get at us.
I pulled her away from the battle and led her into a lonely bush. I will return to this soon and end this madness. Each of them must pay for every blood that their lips tasted, that is a promise.
I was completely confused and did not know what to do to Lara. The fighting was still going on and there was no way that I would leave her here and go to continue fighting. What if someone sees her in such a helpless state and decides to finish her up completely?
I looked around me and seeing no one around, I shifted into my human form and proceeded to give Lara an air resuscitation and also a cardiac massage.
Slowly, she regained consciousness and started to whimper. But then, I felt some presence nearby.
I was dazed and could not turn around.
