RICH’S POV
“Thanks, Violet, but I would not want to take anything just yet,” Scarlet told Violet.
“Okay, luna, know that I am here for you” Violet replied.
Why is she been too pushy? No one complained to her of being hungry, so why is she offering Scarlet some hot dog? I resolved to keep my eyes on her as she is been rather too nice for my liking.
“I can have it, Violet, give it to me instead,” Lara demanded.
I shot Lara a look in annoyance. Was she serious about wanting to accept a snack from Violet? As it is now, none of us know what Violet is up to so we have to be careful with her.
“Violet” Lara called when Violet had acted like she did not hear her and had gone ahead to throw away the hot dog.
“Oh, I am sorry. I did not know you were talking to me. I can go get you another one” Violet offered.
“But then there was no need to throw it away, a lot of people would be glad to have it” Lara replied.
“But the luna said she doesn’t want it, so the only thing I could think of was to dispose of it” Violet explained.
“It is okay, Violet. Please next time, you should not throw things away like that when a lot of people are desirous of having them” Scarlet said.
“You heard her, right?” I asked.
There is no way Violet can swear that she had not heard Lara before proceeding to thrash the hot dog. Why then is she acting as if she had acted by mistake?
“No, I did not” she replied.
“I said it is okay. Now let’s go in, the movie is about to start” Scarlet said.
We walked into the hall and took our seats.
I could see just how restless Violet was and I wonder why she was acting strange. She was the one that had insisted that we come here even when I and Lara strongly kicked against it. And now she is acting as if something had forced her to come along.
Her anxiety continued into the movies and so I decided to find out what the issue was. “Are you okay?” I asked her.
“Yes,” she murmured.
“You do not look so relaxed,” I said.
“See, if you don’t like it here, Violet, we can leave,” Scarlet told her.
“Come on, I am enjoying the movie. I like it here, luna” she smiled.
“Okay,” Scarlet said and yawned.
“Let me go get you something immediately. Do you care for some ice cream? And I can get us some popcorn” Violet asked.
“I don’t know, I think ice cream would do” Scarlet replied.
“And what about you two?” Violet asked I and Lara.
“Nothing, we need nothing” Lara answered.
“And you, Rich?” she asked me.
“Lara just told you. I need nothing” I replied.
“Okay, I will be right back, my luna” she stood up and left.
I could see that she was excited about getting something for Scarlet. And I wondered if it is about the newly formed friendship or if there is something more to it.
“You know I could go get you the ice cream, right?” I asked.
“Come off it, Rich. What else do you and Lara need to be able to confirm her genuineness? Can’t you see just how free and happy she is to be in our mist? Please she is my friend now and I would not want any of you talking down on her. You are both making her walk on eggshell around me and I might be forced to read some meanings into your actions” Scarlet replied.
“We are sorry, luna, I agree that we have to be more receptive” I replied.
“Such act wasn’t intentional, luna. We had believed that by so doing, we are looking out for you” Lara added.
“I know that. But she has proven herself even though neither of you made doing so any easier for her” Scarlet replied.
“Then maybe we have to apologize to her,” Lara said.
“No, I don’t think there would be any need for that. Just make her feel free from now on” Scarlet replied.
Just then, Violet returned with a cup of ice cream. “I asked for some peanut to be added to it, my luna. The alpha loves his this way, so I figured that you might too” she announced.
Scarlet smiled. “Of course I do, Violet. But you should not have gone through the pain to do that” Scarlet replied.
“It is no pain, my luna. See you went through the pain of having me with you, and I should be ready to go the extra miles for you” Violet replied and handed the ice cream to Scarlet.
Something doesn’t feel right here, I don’t know what that is but if not for the warning from Scarlet that we should be accommodating to Violet, I would have taken that cup away from Scarlet and thrown it into the bin.
“It tastes so nice. They are the best ice cream maker in town” Violet said.
“Really” Scarlet exclaimed. “Then I must see for myself”.
I don’t know what I did or what made me do it, but as I saw that Violet was going through her purse, I stood up from where I was seating and passed through Scarlet’s front. And as I did so, I made sure to hit the cup of ice cream bringing the content to pull on the floor.
“What?” Violet exclaimed.
SCARLET’S POV
“I asked for some peanut to be added to it, my luna. The alpha loves his this way, so I figured that you might too” Violet announced as soon as she arrived.
“Of course I do, Violet. But you should not have gone through the pain to do that” I replied.
I was amazed by just how much she could go just to ensure that I am satisfied.
“It is no pain, my luna. See you went through the pain of having me with you, and I should be ready to go the extra miles for you” Violet replied.
She handed the cup of ice cream to me and said. “It tastes so nice. They are the best ice cream maker in town”
“Really? Then I must see for myself” I exclaimed.
I took the spoon and scooped out a little quantity of ice cream and tasted it. Even though it is not the best ice cream that I have had, it was just so nice. I scooped out another, but then everything flung away from my hand and splashed on the floor.
“What?” Violet exclaimed.
I looked up at the intruder with anger but saw that it was Rich. Seeing him made my anger subside. I felt there was no need to be angry with him even when I strongly feel that the act was intentional.
“Sorry, luna, I can go get you another one” Rich begged.
“Are you okay, luna, did it pour on you?” Lara asked.
“I am fine, Lara. And don’t worry about getting me another cup of ice cream, Rich, I am okay. Maybe we should get going. I have had enough fun for tonight” I replied.
I got up to leave and they followed suit.
